I won a bet so my teen is spending all afternoon with me (out for lunch and a dog walk) and then entire evening with me in lounge with a takeaway, film and no gaming!!

This is a treat for me. But i want him to enjoy so film is about what he’s like. Any recent film recs.

The Kitchen on netflix?

He enjoys psychological dramas, guns, assassins - that kind of thing. Oh his recent favourite was 10 clover field lane (brilliant!)

Thank you

Missing is good- 2022 I think! A thriller with a great twist.

ComfyBoobs · 25/01/2024 12:02

Has he see the Sixth Sense? My teen (14) was completely wowed by it.

bigtoona · 25/01/2024 12:02

Sorry it's 2023- it has Nia Long in it

WHALESURPRISE · 25/01/2024 12:03

I want to know what the bet was 😂 and what you would have had to do if you'd lost!

Has he seen The Cabin in the Woods?

crumpet · 25/01/2024 12:04

Does it have to be a film? You could start a series together and binge a few episodes (which might lead to more time together to continue watching)

crumpet · 25/01/2024 12:08

Thirteen Lives is an excellent film. Think Netflix (and has good cast eg Vigo Mortensen) too There is a documentary about the cave rescue too on Disney, which is just as excellent if not more so. Nightly recommend

notjustthe · 25/01/2024 12:09

this is brilliant!

Cabin in the woods… no not seen. Recommend?

off to google the other suggestions

The Killer on netflix (starring Michael Fassbender, directed by the brilliant David Fincher) is a great movie if he's into assassins/guns.

alivio · 25/01/2024 12:24

and John Wick 4: wow! Very violent, but absolutely thrilling from start to finish!

shreknjumps · 25/01/2024 12:30

Start watching a series with him! Give him a reason to want to do it again.

Homeland? 24?

Or something like the Bourne trilogy.

DisforDarkChocolate · 25/01/2024 12:30

Do you have to stay in? Godzilla Minus One was one of the best films I've ever seen.

chandlerbytrade · 25/01/2024 12:33

John Wick is amazing, honestly a brilliant film. You can pay for it on Amazon Prime for £3.49 if it isn't available anywhere else.

We also loved 6 Underground and Rebel Moon series. Then classics like The Rock, Con Air. Can I suggest that you try to find a series though too because then you can watch that together. We have always done this with the kids, youngest is almost 18 now but we have just watched Fool Me Once and now Stay Close both on Netflix. We try to avoid anything with graphic sex in when we all watch together.

Brodpit · 25/01/2024 12:34

The Siege of Jadotville on Netflix is excellent. Based on a true story so history thrown in too.

Windymcwindyson · 25/01/2024 12:35

Extraction.. Even my ds 15 with ASD managed to watch the whole film. There is also a second one..
Wait for it...
Extraction 2!!
Prob in my top 10 ever films.

Brodpit · 25/01/2024 12:35

Second the Bourne films too. Even the one that doesn’t have Matt Damon in it. All excellent.

Hecatoncheires · 25/01/2024 12:35

Another vote for 'The Cabin in the Woods'. A (not particularly scary) horror film but with an interesting subplot. I'd happily watch it with my 15-year old. Have fun!
