If you were a man, would you find you attractive?

I'm just getting ready for my valentine's date tonight and looking at myself and thinking " Gordon Bennett, it's a good job he loves you"
I wouldn't fancy me I don't think. Even with all the effort I've made tonight.

What about you?

EndoEnd · 14/02/2024 18:41

I can't say I would, I'm not my type.

TeabySea · 14/02/2024 18:47

Like the PP, I'm not my type. Far too normal on the surface and far too weird deep down.

stayathomer · 14/02/2024 18:48

No. Which sounds awful but I don’t mind, I’m happy. I’d like my personality😅

Whattodowithit88 · 14/02/2024 18:51

If I was to judge me quickly then no, not a chance, I have an attitude, but if I took the time to get to know me properly then I’m a safe bet, none come more fiercely loyal, loving and stable than me, I’m a good bet to build into the future with. I’m also good looking too so there’s that.

TomRaider · 14/02/2024 18:54

I used to run a shop and one old regular who used to come in for chat had been married upteen times with umpteen kids in different stables one said, reflecting on his life.

"I don't know why women like blokes, they're........ ! (4 letter word begging with S) ..... But I'm very glad they do"

.... and I can't really disagree with that.

OhVienna24 · 14/02/2024 18:54

I think I’m great but if I catch my reflection unawares sometimes, it’s not so good. I’m passable if I make A LOT of effort but I can’t keep it up. I’m a nice person though.

Hereforthebunfights · 14/02/2024 18:59

This is a massively heteronormative question.

thistimelastweek · 14/02/2024 19:04

If I were an old man with dodgy eyesight and liked a pint, then I'd be the woman for me.

BuddhaAtSea · 14/02/2024 19:07

I think I’d consider myself very lucky. I quite like myself though, without sounding weird here.

LauderSyme · 14/02/2024 19:11

This is a massively heteronormative question.

This is very true. However the world is largely heteronormative and so is the very word "mumsnet" - isn't it?!

The OP poses an interesting question. I don't think I'd fancy myself at all at first sight, no, but I reckon I might start crushing on me a tiny bit once I got to know me! 😊

Shit?

ILoveMyCatButHesAPervert · 14/02/2024 19:15

How is the word "Mumsnet" heteronormative, @LauderSyme? It doesn't assume anything about the sexual orientation of the "mum".

IRefuseToFeelBad · 14/02/2024 19:18

Nope, but then I'm not trying to attract men.

If I was a woman I'd find me attractive though. I'm a pretty good person imo

IRefuseToFeelBad · 14/02/2024 19:19

I am a woman btw what I meant was if I was a different woman 😂

BarelyLiterate · 14/02/2024 19:26

In my considerable experience of these matters, most men find most women to be at least somewhat attractive. It’s basic evolutionary biology. Male mammals mate opportunistically, female mammals are much more choosy.

That being the case, and given that I’m not entirely physically repulsive, it’s reasonable to assume that if I were male I wouldn’t say no to shagging me.

Sittingonthefence83 · 14/02/2024 19:26

Great question! I don't think I would find myself that attractive tbh but like a PP said I would like my personality. I feel like I'm a good friend to myself Grin

Noicant · 14/02/2024 19:28

Not really but just as well Dh is a bit blind really.

TomRaider · 14/02/2024 19:29

ILoveMyCatButHesAPervert · 14/02/2024 19:14

Shit?

yup... didn't know if there was a swear filter on MN

RedRobyn2021 · 14/02/2024 19:30

Yes

ecdysis · 14/02/2024 19:30

@TomRaider you can say any swear word on here, I'm not sure what word you mean- shit? If so I'm not even sure that is a swear word.

To the op, no I wouldn't, not now. Asked DH and says he fancy himself 🤣

noooooooo · 14/02/2024 19:32

sadly hypothetical male me has a type and I’m not it.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 14/02/2024 19:32

I wouldn't find me physically attractive but I'd enjoy an evening out with me.

SwedishEdith · 14/02/2024 19:33

I'm definitely my type (well, certainly when I was younger when I would have got together with me).

LauderSyme · 14/02/2024 19:39

No it doesn't, you're right. I knew I was massively over-simplifying when I typed that.

However, when I hear mumsnet referred to in other media outlets, it appears to me to be the case that mumsnet is mainly seen as a space where biologically female women, who are partnered (or were partnered) with biologically male men, interact with each other.

Idratherbepaddleboarding · 14/02/2024 19:41

I don’t know because I’m not a man but men in general appear to find me attractive so maybe I would 🤷‍♀️.
