A bit random I know but theres a show on Sky now, or I might be watching it on catch up, a gig by the Stones, obviously some time ago, Charlie is still there and some mention is being made of Ronnie getting married

Ronnie is also really thin and Keith is slim

Is it all the activity, gigging, Jack Daniels?

Not even a slight paunch on them. Charlie too.

BTW RestingPassportFace I LOVE the expression "he's filled a pram"! Brilliant.

Has he? He looks like a sylph like young man to me. All tight.

Haaa! He looks like a seedy old man to me.

SiobhanSharpe · 04/02/2024 12:51

I never got the love for his 'moves' -- to me they are jerky and arrhythmic, missing the beat more often than not.

I saw them in the 60s when they were certainly slight but they seem even thinner now and I can't say it's a good look, all ancient leather held together by string....
And those who talk about the healthy lifestyle of Keef - the former heroin addict? He's probably still alive only because he always had the money to stick to the good stuff.
(A bit like Winston Churchill, an alcoholic who would polish off a bottle of excellent port and a bottle of five-star cognac a day. Not to mention the champagne. Lived well into his 80s.)

Probably just the basics of an active lifestyle and not eating crap food.

I'm sure if he adopted a regime of sitting around watching TV stuffing highly calorific food into his mouth he'd look different.

alwaysmovingforwards · 04/02/2024 14:05

Always makes me chuckle when people ask how another person is slim, like it's some sort of trade secret they're perplexed by and haven't figured out yet.

Pedallleur · 04/02/2024 14:30

He is fortunate to have enjoyed gòod health and has cut back decades ago on vices. Prob been seeing private doctors since the 60s and having regular health checks. The whole band have had access to good doctors and realised when to quit e.g. drink, drugs. Good doctors on tour. Can't avoid arthritis or heart valves failing but early diagnosis helps. They are just survivors like Clapton or Daltrey, Townshend, Stewart.

Micks not a fan of drugs or drink but does a vast amount of horizontal jogging. Aside from that he does a lot of exercise, dance etc. His father was PE teacher, got used to it young.

ginasevern · 04/02/2024 14:42

They've always been naturally slim and have also spent years touring and probably keeping themselves trim to a certain extent to preseve their image.

newnamethanks · 04/02/2024 14:43

Heard an anecdote by Adrian Edmondson of accompanying Jennifer Saunders to the Jagger/Hall house for dinner as JH wanted to be considered for the role of Patsy in Ab Fab. To say they were disappointed by the provisions is to understate it. lf his experience was the norm, the Jaggers certainly don't squander their dosh on food and drink.

CherryRipe1 · 04/02/2024 15:07

I saw their outfits like a previous poster did at an exhibition in Kings Road, Chelsea. Jeepers, they were absolutely tiny! I mean short in stature and build, the clothes were like kids sizes. I saw Ronnie Wood in Holland Park once, I'm short but was a good few inches taller than him. He's weeny! I don't believe they are 5ft 8/9/10/11 or whatever is online. I've read a couple of articles that state the Stones have it written in to their contracts that they have to remain skinny.

And those who talk about the healthy lifestyle of Keef - the former heroin addict? He's probably still alive only because he always had the money to stick to the good stuff.

I remember a TV interview where Robin Denslow (IIRC) interviewed Keef. He described him as having eyeballs that looked like 2 pickled onions - I assume Keef was at peak addiction at that time. He does seem to have cleaned up his act.

I enjoyed hearing the Stones talking about their careers in "The Stones on the Stones" tv programmes.

soupfiend · 04/02/2024 19:25

Well so what if thats the reason they are doing well anyway, good on them.

I'd love to watch that. Is it on any catch up channel?

Abra1t · 04/02/2024 19:32

Mick Jagger’s father was an army PT, I think.

And MJ has always kept himself very fit too.

Windymcwindyson · 03/02/2024 21:46

Coz he moves like Jagger.
Simples.

😂

Growlybear83 · 04/02/2024 19:36

Mick Jagger has always had that physique. He probably eats massive salads and makes a chicken last for three weeks.

MissingMoominMamma · 04/02/2024 19:38

I’d imagine he does yoga daily and is a vegetarian.

I read that they he cut out booze and drugs many years ago.

Because he's spent his life singing and dancing, not sitting on the sofa eating jaffa cakes.

Clapton is very frail these days.

This plus being in showbiz where everyone strives to be slim. Maybe not Elton. Came from a generation where there was no snacking. But just lucky he and his band mates are still playing and have dodged/survived illness. Bowie didn't. Elton had a serious illness a couple of years ago in S.America. Sadly time is not on their side.

MissMarplesNiece · 04/02/2024 20:24

@soupfiend Yes, that's the documentary. It's very good.

Most old men I know have withered dad bods. Not rake thin
