A lovely race to the bottom thread 🙄

Everythjng is subjective, it isn’t a competition

Oh, be quiet!

People are sharing their genuine stories!

How can you have a problem with that!?

Seriously!!?

Flatulence · 31/01/2024 17:37

Crikey, I thought my January was shit but some of you have been having a terrible time 💐.

My January included:

  • Emergency surgery for giant skin abscess and then daily dressing changes/packing
  • Broken tooth that then couldn't be numbed properly when it was being repaired but still cost shitloads to fix 😶
  • Pet being suddenly unwell and needing extensive tests and exploratory surgery
  • Horrific cold that wasn't covid but made me feel dreadful
  • Car insurance needed renewing and wad double what I paid last year.
  • Anniversary of my dad's sudden death
  • Having to fork out about £8 million (slight exaggeration) to replace ridge tiles and fence panels brought down by one of the storms
  • The icing on the cake yesterday was finding out I have to reapply for my own job because of a restructure at work.

What a load of old shit. No wonder I failed at dry January!

Car broke down, borrowed sons, crashed into, written off, norovirus, covid, ex refusing to pay maintainance, eldest made redundant... Oh the joys. Hoping for a Fab Feb to make up for it!

MentalHealthandFriends · 31/01/2024 21:53

I’m so very sorry that January has been so awful for so many of you.

I thought I’d had a tough month, but it’s nothing in comparison to some of you.

wishing each and every one of you so much love and I hope February is a better month for all of you xx

rooftopbird · 31/01/2024 22:28

I hope sharing has helped some of you if only for a moment, I'm so sorry to hear of these terrible experiences. Hang in there and hang on tight to your nearest and dearest, better days will come.

Elephantsarenottheonlyfruit · 31/01/2024 22:37

Dishwasher broke
Fence blew down (back garden) taking concrete posts with it
Car broke down got fixed broke again got fixed again broke AGAIN (towed home from work tonight)
Fence blew down (front garden)
Oven broke
Household afflicted by never ending cough
Cat ill
My child’s psychologist ill and can’t see him
His SENDCO and LA caseworker both suddenly left their jobs at Christmas no warning
He’s been too ill (never ending cough) to do his physio and this will set his recovery back
Have EHCPs for 2 kids at SEND appeal/tribunal (never ending work load)
January is a shitshow. Bring on February!

Yep she is a nasty oul month is January. Between storms, pet dying, new car needed, the evil depression monkey making its self known again to me, and just general exhaustion and weariness. Next year can we just all hibernate until March please and skip Jan/Feb. Hugs to everyone who has posted in here, I wish for nice things for you all in Feb xx

Christmasisalmosthere · 01/02/2024 01:13

Boiler broke and was expensively repaired, the following week I ran out of heating oil and had to get the plumber back.
Tumble dryer broke and I can't afford to get it fixed.
Deceased dh's funeral bill came in and I can't pay for it.
January's a terrible month generally and I'll try and remember this when I'm spending too much in December 24.

Chest infection
Unexpected £400 bill
3 weeks of night shifts (I'm supposed to do days) meaning I won't see 10yo ds for a significant portion of the month as he will be staying with his father
Fences in back garden came down in one of the storms, roof tiles broken in the storms
Leaking roof from aforementioned broken tiles caused damage to ceiling now needing replastering
Four wildly unsuccessful dates with four different people

I'm so tired

PhoenixStarbeamer · 01/02/2024 01:39

Name changed as so outing. My teen was violently attacked and needed emergency surgery. May need more. He waited hours, bleeding, for the police not to even show up. Awful month.

FiveShelties · 01/02/2024 06:10

Awful start to the year for so many - I am so sorry for you all and feel so very lucky.💐🍷🍰for you all.

Deathraystare · 01/02/2024 11:40

@Augustus40

I only took one once. I had such a stonking throbbing headache I thought I had a brain tumour! Funnily enough I was telling one of the girls at work about it yesterday.

Used to have regular bouts of thrush. Not surprisingly I got diabetes type 2 which is a tell tale sign.

Deathraystare · 01/02/2024 11:41

Looks like so many of you have had a shit month.

Touch wood only one thing for me - Friends up and coming funeral.
