What wintery dish are you cooking today?

I've got time today to pop to the shops and put a stew or something in the oven.
It's so cold today, so the idea of the oven on, slow cooking something is appealing.

Im here seeking inspiration and trying to find some joy in this freezing weather.

Chicken with thyme and red pepper chilli jam, oven roast veg and baked potatoes.

Chicken casserole with roasted sweet potatoes been cooking in the slow cooker from early this morning....oxtail tomorrow 😋

Sausages and homemade wedges today, so not particularly wintery!

I just looked up a recipe for stilton dumplings so will be making those with beef casserole very soon.

Beef stew in the slow cooker now for tea tomorrow. Second day stews the best 👌

Pot roast venison with cauliflower cheese, carrots and broccoli. Lovely.
Although, DS came home and said 'oh.no, it was stew for lunch as well' 🙄

Mushroom risotto

Pierogi in beef broth, sticks to your ribs, as my Mother would say.

Do you use any particular recipe for your pierogi? I love sting them but have never tried making them.

I made a chicken, leek and mushroom pie last night and we'll have the other half tonight. Tomorrow is curry night and then I'm making fish pie for the weekend.

Pad Thai noodles, can't wait. Making it spicy.

Cassoulet. Yum.

Cottage pie with minimal potato but loads of mince!

Sausages, mashed potatoes, veg, gravy and Yorkshire pudding.

I use the Hairy Bikers recipe and method from the BBC website. They make easy mushroom and cabbage pierogi, but sometimes I change the filling, depending what I've got available, Cheese and onion, cheese and ham, mushroom and bacon, spinach and cheese etc etc.

A quick after work tea tonight but it's cheesy mash with meatballs in a tomato sauce.

A top winter meal in my opinion.

Made chilli last night. Nigella's Express recipe with added onions and as we decided to have it with pasta rather than rice I eliminated the kidney beans - so it was like a spicy bolognese. Hit the spot!

Vegetable chilli, cooked on the hob. There's a huge quantity of it so several portions will go in the freezer. Feeling smug! It was a lot of chopping but it will be worth it.

Toad in the hole, roasted carrots and butternut squash and mashed potatoes!

Veggie sausage stew. Cheap and tasty.

Ham and yellow split pea broth with chunky potatos, carrots and celery.

I have had chilli con carne in the slow cooker since about 1pm. It smells good and I'm looking forward to it. I will have it with brown rice and a smashed avocado, lime and a bit of coriander. An easy and nutritious meal.

Cottage pie with peas and carrots followed by blackberry and apple crumble (with custard for those who like it). Some lovely ideas here for tomorrow evening!
