Blimey. Well reading through this thread has put my woes into perspective. Wishing everyone a happier February 💐

peachgreen · 31/01/2024 09:51

Thank you @scorpio5 and @Kernackered – we’re doing okay. DD is 6 tomorrow! And she is a happy and secure little girl and that’s all I want.

So many hard stories on this thread. Sending Flowers to you all.

I swear all Januarys bring this much shit. I think it's because we're not supposed to do as much this time of year, in winter we should be resting not rushing around as usual. So people make more mistakes and become ill easier because they're run down. I've had a lot of shit this month as well. Bests me why this month is the one people choose to abstain from alcohol, I rarely drink but January is the only time I really want to l!

keepmumming · 31/01/2024 09:57

My husband started a new job earlier in the month and on his third day I crashed the car into his office. It's knocked down a huge section of the wall, significant structural damage.

My kids now remind me every day to not crash the car today please mummy as they didn't like it.

Dishwasher broke, Rent went up (again), Autistic daughter moved 1300km away and is clearly not coping, Mobile phone became burning hot in my pocket, started going “Whoop, Whoop, Whoop” and the screen was unresponsive. It had decided that I had had a fall at work (entirely possible) and sent notifications to my emergency contact list, including said daughter with ASD. Luckily they all rang DH, who rang work. Poor bloke who answered the door came running to find me and I was innocently drinking a cup of tea. Everyone at work told this story and I was embarrassed. (Also had to ring family and apologize for the fright.) Went for checkup on existing (but not remotely problematic up until now) heart condition to be told that I need surgery ASAP. Oh, and I have another issue that has caused end-stage heart failure. I have been put on meds which lower my BP, which would be fine if it was high - or even normal. I have low BP. Have been fainting like someone in a historic romance drama whose corset is too tight. Oh, and I’m on the heart transplant list.
January can go in the fucking bin.

I'm so sorry. This is so awful. 💐

Thank you 🙏🏻 it’s been a very surreal and tough start to the year, that’s for sure.

BlackeyedSusan · 31/01/2024 11:36

Yeah, my January is not as shit as some but it's into last straw syndrome. The long term daily grind of autistic teens plus my own disabilities...

ShennyInfinity · 31/01/2024 11:37

OMG!!! You poor things!!!! That's all horrendous, how does the saying go, God won't give you anymore than you can cope with In that case, you must all be extremely strong people!!!!! Praying your February is better 😯

notreadyandable · 31/01/2024 11:45

Broken knee
Got an eviction notice. After seven years.
That's right my landlord wants me to move with a broken knee. I can't get upstairs.

Augustus40 · 31/01/2024 12:25

Poor sods many of you.

Maybe I should count my blessings.

JamAtTwo · 31/01/2024 12:32

Fell out with mother
Fell out with adult son.

Both were impossibly unpleasant. True colours and all that.

On a more petty note, dieted healthily for a month and didn’t lose any weight.

On the positive side, less stressful people - actually no people - in my life.

pikkumyy77 · 31/01/2024 12:36

Just want to thank everyone in this thread for sharing their stories. Its not a “race to the bottom” thread but a share the darkness thread. I hope everyone’s February is kinder.

Iguessyourestuckwithme · 31/01/2024 12:41

I was made redundant
Got death threats of a neighbour
Was served an eviction notice as the landlord was selling up
Close teen relative was murdered

ComfortableAtLastTookLongEnough · 31/01/2024 12:48

On the upside

No council tax for the next two months.

My father died, my partner ended up on kidney dialysis with sepsis, then he lost his job of 22 years the week he went back to work.

Dogzombie · 31/01/2024 13:14

Sending you all lots of love xx

noooooooo · 31/01/2024 13:40

Well, that’s put the problems that had me having to do CBT this morning firmly in perspective. Sorry to everyone suffering through such terrible stress, illness and bereavement, hope you all know better days really soon 🌻

CactusMactus · 31/01/2024 15:22

I was feeling all grumpy that I hadn't lost any weight despite not drinking for a month! I will promptly get back in my box....

Whapples · 31/01/2024 15:33

So not this month but November 2023:

  • Dog passed away
  • Sister ended up being taken to a&e by police after running away (mental health stuff)
  • dad heart condition played up due to stress
  • got injured at work
  • injury at work led to new disability diagnosis
  • missed my PIP review deadline as dog passed.
  • failed a job observation
  • meeting with bosses to say my “spark had gone” in the last month so they want me to quit my career.
  • got transferred to another place of work to help with issues.

It was not a good month. But the important thing is that life has improved. 2023 in general was really tough but I’m alive and grateful. I do miss my gorgeous girl (dog) though.

life will improve but it’s okay to feel shitty after a shitty month, sending you love and good wishes for February!

Jewnicorn · 31/01/2024 16:16

We had a bit of a run during the cold snap - boiler and front door broke, got heating fixed only for the bedroom radiator to explode and flood through the living room ceiling. And then a child having a serious mental health crisis.
That said, I’d be able to cope with any of it if my toddler would JUST. BLOODY. SLEEP!!!

There have been better Januaries - but also worse ones and we’re all still standing so I’m taking it as a win.

Oh my gosh. How did that go down with his new employer?

Januaryisnearlyover · 31/01/2024 17:01

Being on suicide watch for my child. There are no words.
