I won a bet so my teen is spending all afternoon with me (out for lunch and a dog walk) and then entire evening with me in lounge with a takeaway, film and no gaming!!

This is a treat for me. But i want him to enjoy so film is about what he’s like. Any recent film recs.

The Kitchen on netflix?

He enjoys psychological dramas, guns, assassins - that kind of thing. Oh his recent favourite was 10 clover field lane (brilliant!)

Thank you

Extraction is v good

orangelotus · 25/01/2024 12:38

Leave the world behind. Watched with my 25 year old son!!
Very appropriate as well no sex scenes!!!

MegBusset · 25/01/2024 12:39

The Menu (on Netflix) - psychological drama, gory and very funny!

Edit: sadly it seems to have fallen off Netflix, but you can rent on Amazon Prime.

Atethehalloweenchocs · 25/01/2024 12:44

It got panned, but I liked Rebel Moon. V for Vendetta - very old now but took my nephews and they were mind blown.

Bagpuss2022 · 25/01/2024 12:45

Wouldn’t rate Cabin in the wood we found it ridiculous.
films in have watched with teen DS that he has enjoyed are Lift , The last of us (series), , rogue hostage and the hit man bodyguard

enjoy your time with your boy it’s so rare and precious

chandlerbytrade · 25/01/2024 12:49

We make movie night a thing in this house so a Saturday lunch time in the lounge, we eat off plates on our laps. Series we watch after dinner for an hour meaning they still have a lot of free time to do their own thing too. Dinner is also a great time for chatting and at 15 they can help with dinner prep a couple of nights a week too.

DataColour · 25/01/2024 12:51

My DS 15 loved Parasite and The Menu.

AnnPerkins · 25/01/2024 12:57

DS14 loves Shutter Island, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Ocean's 11.

Also Bullet Train, Baby Driver.

Also The Last of Us if you're after a series to binge watch.

JingsMahBucket · 25/01/2024 13:03

I’ve heard Nope is excellent but I haven’t gotten around to watching it yet. There are so many shows and movies at the head of the list!

cheeseandketchupsandwich · 25/01/2024 13:05

No suggestions but this is lovely. An idea I may steal for when my 9yo gets to that age 😁

Have a lovely afternoon!

Out of curiosity, what was the bet?

StamppotAndGravy · 25/01/2024 13:07

The Night Manager? Maybe a bit too psychological and dark

spiderlight · 25/01/2024 13:08

Mine (16) absolutely loves Baby Driver and has watched it umpteen times. Lots of action and excellent music.

UrsulaBelle · 25/01/2024 13:10

My boys made me watch The Menu so can recommend. And Baby Driver if he hasn't already seen it.

Edited to add, and Bullet Train.

SuzyQ12 · 25/01/2024 13:14

Ah, that's lovely! Insidious?

ClaudiaWinklepanda · 25/01/2024 13:17

Extraction 2, the John Wicks films, Nobody, Get Out, obvs all the Bourne films.

I'd advise caution re Saltburn in case your lovely day together results in you never being able to make eye contact with each other again. 🛁⚰

411sleeper · 25/01/2024 13:17

Cabin in the woods for sure!

SausageAndEggSandwich · 25/01/2024 13:27

The original Nikita (French, subtitles)

Newestname002 · 25/01/2024 13:28

@notjustthe

What about the Daniel Craig Bond movies?

'Nobody' was very good. Dark comedy about an every day fella who is also an assassin. Bob Odenkirk is in it. Loads of good fight scenes, no awkward sex scenes to endure with your mum present also 😂. Enjoy!

Nicelynicelyjohnson · 25/01/2024 13:31

What would have happened if you lost the bet?

(I'd go for a series, Dopesick or Fool me once.)

pinkdelight · 25/01/2024 13:35

Not The Kitchen, it's very slow and not much happens. Some much better suggestions on this thread so have fun!

SecondUsername4me · 25/01/2024 13:36

A Quiet Place

SecondUsername4me · 25/01/2024 13:37

Also The Last of Us if you're after a series to binge watch

Excellent suggestion!

SecondUsername4me · 25/01/2024 13:38

Also great is The Martian. Not at all creepy/thriller but plenty of meat on its bones.

LenaLamont · 25/01/2024 13:40

Lift was good fun - a heist movie in mid air. It's on Netflix.
