I won a bet so my teen is spending all afternoon with me (out for lunch and a dog walk) and then entire evening with me in lounge with a takeaway, film and no gaming!!

This is a treat for me. But i want him to enjoy so film is about what he’s like. Any recent film recs.

The Kitchen on netflix?

He enjoys psychological dramas, guns, assassins - that kind of thing. Oh his recent favourite was 10 clover field lane (brilliant!)

Thank you

Prisoners is brilliant! My teen loves it.

One of the best thrillers ever and incredible cast.

RainBow725 · 25/01/2024 13:46

Love this. I have to bribe my DS2 to sit with me for an hour! Good suggestions above. I have just finished Hijack on Apple. I think very appealing for teen boy but also a good watch for mum!

Off to think of a bet I can win with 18 year old...

Has he see the Sixth Sense? My teen (14) was completely wowed by it.

Id forgotten how good this is, fantastic shout!

FunnysInLaJardin · 25/01/2024 14:31

My teens - 14 and 18 want to watch John Wick for our next film night.

Recently we have watched, and they have enjoyed Kill Bill 1, The Others and Oppenheimer.

We alternate between Kids v Adults choosing a film and on our lists are also interstellar, Pulp Fiction, Fargo and Oh Brother Where Art Thou.

@notjustthe

What about the Daniel Craig Bond movies?

Defiance - based on a true story I believe. Great film. Plenty of action for DS, tense, and relevant to much current day conflict in Ukraine and Gaza.

Mirabai · 25/01/2024 14:51

This made me laugh, how could anyone Not want to watch this with that recommendation!

KeepSmiling89 · 25/01/2024 14:57

How about Inception (Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt etc...)? It's my ultimate favourite movie and think it fits your favourite film criteria...

TheBayLady · 25/01/2024 15:11

Enjoy your time together

Love this movie.

Joanj · 25/01/2024 15:13

Two of my favourite films are 10 cloverfield lane and fracture (the one with Anthony Hopkins and Ryan gosling), so I recommend fracture.

Tetsuo · 25/01/2024 15:16

How about starting to watch all the Terminator or Alien movies, gives you plenty to watch in the future together.

DS and I recently watch all the Mad Max films, could be a possibility?

Yes to Terminator movies.

planning on going through all these tonight in prep for sat!

some ones have been suggested that i know he’s seen and enjoyed (baby driver, extraction)

the bet? that his tie wasn’t in his room and where had I (in my, mum) put it.
I said i haven’t seen it let alone moved it and that i’d bet it was in his room.
he said he could guarantee it wasn’t.

hence the bet . it was in his room.

if he’d won? take away pizza in his bedroom (usually strictly forbidden!) whilst gaming

Awesome parenting!

When I was left with our boys on my own now and then we had broccoli free weekends 😁

EarringsandLipstick · 25/01/2024 16:30

@notjustthe have you got my DS? (nearly 15, and whose idea of pure joy would be pizza in his bedroom while he gamed!

I love this thread! It sounds exactly like something that would happen in my house too.

re: movie rec - I'm sure he's seen them but both my DS love the Hangover movies. Crude and crazy enough for them, but the first one is clever and genuinely funny, I still enjoy watching and re-watching it, and get a kick out of my DSs laughing during it.

AnnPerkins · 25/01/2024 17:13

We had to ffw Terminator from around 80mins because of the sex scene that I had forgotten was in there.

Mirabai · 25/01/2024 17:18

Terminator 1 would look very low tech to a gen X.

notjustthe · 25/01/2024 17:48

cabin in the woods it is

thanks all some great suggestions in the future
