Do you wash your hands after a wee in the night?

It’s the middle of the night and you’re up for a wee. (Assume you’ve just dabbed yourself dry with loo roll, no other bodily fluids present!) Do you do a full 30 second soap and water hand wash vs after? A quick water-only rinse, and pat dry? Not wash at all and go straight back to bed? Something else completely?

I’ve often wondered what others do but too afraid to ask in real life 🫢

I always have a good rummage through the open cereal packets before I go back to bed 😉

Cackling at this! 😁

Daddysgirl47 · 15/01/2024 22:55

Your imagination is what’s creepy. I am / was a daddy’s girl and I’m 47. Simple as that. What a strange thing to comment!

uncomfortablydumb53 · 15/01/2024 22:55

No I don't( boiler is loud and there is a flat above me)
I don't flush at night for the same reason

thinslicedham · 15/01/2024 22:56

It wouldn't occur to me not to. I don't think anything terrible would happen if I didn't, but I'd feel dirty. I don't scrub them like I've just cleaned a chicken, but I do use soap and water.

Mindyourfunkybusiness · 15/01/2024 22:56

Only if I touch anything. If I just wee and use a lot of tp and hands are clean, I won't. But I leave door ajar to not touch even the handle inside. Basically if I touch anything or have fluids on me yes hand-wash or I'll be paranoid I'll wake with pinkeye or something 😂
If I manage to not touch anything I will waddle back into bed without washing hands.

Nah. Quick wee, right back to bed. No flushing and no hand washing. Then when I wee before I get up I wash my hands thoroughly.

You wee before you get up??

CaramelMac · 15/01/2024 22:56

Is getting up in the night to pee a common thing? I don’t think I’ve ever done it in my life. Once I’m in bed that’s it for the next 8 hours.

Daddysgirl47 · 15/01/2024 22:56

@EffieGraysDisappointingWeddingNight my comment was to you.

ithinkthatmaybeimdreaming · 15/01/2024 22:56

No, and I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks.

Such a luxury, long may it last for you.

Violinist64 · 15/01/2024 22:57

Yes, of course I do. I wouldn’t dream of not doing so. I am amazed and disgusted at the numbers of people here admitting that they wouldn’t.

porridgeisbae · 15/01/2024 22:57

Eww. Yes. Germs don't know what time of day it is.

Fink · 15/01/2024 22:57

No, I want to get back to sleep!

If I need to put the toilet seat up or down, I'll use my foot, and wait until morning to wash it in the shower. I can also flush with my foot if needed, but I don't flush at night.

Maybe I'm a vile bag of germs, but I don't share my bed so I'm only infecting myself!

Peaceandquietandacuppa · 15/01/2024 22:58

Nope and haven’t died yet - nor has anyone I share a bed with 🤭

Oh, to be 22 again...

Daddysgirl47 · 15/01/2024 22:58

@EffieGraysDisappointingWeddingNight how on earth is that creepy? Only someone with a sick mind would think so.

Sidehustlequestion · 15/01/2024 22:58

Another minger that runs straight back to bed! The first thing I do in the morning is shower and as previous poster said, I don’t pee on my hands! We don’t flush or run taps in the night in case it wakes anyone else up, this was always our rule growing up and I feel like I’m committing a crime if I flush the toilet after lights out now.

CaramelMac · 15/01/2024 22:58

you must find yourself amazed by things on a daily basis if this is your reaction to night time wee wee habits.

Blinky21 · 15/01/2024 22:59

Posters saying they only touch loo roll like the loo roll is clean and not hanging out next to the loo

AndThatWasNY · 15/01/2024 23:00

Is your wee really smelly or steaming? That sounds like a trip to the GPs. Mine is very unsmelly unless of course I've eaten asparagus....

Mrsmch123 · 15/01/2024 23:00

I very rarely wake in the night but if i did I would wash for .3 seconds then back to bed 🙈

Throwingpots · 15/01/2024 23:01

It’s just a wee, in your own home, toilet paper between your hand and a possible wee drip. I also don’t flush, inconsiderate to wake up family in bedrooms next to bathroom in the middle of the night.
Also, does no one here have a quick crouch pee when out hiking or camping. Not many sinks and taps behind the average tree.

zeibesaffron · 15/01/2024 23:02

full wash with soap!
