@Hab788 I used to use Leeds Bradford a lot when I lived near there and had several hairy landings and a couple of diversions over the years.

Zonder · 21/01/2024 23:33

Istanbul almost down. Then I might go to bed.

What’s the flight number for the Tenerife one heading to Amsterdam? Can only see 5 top flights in my phone. I love mY FR subscription though!

Tenerife HAS to be going to Amsterdam surely?!

SurreyMumOfOne · 21/01/2024 23:34

I fully aware that flights will often drivert to another airport at which the airline has a hub, so with the staff etc. ready to deal with the onward journey.

Ryanair has just landed that diverted Leeds flight in Glasgow... why wouldn't their TFE-EDI flight try Glasgow. It's heading off over The Wash.

cakeorwine · 21/01/2024 23:34

Bedtime now.

Someone will have to start a new thread soon

Looks like Tenerife-Edinburgh is also heading to Amsterdam? Not sure why when there have been two recent landings at Edinburgh and Glasgow

Onacuctustree · 21/01/2024 23:34

The fact is no matter what, all the planes get down somewhere. It might be inconvenient. But safety trumps everything.
Nights like this reaffirm my belief in pilots.

Looking likely..

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 21/01/2024 23:35

37000 seems high for Amsterdam but where else would it be going?

It's definitely an experience isn't it! X

BalloonsInWater · 21/01/2024 23:35

Oh my god they can't go to Amsterdam surely?!

You never really see Glasgow and Edinburgh flights divert to the other one after an abort. I wonder if they’re just too close for getting up and down?

Moaning5 · 21/01/2024 23:36

WizzAir is off again

Roastiesarethebestbit · 21/01/2024 23:36

Multiple go arounds at Gatwick

wildernesssw · 21/01/2024 23:36

Istanbul and Zurich are both doing multiple trips around SE England...

TiptopTommy · 21/01/2024 23:37

I’ve been wondering all evening, if anyone knows the answer to this? Who actually makes the decisions about multiple attempts to land and diversions? Is there a discussion between the pilot and ATC about whether to try again or divert, and where to divert to, or is it solely the decision of one or the other?

ohmydiddlydays · 21/01/2024 23:37

Moaning5 · 21/01/2024 23:36

It's been over my head about six times I think . They've got to go somewhere else now, surely.

Zonder · 21/01/2024 23:37

Looks like Istanbul is off to the south Downs!

SurreyMumOfOne · 21/01/2024 23:37

Yes I thought that, but surely there must be a way for them to do a lap around and reposition for the other one? Perhaps not, but I'm curious to know!

IceWhites · 21/01/2024 23:38

Will make a new thread in a mo :)

wildernesssw · 21/01/2024 23:38

Lanzarote down at Gatwick
