We just had tomato soup (home made) with cheesy crusty bread, simple food but so comforting! It really hit the spot for lunch

What is your go-to comfort food?

Mashed potato on toast under the grill with cheese and Tabasco, served hot with ketchup.

ThreeRingCircus · 14/01/2024 14:26

Anything really simple but delicious is my comfort food. I totally agree with tomato soup and bread being up there!

I also love:

Cheese on toast, done under the grill with worcestershire sauce.

Poached eggs on granary toast.

A big bowl of pasta or gnocchi in a creamy/cheesy sauce.

Jacket potato with melted cheese and a spoonful of sour cream with chives.

ThreeRingCircus · 14/01/2024 14:28

Basically.......cheese and carbs from looking at my list 😂.

gingercat02 · 14/01/2024 14:29

Eating it now. Cheese and crackers

Echobelly · 14/01/2024 14:29

Macaroni cheese is a top notch one for me.

murasaki · 14/01/2024 14:30

Macaroni cheese with bacon is coming up later. 4 cheeses.

Onceyoupopyoushouldstop · 14/01/2024 14:31

A slice of homemade steak and ale pie, chips and gravy 😋 👌

Can I come for dinner pleass

LenaLamont · 14/01/2024 14:33

Soup or pasta. Also crumble with custard.

Basically soft foods I associate with being given when poorly.

Cuppachuchu · 14/01/2024 14:34

A fried egg sandwich. Soft white bread, salted butter, runny yolk. With a mug of builder's tea. I like the simple things. 😁

Anything easy that usually contains carbs and cheese. But ultimately DH makes the best cottage pie and that is my favourite comfort food.

Cuppachuchu · 14/01/2024 14:36

Or, crumpets with cheddar and chutney toasted till bubbling.

BlastedPimples · 14/01/2024 14:36

Mashed potato with fried onions and ladlefuls of gravy.

Yorkshire pudding too.

allaboardtheskytrain · 14/01/2024 14:36

Beans on toast (branston beans)
Cheesy mashed potato/jacket potato with cheese
Apple crumble

I can't even imagine what led you to put all this together in the first place tbh. It's a joke right?

DelilahBucket · 14/01/2024 14:40

Cheese is definitely a theme with comfort food here too! Mac n cheese with lardons and my other one is a chilli on top of melted cheese on tortilla chips with homemade guacamole, soured cream and jalapenos.

That's rank!!

TiaSeeya · 14/01/2024 14:43

We have cottage pie I made in the oven now, that’s got to be up there.

A big bowl of clam chowder.

Dal.

Soft, salty, creamy stuff!

Gowlett · 14/01/2024 14:45

Just tea & toast. Beans on toast, too.
