I need to be up for the commute to work at 5am but to be honest I'm not sure that will be a go tomorrow anyway so I might as well stay up til Istanbul lands (somewhere..)

wildernesssw · 21/01/2024 23:39

I tell a lie, Lanzarote a go around

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 21/01/2024 23:39

Can't believe I've been FRing alone with a partner saying "I'm not interested, stop showing me" for hours without knowing this thread was here.

WUK828 (Istanbul - Gatwick) is beginning to worry me...

wildernesssw · 21/01/2024 23:39

No, I was right the first time 😂

Tinkerbyebye · 21/01/2024 23:39

The Lanzarote flight landed ok at Gatwick so not sure why Istanbul and Zurich couldn’t

wildernesssw · 21/01/2024 23:40

Several have landed at Gatwick, Istanbul and Zurich have both tried twice...

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 21/01/2024 23:41

That Tenerife one isn’t on arrivals list for Amsterdam.

SurreyMumOfOne · 21/01/2024 23:41

Where to divert to will be decided by the airline ops control centre, based on various data points, first and foremost what range the aircraft has left. Thereafter it will depend on where they have crew, ground crew, want an aircraft to end up, haven't already overloaded with other diversions and so on.

In addition to ATC, these guys will also be hard at work this evening.

notimagain · 21/01/2024 23:41

TiptopTommy · 21/01/2024 23:37

I’ve been wondering all evening, if anyone knows the answer to this? Who actually makes the decisions about multiple attempts to land and diversions? Is there a discussion between the pilot and ATC about whether to try again or divert, and where to divert to, or is it solely the decision of one or the other?

Airline dependent but some have a rule of two goes, then divert (unless after attempt two the weather suddenly obviously improves).

Where to go is usually down to the piot in command, but it's nice if you have warning and there's time to run it past the company via some means of comms because they might have preferences..but at the end of the day it's usually the captain/crew get the final say.

Edinburgh airport is showing it as On Approach!

BalloonsInWater · 21/01/2024 23:41

Lanzarote ok but Munich going round again. Algiers having a go next.

I think this is where British Airways and similar airlines come good - their pilots are more experienced and I'd definitely rather be on a BA flight than a WizzAir flight tonight.

Yes, I wonder if they will go to stansted like the other Wizz air that tried twice at Gatwick.

Tinkerbyebye · 21/01/2024 23:42

The Munich flight at Gatwick is also going around again is Istanbul heading towards Heathrow?

Mummyofthewildones · 21/01/2024 23:42

Is wizz heading to Heathrow?!

Pinksnowstars · 21/01/2024 23:43

Antalya - LTN just missed again

trainboundfornowhere · 21/01/2024 23:43

Looks like the Tenerife flight could be headed for Cologne.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 21/01/2024 23:43

@notimagain When I select the airport I can select arrivals, departures lists. It might be gold on the subscription as I signed up for the free 14 days subscription 😁

I think it’s too high for Amsterdam

venusandmars · 21/01/2024 23:43

Reykavik has landed in Edinburgh

The earlier flights were unlucky - half an hour later and they'd have been OK (but bumpy)
