Putting washing on the line in the sun

I apologise if this is a niche pleasure - but does anyone else get a huge pleasure from seeing big sheets on the washing line in the sun?

Maybe it's a childhood thing.

I do! 🙋‍♀️

I’ve only recently discovered the joy of put stuff in hangers to dry on the line instead of using pegs
straighten and shake them occasionally cut ironing in 1/2

Probably a stupid question but do they need to be special hangers or can you just use normal ones? I'm thinking maybe they could fly off the line?

artant · 20/05/2024 13:24

I used to put the hangers into the corner struts of my rotary airer but they’d jump free in high winds. Nothing’s escaped since I got these line clips. It’s worth using hangers that won’t leave weird shaped shoulders though.

Edited several times because the link looks fine but misbehaves when I actually post it. If it’s still a mess, it’s staying that way!

Thank you @aartant ! I'm also interested in getting a peg apron, which I've seen my MIL use and instantly wanted one 😂

Why won't the rain stop for a day so I can get these TONS of laundry dry? 😫

ScottBakula · 15/07/2024 10:41

We must be in different parts of the world ( or country) blue sky and warm sun from about 6am in the North west today.

Sadly I was in to much of a rush this morning to hang my washing out , it's still in the machine 😒

I’m in amd out like a blooming yo-yo putting it out under a clear blue sky, then rain clouds appear from nowhere, so in it comes…then out again…

wildfellhall · 15/07/2024 11:32

It is July after all!

InMySpareTime · 15/07/2024 11:37

Took advantage of a dry sunny morning here to get all the beds stripped and washed, most of it's dry already.
If it rains all afternoon I don't care, I've had my sunny laundry fix.

I love it. My bedding is on the line at the moment. I love the smell of it.

artant · 15/07/2024 14:59

Far too rainy to be a laundry day here. The forecast suggests Wednesday and/or Friday as decent days. Luckily two loads will do just fine.

Lifebeganat50 · 09/08/2024 09:02

Still loving getting the washing on the line every day here!

@PerkingFaintly i remember my mum having something like those in the 70s! May have to invest…

TheBlueAndAmber · 09/08/2024 13:11

Perfect drying conditions here… sunny and good breeze blowing - bliss!

Got plenty out on the lines, and -joy- it’s meant to be hot 🌞 here on Sunday.
That means I can do winter coats, blankets etc and get them properly dry.
Bedding ready for the lines now, DP away til tomorrow .. guess who’s got a gorgeous smelling clean bed all to herself tonight?

Nice bath and nice bed! Yippee🥳

PerkingFaintly · 09/08/2024 11:21

I looked out at my garden yesterday and I saw:

– freshly cut grass
– a newly painted shed
– white sheets flapping in the breeze

<happy sigh>

Also, huge thanks to @artant for the tip re line clips! I now even have them on my sock-hangers: game changer!

Link again, 'cos they're worth it: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B094VC58K3

Thanks @PerkingFaintly, just ordered some Minky ones of the washing line hanger hooks. I didn't know they existed and was fed up of picking up DD's school shirts off the ground before the hols!

I'm very excited for them to arrive Grin

Daleksatemyshed · 10/08/2024 17:47

It's daft but I think this is one of my favourite threads on MN. The simple pleasure of looking at a line of clean washing drying in the sun never gets old for me. It's so much nicer taking something straight from the line and putting it away or adding it to the ironing pile

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 10/08/2024 18:14

I love hanging washing out, it's definitely my favourite chore.

MeinKraft · 11/08/2024 16:57

I've got the ultimate in clothes line pleasures hanging out today...bedroom curtains!

mizu · 11/08/2024 17:09

Add in the great feeling that tomorrow will be sunny too!

We've got back from London, DD2 back from a festival tomorrow morning and I'm doing the beds too Grin

artant · 11/08/2024 17:26

Clothes on the line here. With tomorrow set to be hot and sunny I’m planning to wash any sheets and towels that could do with the extra help from a bit of sun bleaching.

wildfellhall · 13/08/2024 16:29

Fantastic white sheets on the line today - smell like heaven
