Comfort food - what's your favorite?

We just had tomato soup (home made) with cheesy crusty bread, simple food but so comforting! It really hit the spot for lunch

What is your go-to comfort food?

@frozendaisy I have a confession 🙈 when there's leftover mashed potato in the saucepan, I add a big dollop of full fat salad cream, stir it up and eat it out of the pan with a spoon 🤤 my sister jokes this is why I am single 🤣

Homemade scotch broth, has to be grated neep and carrot, im fussy.

Fishfinger sandwich, got to be bird's eye, white sliced bread, mayo.

Either pasta or baked beans

Cauliflower cheese

Creamy, garlicky white winey risotto 🤤

Macaroni cheese is my go to comfort food but when I need comfort food I can never be bothered to make it properly. So I eat what is known in our house as "Rachel's Depression Pasta" which is just grated cheese on hot pasta. If I'm lucky, my dh will sometimes make what he calls cheesy bacony pasta, which is even better than my version because it has bacon in it!

Lately, almond nuts. Small portions are quite filling I find.

Jacket potato with left over curry, chicken preferably, something homemade and creamy like butter chicken or tikka masala but with a good kick of chilli , salty crusty potato skin.... Delicious

A packet of those spicy ‘mama’ ramen noodles, but the noodles cooked and then the water drained off, and then fried in sesame oil with the soup base powder, and an egg scrambled into it. Eaten in bed with a cat.

Very weird one and probably related to hospital admission history but ice. I love it. You get your own nurse in ITU so unless you’re crashing they’re basically at your beck and call apart from their admin and mine got so used to my ice craving that I just got a new jug every thirty minutes after a while (don’t worry, the ice thing machine was about ten feet away so she wasn’t too badly burdened and managed to be there when my heart did actually stop). I still sit in the a and e waiting room panting for it until I get warded.
if you want actual food, some perfect crusty bread with salty butter.

Baked camenbert with fresh crusty bread for dipping and red wine.

Variation of macaroni cheese. Spaghetti pasta instead of macaroni, and the cheese sauce has onion in it and uses Red Leicester cheese
Sourdough toast with avocado and sundried tomatoes or with hot tinned tomatos and melted cheese.

Basically anything with melted cheese works.

Cheesy mash
Crumpets with butter
Sultana scones with clotted cream and cherry conserve
Chips.... lots of chips with lashings of salt and vinegar and maybe a thickly buttered white doorstep chunk of fresh bread

Pasta with tomato sauce and indecent amounts of grated mature cheddar

Egg and bacon sandwich

Crispy baked potato with loads of butter, cheddar cheese and jalapeños on top

Cheesy beans on white toast. Sometimes I spread cream cheese on the toast before adding the beans 😋

Basically any combination of cheese with carbs.

oh French toast/eggy bread is my go to comfort lunch I like mine savoury lots of salt and pepper and a cup of tea .
