Shorts over swimming costume

Does anyone do this ?

I do aqua fit a few times a week and although my costume is really well fitting and comfortable, I can't deal with the worry of an arse cheek or worse falling out

I don't want a leg suit because I'm fat and they aren't very forgiving but thought some slim fitting swim shorts over my costume might work

Does anyone do this ?

Why?!

Surely if you're in the pool, no-one would be able to see anything under the water?

LIZS · 16/01/2024 12:45

Tankini shorts to match your costume?

Singleandproud · 16/01/2024 12:45

DD wears men's trunks over her swimming costume. If it makes you more comfortable go for it. I'd be inclined to go for swim leggings though more than shorts. Have a look at 'modesty' swimwear and I'm sure you'll find something appropriate

I go swimming a lot and in the last couple of years I’ve seen more and more people with swim leggings - including men, not just women - or tight neoprene shorts.

Terrribletwos · 16/01/2024 12:48

Yes. I wear tankini shorts. They don't particularly match but I feel more comfortable than just wearing costume alone and comfort for me counts above style/aesthetic.

Oakdog · 16/01/2024 12:48

I have some swim shorts to wear over my costume like short leg board shorts. They were from mountain warehouse, although they don't sell them anymore by the look of it. I love them, they make me much more confident in and around the pool.

JennyBeanR · 16/01/2024 12:48

I wear swim leggings to hide loose skin and fat 🙈.
The problem with shorts is that they tend to rise and bounce in the water.

lljkk · 16/01/2024 12:53

Legsuit or jammers.

GreenBanana445 · 16/01/2024 12:53

I also have some short board shorts. Totally recommend them, they’re very lightweight and give you peace of mind. I felt particularly smug about them in the CentreParcs pools & slides.
These ones from Decathlon: OLAIAN Tana Women's Boardshorts - Black £14.99

I've worn board shorts over my swimsuit in the past but it's not the most comfortable solution - especially if you are moving around a lot in aquarobics. I bought this swimsuit from decathlon and it's a really nice fit (I'm a size 18/20), it's like an all in one tankini with a loose fitting top and cycling short bottoms.

That all in one from decathlon looks like the perfect solution

Swim dress.

steppemum · 16/01/2024 13:51

my teen dd and most of her friends like to wear mens swim shorts over their costumes, noone bats and eyelid, they feel more confortable

BezMills · 16/01/2024 14:05

nothing wrong with wearing shorts or a rash vest over a cossie, if that makes you feel more comfortable.

chaosmaker · 16/01/2024 14:21

yep and I know people that wear a t shirt too. Whatever makes you comfy. Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks :)

ManchesterLu · 16/01/2024 14:24

Wear what makes you feel comfortable. Buy a pair of men's trunks to put on over your costume if it helps. Do whatever you need to do to be able to enjoy yourself without worrying :).

WashedUpHasBeen · 16/01/2024 14:27

I do on holiday when swimming in the sea, its for when I get out so that people do not see any camel toe or pubes/rash😆

TheGhostILoveTheMost · 16/01/2024 14:44

I bought this today Swim suit £15 sports direct

Coldupnorth7 · 16/01/2024 14:45

I wear a boyleg swimsuit.

It's so much better.

I go to swim not look good (built for comfort so that boat has sailed), so I don't think about anything but comfort.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 16/01/2024 14:48

I wear these swimsuits 'boyleg' style for aqua fit and I'm 5ft8 with a long body so usually find swimsuits difficult to source

Also have tankini tops and mens swimshorts as an alternative, primark mens swim shorts are under £5 and often have zip up pockets which are great for locker keys.

Second these!

They are great. Comfortable, fitted enough - not skin itght but not flappy.

DD has them, actually wears them as bikini bottoms.

MuchasSmoochas · 16/01/2024 15:01

Board shorts on Amazon, they are fab, careful about sizing as the ones I ordered came up small.

Yougetmoreofwhatyoufocuson · 16/01/2024 17:56

Seafancy have a rubbish return policy and they are shipped out from Florida.

Redshoeblueshoe · 16/01/2024 18:09

I've got a tankini from sports direct. It's shorts and a long line top.
