Crashed car
child broke arm
cooker packed in
wisdom tooth out (expensive)
boiler broke
Dyed DHs white t shirts and towels yellow by accident.

Sirzy · 30/01/2024 16:46

In terms of individual things then yes I probably could BUT these things are subjective and everyone is allowed to think “yup this is shit” about periods of their own life.

only one more day to go to February!

SoOutingWhoCares · 30/01/2024 16:53

Since 31/12/23

Stalker, police involved
Heating broke
Elderly relative accidentally chopped a body part off
Cousin died
Covid
Brain stem related injury from Covid, now struggling to function at all
Possible Covid induced diabetes

Augustus40 · 30/01/2024 16:54

Not been well since a thrush tablet. Too many side effects.

I have used up all my savings and not been able to work as much as usual due to feeling too weary. It has happened before and it will pass (the side effects)..

Not as bad as some of the other posters though.

Deep breaths everyone and it will soon be March!

FuckYouJanuary · 30/01/2024 16:56

Empathy and sympathy to one and all.

life sometimes is too much all at once

Left job after 8 weeks as the place was a shit show, went self employed. Immediately after:

  • boiler broke
  • husband and I separated
  • car broke down (tow, new battery, new alternator)
  • pet died
  • flat tyre on side of secluded road
  • daughter being sent home with panic attacks twice a week
FuckYouJanuary · 30/01/2024 17:20

Oh man, my January now looks fairly good.

OP posts:
NoCloudsAllowed · 30/01/2024 17:29

Wishing you all better Februarys.

asrarpolar · 30/01/2024 17:39

Friend died
Bad chest infection
Pet died suddenly
DP diagnosed with new chronic illness
Made redundant with very little payout
DPs job looks shaky
Blocked sink that I have not managed to sort out
Window leaking

Honestly I have felt like giving up on January. No wonder I am feeling overwhelmed.

Hope everyone on this thread has a better February.

peachgreen · 30/01/2024 17:45

I fervently hope that no month in my life will ever be as bad as the one in 2020 where…
DH was rushed to hospital and ended up in intensive care in a coma
DD (2) got a chemical burn at nursery and ended up in a different hospital
DH died suddenly and unexpectedly after being released from hospital
My brother was diagnosed with bowel cancer at the age of 32
My best friend’s dad was told he only had weeks to live
DD’s nursery closed down permanently with no notice

And this was all during lockdown 2. Hideous. I honestly don’t know how I’m still here!

TheSnootiestFox · 30/01/2024 18:06

Well, my mum died last week and is proving as challenging in death as she was in life (unpaid bills all over and no money left, just a semi derelict house and all due primarily to dragging her feet with giving me LPA) so I'd be delighted with a broken dishwasher personally......

Trusttheprocess1 · 30/01/2024 18:08

Some really sad stories here- I wish you all well xx

toomanydicksonthedancefloor1 · 30/01/2024 18:22

Thanks everyone for sharing and I'm sorry for everyone having rough times.

Do you know what Jan has been rubbish for my husband and I due to business problems and massive unexpected expenses.

BUT we can afford to live in our nice home, and have 2 healthy children. This time last year my husband was in ICU following septic shock and delirious. We thought he may have permanent brain damage. But he made a full recovery.

So yeah a better Jan than last year and helps me keep things in perspective!

Teasie123 · 30/01/2024 18:24

@FuckYouJanuary what is novovirus!?

UpUpUpU · 30/01/2024 18:26

A lovely race to the bottom thread 🙄

Everythjng is subjective, it isn’t a competition

Was that fluconazole? I had no idea that could happen

ChickenShedLife · 30/01/2024 18:36

My 10 year old had heart surgery. That was pretty shit.

DilemmaDelilah · 30/01/2024 18:46

I was told my cancer is life limiting (I should have a few years yet though) and my DH is being investigated for prostate cancer.

friskybivalves · 30/01/2024 18:54

Not going to detail mine as together it would all be outing but it does involve:

Sudden bereavement
Stolen car
Intruder in home
Victim of assault (separate incident 🙄)
Court appearance (separate incident)

And frankly there's the reason why I am too superstitious to celebrate New Year's Eve. You never know what January has in store, let alone the next 11 months.

Mammma91 · 30/01/2024 18:57

I’ve just had an all round rough month. Nothing in comparison to some posters. Hope February is a much better month for all. 💐

ThirtyThrillionThreeTrees · 30/01/2024 20:29

January has been awful for so many of you.

Hope things really improve positively for you all shortly.

Auldspinster · 30/01/2024 20:34

Lost my mum to pancreatic cancer in December.
Been in hospital for two weeks with unexplained infection after being ill with a flu like illness for 2 weeks prior to that. Home but still too exhausted to heat up soup so had cold chicken noodle straight from the tin.
