London, so the least affected, in theory - but our gates and fences are rattling madly, and a couple of rubbish bins have gone rolling down the road

Wild in Scottish Highlands.

JellyfishandShells · 21/01/2024 22:18

Shrub in a big pot on a wheeled platform (in front of little used back gate, so needs to be relocated occasionally) which could not possibly move without strong human intervention, according to my DH this am, is currently twirling slowly around the end patio with a broken branch sticking out, looking like a leafy Dalek.

SW London.

DistressSignal · 21/01/2024 22:18

Praying my horse is ok and that my stables don't blow away (Exmoor)..... Wish I could bring her into the house but obviously not an option!

aintnospringchicken · 21/01/2024 22:20

We're in the East of Scotland and it's blowin' a hoolie out there.

LondonQueen · 21/01/2024 22:20

We're in a rural northern village and part of my fence has collapsed. I was only saying a few weeks ago about getting a new fence as I didn't like the style anymore.

A light breeze in South Wales.... although they have closed a section of the motorway nearby, so they must be expecting it to get worse.

I must live near (ish) you. I've also heard the m4 is going to be closed. I'm south west Wales, and it's very windy and wet here.

Barrenfieldoffucks · 21/01/2024 22:20

Isle of Wight, very wet and windy!

StuckintheRutt · 21/01/2024 22:20

Extremely windy obviously and wind making curtains move even though window shut...

I think 11pm is the worst of it and then it subsides

campingmama · 21/01/2024 22:20

South Wales and more wet than windy at the moment, on the plus side it focussed the dogs mind on his last walk of the night, took me longer to get my coat on than him to do his business and drive back towards the house!

eurochick · 21/01/2024 22:21

On top of a hill in Surrey. It is howling outside now. There was a spate of things hitting the windows earlier (it sounded like stones but was probably twigs and small branches - it was pitch black so we couldn't see). In the Feb 2022 storm we lost a massive beech tree that caused thousands of pounds worth of damage so I am hoping we get through this one unscathed. 🤞

Bimblesalong · 21/01/2024 22:22

I’m glued to the flight radar thread. It’s frisky up there and a huge number of diversions in place.

Same… in Dundee. Not the worst gale I’ve heard. It’s gonna be trampoline madness in the morning; some people losing theirs overnight, others finding a new one in their garden

Lupin61 · 21/01/2024 22:23

Very windy in Derbyshire. Sounds like the house is going to blow down!

StuckintheRutt · 21/01/2024 22:23

@LondonQueen that's good timing for you.. I must admit our fence came down in the last massive storm and it did us a favour actually..

However now we have wonderful new fences I really don't want the expense of repairing them.

ShiftySquirrel · 21/01/2024 22:27

East Anglia. It's sounding very dramatic out there.

I've got my fingers crossed that the greenhouse remains intact, the trampoline stays put and the patio set doesn't end up next door.

We'll see what we get in the morning!

IHS · 21/01/2024 22:27

Moderately windy with a bit of rain.

dontforgetme · 21/01/2024 22:28

West Midlands, fence has blew down.

Fluffyfleece · 21/01/2024 22:29

South, rain and wind.

Front door rattling alarmingly.

AllFunAndGamesUntilYoureRunningForTheLastTrain · 21/01/2024 22:29

My bed is shaking!

I live in a solid, brick built 1950’s house and, when the gusts suddenly blow really fiercely, my bed actually shakes.
Dread to think what state the side fence will be in, it’s the oldest bit as all the others have been replaced. We have a gazebo with a covered roof that I’m worried about too. Keeping everything crossed atm.

CalamityA · 21/01/2024 22:30

Colchester.

It's bloody terrifying tbh!

2jacqi · 21/01/2024 22:32

@sharptoothlemonshark in scotland, we are on tornado watch!!!! yikes!!

ErinAoife · 21/01/2024 22:32

Roof well the felt or whatever you call it rip away from the wooden playhouse. Half the town without electricity by luck I am not affected

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 21/01/2024 22:32

Fingers crossed we are ok so far. House has taken a beating with every single storm since last September.

Avacardo2023 · 21/01/2024 22:32

London. It's awful here. I heard something smash in the garden an hour ago (goodness knows what) and something hit one of our windows. I think there will be a lot of local damage by morning.

BirthdayRainbow · 21/01/2024 22:32

It is scaring my dog a bit and tbh I'm feeling pretty vulnerable too. I'm here with just my animals and it feels so close. Seeing my dog scared is very upsetting.
