I’ve asked MNHQ to add Thread 36 to the title. Sorry for being useless. 🙄

Thanks Blossomtoes.

So, Rwanda bill kicked into the long grass. Hopefully it will get run over by a lawnmower.

Interesting report on BBC "bias"

4-Drivers-of-perceptions-of-due-impartiality-the-BBC-and-the-wider-news-landscape.pdf (ofcom.org.uk)

What didn't get mentioned by the Government is that some people think it's biased to the Left and others think it's biased to the Right.

So what does that mean?

The Lucy Frazer/Beth Rugby interview was rather funny.

I have asked MN to delete mine

Thanks for the new thread Blossom Wine

pointythings · 22/01/2024 20:03

If both sides think it's biased against the other then they're probably getting it about right.

I have noticed that the government are no longer getting easy rides on the Today programme though - so maybe there's a pram/toy eviction thing goin on?

Notonthestairs · 22/01/2024 20:06

Thank you and looky here -

Truss' new family Popular Conservatism

"Whois data for the domain shows it was registered by Popular Development Partners Ltd, a company co-owned by Mark Littlewood."

Mark Littlewood of Institute of Economic Affairs (Tufton Street) and who was turned down for a peerage.
Truss hasn't learnt a damn thing - I appreciate that's not a massive surprise but the idea she's waiting to wreck the same damage all over again is pretty galling to me.

Notonthestairs · 22/01/2024 20:07

Brilliant pisstake of the Frazier interview

So Sunak loses the first vote on Rwanda in the HoL, 214-171.

The full debate on the Safety of Rwanda bill starts properly next week

TokyoSushi · 22/01/2024 20:20

Evening all!

So, is there a chance that the Rwanda nonsense doesn't get through the Lords? Is it a real possibility? What happens then?

L1ttledrummergirl · 22/01/2024 20:26

That interview with Kay Burley. How stupid do you have to be to be offered a position in the cabinet. Perhaps you need an iq of 20 because anything higher will make Sunak look dense. Why else would this government be so piss poor?

It wouldn't have anything to do with all those with intelligence, empathy, decency and honour leaving the cess pit that we have left would it?

Unfortunately this would be funny, except they are responsible for keeping the wheels on our country, but seem intent on prising them off instead. That interview is indicative of just how appalling this government is.

L1ttledrummergirl · 22/01/2024 20:26

Thanks for the thread by the way.

I think they've just voted not to ratify and will debate next week.
Then ping pong...

Thanks for the new thread. @BIossomtoes

RafaistheKingofClay · 22/01/2024 20:41

Thanks for the thread.

Wan’t their a Lord committee last week that rejected the Rwanda treaty on the basis that they needed more proof Twanda was safe? I’m not sure the Rwanda Bill can get through without that anyway.
