What was your favourite soft drink when you were growing up?

We used to buy bottles of pop from the greengrocers, almost always Barr, which meant Tizer, Jusoda, Strike Cola and Dandelion and Burdock. I think Jusoda was my favourite, a sort of fizzy orange-flavoured drink although I have no idea what was actually in it! I remember thinking Strike Cola was every bit as good as Coca-Cola and Pepsi.

Citra, from Wakefield, made lots of fizzies too. Apple Dash was the best one. I probably considered it a bit grown-up as it was apparently made from the same fruit used to make cider!

I never cared for cherryade and cream soda. I wasn't crazy about Dandelion and Burdock either but I made do with it. I doubt I could stomach any of these drinks now; I'd be overwhelmed by the sweetness.

We weren’t allowed fizzy drinks as children, but I discovered Pepsi at friends’ homes when I was a teen. That’s what I’d drink now, I never got a taste for anything else.

Lilt - I haven't verified this, but I'd heard it was rebranded as Fanta Pineapple and Grapefruit???

Orange Fanta that came in those ridged bottles. Coke too. Root beer and cream soda!

Born 1960s. Wasn't allowed soft drinks - just milk, water and squash!

Cherryade! Only “Barr” brand though… this is actually my pregnancy craving and has been for both my pregnancies! I love it 🤩

The real surprise of the 60s was beer deliveries like the pop man. Davenports 'beer at home'. I moved away from the midlands so I don't know when it stopped. Any Clues?

There was a drink called Indigo, in a dark purple (indigo even 😁) bottle that they only sold in the summerfield near grans house! DB and I talk about it once a month on average! But no one else has ever hear of it!

Cream soda. Wish I could remember if the different colours tasted different!
Forgotten about limeade - I liked that too. Used to enjoy getting money back for returning the bottles.

Used to bé pineapple and grapefruit quosh until that gave way to diet Coke.

Tizer! But it vanished. These days it's cream soda - delicious.

Cherryade but my mum refused to get it from the Corona man ☹️
We had orange squash, occasionally lemon squash or just water.

Cream soda on a Saturday night, with an orange and some chocolate, usually a Fudge. The only treats we had all week. The only fruit as well!
