Apologies if there is already a thread but I couldn’t find one. What on earth has gone on between Amanda Abbington and Giovanni Pernice during Strictly?AA is apparently taking legal action against the BBC claiming she has PTSD.

Imagine thinking you've got PTSD after a few weeks of dance lessons. What a muppet.

namechange1230 · 09/01/2024 00:13

I never tend to have strong opinions on celebrities but have to say I've not been a fan of AA since she declared herself bankrupt to avoid paying a 120k tax bill - while she was in a 10 year plus relationship with Martin Freeman, living in a 900k house (not a fan of MF either!). Surprised that people are describing her as level headed and honest.

I have no idea about this because I’ve never watched strictly so I wasn’t familiar with Giovanni, but I just watched something on bbc with Anton and Giovanni (the Sicily show) and without knowing who he was there was something about Giovanni that just made me go cold. Can’t explain it.

🙄

Someone said upthread that she was bullied at school, she went through a public and stressful marriage breakup and found love with a man who became disabled. I don't think it's much of a stretch to think she may have thought Strictly would be a great way to give her a boost personally (as has happened to many - Louise for example) and found herself bullied and thus broken by her experience.

@IDontWantToBeInAnyGangThatYoureIn This is my gut feeling as well- that she was already vulnerable and mentally unprepared for the intensity and stress of training for Strictly. She perhaps assumed that she’d be coached, not intensely trained daily for hours by a perfectionist. It may have broken her if she was already vulnerable. That’s not necessarily anyone’s fault though.

Iloveshoes123 · 09/01/2024 00:35

I don't know what happened re Strictly but I have no respect for AA after she was declared bankrupt whilst seeming to have no shortage of work because she couldn't pay her taxes (the rest of us don't have that option). I think even less of MF who was her partner for 10+ years, had 2 kids with her and didn't think maybe he could help out with the £100k show owed!

Also, Laura Whitmore is the biggest victim I've come across, she acts like she is an A list actor constantly being harassed. The carry on from her when a junior journalist sent her a very nice message asking to confirm her baby's name was a disgrace.

theconfidenceofwho · 09/01/2024 00:44

I tend to agree @Iloveshoes123

It feels a bit stupid having to go to this level but, obviously, she believes something else happened. I’m guessing you must have misunderstood my post because it’s so obvious?

We don't know what she thinks.

No misunderstanding, it was just a dumb thing to say.

If it weren’t a serious subject, this would be hilarious. I 100% agree that our comprehension levels are incompatible. I’ll bow out here as I do know when I’m beaten. Or when I’m beating a dead horse, so to say. Best of luck.

Indeed.

I'm not surprised people are sceptical.

Yes. I think that would be for the best.

who is the silly cow who screamed? @GrimDamnFanjo

chagrilly · 09/01/2024 07:05

It's giving me vibes of that woman cbb who accused that bloke from corrie of beating her up when he just playfully air-punched her arm.

Sorry I couldn't be bothered to google any names 😂

chagrilly · 09/01/2024 07:06

Is that video meant to prove something?

Maireas · 09/01/2024 07:08

Can someone explain the video?

Charlize43 · 09/01/2024 07:19

BBC has put out a statement:

'The BBC offers a comprehensive range of support to all individuals taking part in our shows. Strictly Come Dancing has always taken duty of care incredibly seriously and there is a constant dialogue between senior members of the production team and the contestants to ensure any concerns are addressed swiftly.'

I don't know if AA is one of those 'influencers' but one of the reasons why they create fake dramas is to keep their names in the media which drives people to their social media pages. If they gain more followers, then this results in better paid deals. Z list reality TV stars & Katie Price do this all the time.

Her exit statement was super dramatic without actually saying anything. She hasn't accused GP of anything. Clearly someone from her team or the BBC has leaked the story to the media, who could be spinning a 'feud' with GP or implying that something bad happened.

LlynTegid · 09/01/2024 07:23

If two people fall out, sometimes you don't know who is at fault. If several different people fall out with one person, I tend to presume unless proved otherwise that the issue lies with the one person.

AA is not an influencer but someone with a fairly successful acting career.

Mirrormeback · 09/01/2024 07:26

It was her personal experience which none of us went through so if she feels traumatised by it for whatever reason then so be it.

Being emotionally bullied is traumatic

AboutYouTalk · 09/01/2024 07:41

Who knows what happened, we have yet to find out as speculation at this point until we have facts. One thing I do find odd about Gio is his constant need for relationships with ‘celebs’. Maura Higgins, Ashley Roberts, Georgia May Foote and Jess Wright to name a few, all short-lived flings. Jess Wright felt blind-sided by him. Then last year once Jowita won SCD he decided he would like a go with her as well, she looked besotted. It lasted 3 months. I noticed him trying to stare her out in the gallery after she had danced with her partner Jody, she ignored him but he was fixated on her and not in a good way.

Imagine thinking you know everything that happened during those weeks. What a muppet.

Seriously, people are assuming so much. She’s diagnosed with PTSD. She’s asked for tapes from that time. It’s all we know. There could have been an incident that didn’t involve Gio or the dance lessons. It’s awful to call someone a muppet when you have no idea what they might be talking about.

EvilRingahBitch · 09/01/2024 08:12

I'm not sure we even know for sure she's got/claiming PTSD do we? Where does that come from?

Exactly!! I posted the exact same thing. Roxanne Pallett.

kirinm · 09/01/2024 08:37

There's nothing like watching women attack another woman when they've decided they don't like her.

I worry so much about meanness in children and wonder where it comes from. Think I've worked it out now.

AA isn't an "influencer". She's an actor with decades of experience.

This thread is so nasty it's embarrassing.

Over40Overdating · 09/01/2024 08:48

@FancyJapflack my experience is the bolshy, strong, no nonsense, fuck it social media persona is just that. A persona. At least in a professional context. I have zero insight into her private life or behaviours.

A PP referenced an interview that talked about self loathing and suicidal ideation in scenarios where things have perhaps not gone as planned which makes sense in context of what I witnessed.
