Quite a different approach to farmers today from the PM and the Welsh First Minister.

Sunak was his usual creepy, slimy self coming out with phrases like "we don't celebrate you enough" and "I've got your back".
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-68342314

Meanwhile Mark Drakeford was a lot more blunt and told the farmers directly that their problems have been caused by Brexit. Loved his knockdown comment to Andrew RT Davies that Welsh farmers are in that position because they "took his advice and voted to leave the European Union".

If only Downing Street could display a fraction of honesty.

Surely Badenoch has evidence that Canada is lying, maybe an undated letter?

😂😂

Or a whats app message

😂😂

Or a whats app message

She has had a new phone since then and lost all her previous whatsapp messages, but there is one from Canada that definetely says what she wants them to say.

NEW: Ousted Post Office boss Henry Staunton has unearthed the memo at the heart of his row with Kemi Badenoch. It says that on Jan 5, 2023, the top civil servant at BEIS told him to “hobble” into the election and not to “rip off the band aid” financially.

Sarah Munby allegedly told Staunton that “politicians do not necessarily like to confront reality” and that “now was not the time for dealing with long-term issues”.

A big moment in this story. It raises serious questions over Badenoch’s judgement in branding Staunton a liar.

Notonthestairs · 21/02/2024 08:03

Obviously Munby will have to take the blame. Badenoch will claim no knowledge.

Wow. What a surprise Hmm

IClaudine · 21/02/2024 08:20

Colour me shocked.

BIossomtoes · 21/02/2024 08:26

I tell you what would shock me and that’s if Badenoch apologised for accusing him of lying.

Saucery · 21/02/2024 08:35

Munby beaming down in a red shirt, there.

Or if she turned out to have good judgement about anything.

Well there is that of course.

The Trussell Trust

Last month, more than half of people receiving Universal Credit were unable to afford enough food.

And 780,000 people receiving it have needed to use a food bank.

This isn’t right. We need the UK government to take urgent action

Victoria Atkins on Sky News claims it's a "privilege" to have lots of food banks in her constituency.

But the Tories want to cut welfare payments.

This gave me a good giggle, although think hell will freeze over before Saint Badenoch apologies or admitting she is lying.
welcome Kitfree1

mibbelucieachwell · 21/02/2024 10:49

Lovely to (virtually) meet you @kitfree1

I'm confused. I thought we were taking back control of our borders? I wonder what it is about billionaire Tory funding private jet passengers that exempts them from border checks?

Badenoch absent from PMQs

https://x.com/AdamBienkov/status/1760275392034668672?s=20

Rishi Sunak repeatedly refuses to repeat Kemi Badenoch's claim this week that the former Chair of the Post Office, Henry Staunton is a liar, or that he lied when suggesting he'd been told to delay compensation payments to Horizon victims

Labour MP @BenPBradshaw highlights an apparent discrepancy between Badenoch claim to have “engaged extensively with LGBT groups” as equalities minister with his FOI (see below) suggesting she hasn’t met any and has instead just met two gender-critical groups

"discrepancy"

Grin Much as I love feminist groups, they aren't necessarily equivalent to LGBT groups.

That's just Confused

Well, quite. Feminism comes in so many different flavours. The likes of you and me aren't recognised as feminists by some because we prioritise issues other than the one about trans. Which is ridiculous.

Saucery · 21/02/2024 12:55

I am a gender critical feminist but I would expect her to meet groups representative of both sides of the issue. To adequately safeguard women and girls you need to know where the potential safeguarding failures could come from. But why am I expecting her to do her job properly- doh!

placemats · 21/02/2024 12:57

Very muted PMQs today and Badenoch wasn't present. Something's up.

Exactly my thoughts too.

mibbelucieachwell · 21/02/2024 13:38

Labour Party amendment and the PM's amendment to the SNP motion allowed to be voted on.

DuncinToffee · 21/02/2024 13:55

I am a bit confused with what is happening with those motions but that sounds like the right decision.
