Just seen this on X / Twitter relating to the Krakow to Bristol flight I was tracking earlier when it failed to land at Bristol. Sounds like they had a terrible journey altogether and landing at Stansted wasn't easy either...

The BA 911 has been round the houses, too, will come over my house shortly.

Hope they manage to land safely.

Why are so many being rerouted to MAN? What is it about that airport that lets them land?

Large airport = space I guess. We've taken 3 or 4 planes tonight here in Newcastle, but we are a small airport, so that will be us nose-to-tail full now.

PolledandBolled · 21/01/2024 21:09

Can anyone see what’s going on with RYR31NM it’s on its 4th attempt but others have landed fine at Dublin in last 3 mins!

Ionacat · 21/01/2024 21:09

Barcelona to Gatwick is off again after second failed attempt.

cheesychipsontheoche · 21/01/2024 21:07

Looks like Gatwick is very challenging at the moment

Yes I'm watching as the planes are circling over my head. Poor Wizz air from krakow had two attempts and now appears to have headed to Amsterdam, and a BA from Geneva is back over France. They're not even getting below 3000ft, obviously can't even contemplate trying to get it down at the moment.

Andywarholswig · 21/01/2024 21:10

Just been watching my brothers flight coming into LHR, from Barcelona they got down alright 50 mins late but just text me to say that it was very hairy indeed - lots of screaming and crying.

Moaning5 · 21/01/2024 21:10

@Blueplaque that’s the one I’m watching, and the 777 that’s right behind it

Dibblydoodahdah · 21/01/2024 21:11

I had an aborted landed at Heathrow last year seconds before touchdown. That wasn’t due to bad weather (there was another plane that shouldn’t have been on the runway in front of us) but I really feel for the passengers having multiple aborted landings tonight. I was shaking as we went round for attempt two!

Going round for a second time, wonder if the 777 will get down.

That’s what I keep wondering. Surely they’ll get low on fuel soon

mummyh2016 · 21/01/2024 21:12

TUI SSH-GLA just gone around.

mauvish · 21/01/2024 21:13

The flight from Iasi to Dublin seems to have landed on the first attempt, but the Ryanair from Berlin is still out over the sea after 2 (?) failed attempts - I wonder why?

TotoAnnihiliation · 21/01/2024 21:13

@Knitgoodwoman we watched him on flight radar and heard him flyover. Tell him he had sparked a new hobby with me and my DH, we are both enjoying tracking the planes.

dyspraadhauwtaf63 · 21/01/2024 21:13

Rome to LGW attempted to land again but aborted . Has flown over our house once this evening!

3luckystars · 21/01/2024 21:13

I’m so glad I’m not going anywhere today. Love this thread so much!

TeaandHobnobs · 21/01/2024 21:13

Obviously I feel for the passengers, who must be feeling very stressed, and the pilots who must be feeling the pressure… but air traffic control must be having a hell of a night trying to keep on top of all of this, both at airports and en route for those that are diverting!

Ionacat · 21/01/2024 21:14

Nothing seems to be able to land at Gatwick.

BabbleBee · 21/01/2024 21:14

I’m south of Gatwick and it’s really gusty here. Shame BigJetTV isn’t live now!

Why are so many being rerouted to MAN? What is it about that airport that lets them land?

Do you mean weather wise? I'm in the NW and wind not bad at all here, its quite calm actually so can understand why they are being diverted to Liverpool and Manchester

couiza · 21/01/2024 21:15

Since I was one of the people wondering why flights are not cancelled much and attempts are made to land in bad weather and often divert, I've just read this on my news feed from the Irish Times newspaper about Dublin Airport. Sorry can't link I'm not on the same device. Anyway it's paywalled.

" 7pm update. So far today airlines have cancelled a total of 114 flights, 58 incoming and 56 departing. 36 flights have diverted to other airports with 27 go arounds."

Myn · 21/01/2024 21:15

What's flyover? For hearing pilots?

Washingscreenofdoom · 21/01/2024 21:15

LTN - EDI going again.

Cudz · 21/01/2024 21:15

Berlin to Dublin now descending so hopefully this landing attempt will be successful!

dailyduel · 21/01/2024 21:15

Luton to Edinburgh aborted its landing.
