Apologies if there is already a thread but I couldn’t find one. What on earth has gone on between Amanda Abbington and Giovanni Pernice during Strictly?AA is apparently taking legal action against the BBC claiming she has PTSD.

What is taking so long? This investigation has taken months...

I suspect they were hoping it all went away.

Surely they would have announced his innocence as quickly as possible to protect a flagship show? The dancer who kicked Zara McDermott was dealt with swiftly (as he should have been).

jazzyBBBB · 29/07/2024 14:19

Verdict due today I believe?

pantsalot · 29/07/2024 18:01

Has it happened? Bit of a messy day for the BBC with the Huw Edward's news

I read this morning it was going to be today but then nothing 🤷‍♀️

WriterOfWrongs · 29/07/2024 18:36

Maybe they've postponed it because of Huw Edwards, they might want to spread out the 'unveiling' of former male staff members as potential abusers... Hmm

And we, the licence payers, are funding all of this.

Finally an update - news.sky.com/story/amp/amanda-abbington-hails-vindication-over-bbcs-strictly-apology-as-giovanni-pernice-says-hes-relieved-at-findings-13225126

Giovanni seems fairly happy on his Instagram
So the 6 out of 16 things held against him must be pretty minor.

I hope ITV give him a show after all this!

Gowlett · 30/09/2024 22:43

Giovanni has a top lawyer & excellent PR people.
Come out, say your piece on the day. Draw a line.

Doesn’t matter who’s wrong or right, here really.
Amanda is finished. She might sue the BBC, but…

ponchohoncho · 30/09/2024 23:54

The BBC news website says Amanda's complaints of verbal bullying and harassment were upheld. But her complaints of physical aggression were not.

You don’t have to batter someone to make their lives a misery.

Been there for both.

Minds take longer to heal.

ponchohoncho · 01/10/2024 14:17

i totally agree ArcaneWireless.

Spongeeater · 01/10/2024 14:28

Me too. Disgraceful the way this is being framed in the media.

pickledandpuzzled · 01/10/2024 15:16

Verbal bullying and harassment of someone you are training is appalling. Certainly not something to crow about. Combined with the long hours and physical intimacy it must have been really unpleasant.

ArcaneWireless · 01/10/2024 18:26

And in my case, just because there was no evidence of physical aggression from my colleague does not mean there wasn’t any physical aggression.

You hope someone found guilty of verbal bullying and harassment is rewarded with his own show?
Wow.

Have you actually read what he said to her and what was upheld as "bullying""?! 🙄 She is utterly ridiculous and should be embarrassed about the whole thing.

Ahh I don't know where the GIF came from

It was upheld. I think I’m happy to accept it was inappropriate on that basis. Have you ever been bullied? Lots of it sounds very innocuous out of context.

I think the six complaints (I suggest people read them) that were upheld make her look absolutely ridiculous. No wonder he is happy

kirinm · 01/10/2024 19:31

@XelaM is there anywhere reporting the exact details that isn't the daily mail?

I repeat: Have you ever been bullied? Lots of it sounds very innocuous out of context.
Edit: he’s not happy. He’s tanked his career. If it was really ridiculous he’d be angry. He knows he’s got away with some stuff surely?

If saying "fuck" in the workplace is considered bullying everyone I've ever worked with is doomed

Saying it? Or directing it at someone?

I mean any of my old bosses said much worse than the complaints that were upheld, so by that definition I guess I was also bullied

ArcaneWireless · 01/10/2024 20:47

I work in a very male dominated field.

Swearing is commonplace and accepted amongst those of us who work in a stressful environment and have worked with eachother for years.

Swearing at someone is not. Nor is using bad language in front of those you don’t know well - or at all.

People laughed at the constant innocuous things (which spiralled into ridiculous criminal accusations by the end) from my bully and it was thought of as pathetic at first. People were surprised I was speaking up. I’m no weepy waily wallflower either.

When someone is a deep down nasty bastard they can hoodwink others for quite some time while quietly destroying someone’s reputation or breaking them. It isn’t a commendable trait.
