What's your dream job?

I work in finance and I bloody hate it!! It's so stressful and all I'm doing is making other people rich.

My absolute dream job is to be a midwife. I'm absolutely fascinated by pregnancy and birth.

Unfortunately I'm too old and skint to go to university 😩

It's a nice daydream 😌

I'd love to own and run a small garden centre.

overthinkersanonnymus · 01/02/2024 20:45

@DandelionPockets oooo that sounds lovely. With a little cafe inside?

I'd love to own and run a small garden centre.

Me too 😁

I'd like to own a dog friendly coffee shop with a book swap shelf and board games, but have enough money so I didn't have to worry about making a profit and could just bake the cakes and make lovely soups.

I'd have great staff and could just work when it suited me. Does this sound doable 😂

To own a food truck selling cream teas, spending my days travelling around different festivals and food fayres!

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 01/02/2024 21:09

Actor.

ssd · 01/02/2024 21:10

I'd love a cafe with home baking and a log fire, which is known for being great for people to go to themselves and not feel awkward or sad they are alone. Eg mainly for people alone, especially older people.

onwardandupwards · 01/02/2024 21:14

To own a small arts and crafts play centre for children with SEN, where parents can relax with tea and cake and the kids can create any thing they like 😊

familyissues12345 · 01/02/2024 21:19

I've always wanted to be a midwife. There's a part of me that's tempted to do it, I've got a couple of friends who have recently qualified and I think why not! Then I go back to the real world..

In my absolute dreams I'd also love to run a tea shop!

familyissues12345 · 01/02/2024 21:21

Oh I'd also love an ice cream van!

AgnesNaismith · 01/02/2024 21:22

Designing and making wedding dresses.

BarelyLiterate · 01/02/2024 21:26

Fantasy world : Professional cricketer, opening the batting for England in the Ashes at Lord’s.

Real world : Journalist. Sports or political reporter. If I had my time again, this is the career I would have pursued, but it would have entailed doing different A levels & a different degree.

eandz13 · 01/02/2024 21:27

I'd love to have Joann Fletchers job.

So essentially a forensic historian that delves into Egyptology/archaeology/ancient cold cases etc. That's the dream!

PoodlesRUs · 01/02/2024 21:27

Astronaut.

LumpyKat · 01/02/2024 21:32

Fabric shop, with a lovely cafe with a cat rescue attached

Missingmyusername · 01/02/2024 21:43

Own a huge, luxury animal sanctuary with the best vets, trainers and carers.

CountryShepherd · 01/02/2024 21:47

I think at least 60% of women secretly daydream about wanting to run a little tea shop with lovely home baking. I know I do.

The nearest I get to it is doing a village hall cake stall twice a year - I love it. But way too much work for the money.

JustMaggie · 01/02/2024 21:51

I'd have a little bookshop full of children's books.

Coffeeandmarmaladetoast · 01/02/2024 21:53

I'd like to own a coffee shop with a log fire, lots of bookshelves, comfy armchairs in cosy corners where you can enjoy cakes and pots of tea. I think I imagine myself reading a book there with a cake and a cup of tea rather than running around serving customers! Perhaps I would sometimes solve a local crime or mystery too.

AffIt · 01/02/2024 21:54

I'd love to own a bookshop, but I'm a bit like Bernard Black of Black's Books, so I'd spend most of my time telling people to fuck off and drinking wine.

No profit, but ultimately massively rewarding.

PoodlesRUs · 01/02/2024 21:54

Why is it always cafes and book shops and never casting agent for male underwear campaign or tealady in GCHQ or something?

TheChosenTwo · 01/02/2024 21:56

Weirdly either a dog walked or a postie!
I just really like walking so if I could get paid to do it that would be a dream 😂
But really I’d love to be a play therapist but can’t face going back to studying - I hated school/college and couldn’t do it.

madderthanahatter · 01/02/2024 22:07

I want one of those £100k jobs from that thread where you only have to be on standby, no real work.

My neighbour is a postie and he says there's such a shortage atm as they are all off on stress!
