Presumably my Canada have noted that there were no negotiations and emailed it to themselves and a few other people as evidence.

I’m imagining the ST have a copy of that email note that Staunton wrote and this is why they said they were standing by their story. Staunton appears to have kept all the receipts because he didn’t trust the government as far as he could throw them. Not surprising given how the post masters got stitched up.
