I usually like the gastro ones from McCain's but they are quite pricey

On the hunt for some alternatives for a cheeky mid week easy dinner

Sainsbury's extra crispy with skin on.
So good!

Forcedoutoflurking · 14/01/2024 19:13

Aldi chunky chips are fantastic!

greasypolemonkeyman · 14/01/2024 19:18

Rat like the aldi skin on fries in the air fryer, and my DH LOVES the Lidl triple cooked fries.

mrsdolittle · 14/01/2024 19:20

Another vote for Aldi skin on fries. Their salt and pepper ones are good too

TheCurlyKnobhead · 14/01/2024 19:48

Skin on chips should be outlawed, I really don't like them and I'm fed up of ordering things with chips and they come with skins on 🤮.

Anyway, Aldi do big fat chips in a black bag, think it's one of their extra special range or whatever it's called. They are good

These

Correct

SwirlyShirly · 14/01/2024 20:00

Good old McCain home fries straight cut come up well in the air fryer.

Groovee · 14/01/2024 20:01

I like the Harry Ramsdens ones from iceland.

Whilst I don’t usually do chips on weekdays, I do cook every day and some meals take more than an hour to cook. Well most meals do and I think it’s time well spent.

I’d love to have that time every evening unfortunately, with work, the commute and children’s hobbies, meals usually need to
take a maximum of 20 mins mid week.

Bikechic · 14/01/2024 21:07

I just chop potatos, skin still on, oil on and in the oven. No peeling, no parboiling. Works great. Simples.

Greentrilby · 14/01/2024 21:09

Another vote for Aldi skin on fries. They are gorgeous.

We don’t have Albert Bartlett products any more since we discovered the links to fox hunting

I had no idea, that’s one to boycott, thank you.

Melgin · 14/01/2024 21:20

I don’t care how nice the chips taste, I won’t support this.

Aldi beef dripping. Bloody lovely!

and their skin on fries

Catlover1705 · 14/01/2024 21:23

Another vote for Aldi skin on fries.

Comethefuckonbridget1 · 14/01/2024 21:26

Another vote for skin on - sainsburys Asda and Aldi all great

I make my own often. I slice, rinse in cold water then in oven whacked up to highest setting with oil, ensure they're spread out widely and they can be ready in 30 mins.

Sometimes I leave skin on. Sometimes I cut into rounds as that's even quicker than slicing up for chips.

I'd rather spend that time lying on the sofa, reading, and drinking a glass of wine. But wouldn't life be dull if we were all the same?

kitsuneghost · 14/01/2024 21:31

They are on clubcard price deal at Tesco just now.
I normally buy the Aldi thick cut

caringcarer · 14/01/2024 21:56

I like McCains home fries because they are chunkier for air fryer.

Charming

HardStareBear · 14/01/2024 22:40

Aldi Rosemary & Seasalt Ziggy Fries are lovely. Just cook them for a little longer than the packet suggests to make them go properly crisp on the outside.

I just chip the potatoes, par boil for 2 mins, put them on a lightly oiled tray at 6 for 40 mins

Do you peel the potatoes?
What size do you cut them?

ClaudiaWrinklemum · 14/01/2024 18:15

Strong Roots skinny fries (if you want skinny fries!) are unbeatable.

They're the best fries - sweet potato ones are amazing too

ThePoshUns · 14/01/2024 23:18

Asda skin on fries when I can get them
