Just watching the 58th Academy of Country Music Awards on Prime presented by my first two country loves Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks.
I love country music and Lainey Wilson is my latest love. I don't see many music threads in general (except Taylor Swift ticket threads-love TS) and thought I'd start one where we can share our love of l things country music. I'm going to start wearing my cowboy boots again and go to the local country festival in the summer. I'm autistic and music is my main stim where I play the same song over and over for hours if not days. They then go on my songs of the week playlist.
I'd be hard pressed to choose my ultimate favourite but current favourites are:
Lainey Wilson
Jason Aldean
Blake Shelton
Luke Combs
Cole Swindell
Carly Pearce
Jordan Davis
Kelsea Ballerini
Luke Bryan
Carrie Underwood

Wildflowers and Wild Horses by Lainey Wilson is my current musical stim. I wake up singing it in my head.

I love the way country songs tell a story. Not all, but most of what I listen too is a story. Some are just good fun but I love the story telling. Blown Away by Carrie Underwood for example. The Thunder Rolls by Garth Brooks. Proper goosebumps songs.

Come share your country music love with me 🥰

The Black Deer festival have just announced their line up. Some good acts on there including The Shires, Ward Thomas, The Staves etc.

If you like folk music as well, the Cambridge folk festival have just released their line-up as well. It’s a good line up this year.

Who’s getting excited for C2C next week, then? Sunday only for me, as it clashes with something else I do every year - but that worked out perfectly as Old Dominion who I most wanted to see. Saw them in Nashville, they’ll be fabulous.

Me! I’m going all three days. Old Dominion are great. Saw them before when the performed at C2C a few years ago and when they supported Thomas Rhett.

looking forward to seeing Drake Milligan.

My husband will be wanting to go and see this, but I'm off on holiday (without him LOL) the next day so fear it won't work for me. Bah.

I’m showing my age here but I remember in 1981 there being a little, short-lived interest in country music.

My favourites were ‘Labelled with Love’ by Squeeze and

’Good Year for the Roses’ by the fantastic Elvis Costello. This was originally George Jones’ song, and one of the few songs which I can’t decide if I prefer the original or the cover.

Talking of George Jones I always love to he ‘He Stopped Loving Her Today’
❤️

For those at C2C - loved Carly Pearce. Was open minded about Kane but ended up really enjoying him. Surprised at the hate from many country fans. Then I remembered. He's black.

I love Kane, sorry for him it was so bad!

I’ve seen Kane live in Nashville. When he was good, he was very good indeed, but he opened his set with what was basically rap and more or less emptied the stadium.😆 They raised the (non-existent) roof for Darius Rucker at the same festival, and for Breland who seems to be the toast of country at the moment?

Personally, I think KB is maybe trying to work out where he wants to fit musically, and maybe alienating some in the process?

ZoeyBartlett · 09/03/2024 23:04

Funnily enough I was at CMA Fest last year and all the hate was for Hardy afterwards saying he was not country. Same as Kane last night.

I think country is a broad church and it's not just Dolly and Johnny anymore (both of who I have seen and love). People just need to give stuff a listen!

Midnightstar76 · 02/03/2025 00:44

Joining I have just been listening to George Stait. Absolutely the best! Also like a lot of other country Christian Stapleton just amazing.

Midnightstar76 · 02/03/2025 00:44

Sorry Chris not Christian!
