Country music appreciation thread

Just watching the 58th Academy of Country Music Awards on Prime presented by my first two country loves Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks.
I love country music and Lainey Wilson is my latest love. I don't see many music threads in general (except Taylor Swift ticket threads-love TS) and thought I'd start one where we can share our love of l things country music. I'm going to start wearing my cowboy boots again and go to the local country festival in the summer. I'm autistic and music is my main stim where I play the same song over and over for hours if not days. They then go on my songs of the week playlist.
I'd be hard pressed to choose my ultimate favourite but current favourites are:
Lainey Wilson
Jason Aldean
Blake Shelton
Luke Combs
Cole Swindell
Carly Pearce
Jordan Davis
Kelsea Ballerini
Luke Bryan
Carrie Underwood

Wildflowers and Wild Horses by Lainey Wilson is my current musical stim. I wake up singing it in my head.

I love the way country songs tell a story. Not all, but most of what I listen too is a story. Some are just good fun but I love the story telling. Blown Away by Carrie Underwood for example. The Thunder Rolls by Garth Brooks. Proper goosebumps songs.

Come share your country music love with me 🥰

oooh hello !!

loving contemporary country music at the minute. I love the down-to-earth type songs - I think I got sick of pop music and rich people singing about being rich & partying .... i find country so much more relatable!

Verv · 08/01/2024 16:22

Elle King is great also, but more like verging on country.
Drunk and dont wanna go home is one of my favourite tracks ever I think.
Must've played it hundreds of times when driving :)

Have seen loads of these live, including all your favourites OP. Have tickets to see Ashley McBryde and Darius Rucker this year (both great live), plus tickets to C2C.

Lifelong Don Williams fan here. I’m also obsessed with Zach Bryan. I’m listening to him all the time. Thanks Yellowstone!

I'm here - there does seem to have been a distinct lack of country music events in the UK this past 10 years.

Does anyone know of, and what to go to, a country music event in or near Gloucestershire/worcestershire/warwickshire?

The Long Road is at Stanford Hall in Warwickshire on August Bank Holiday weekend.
We've been the last 2 years and it is a great little festival. Very chilled out with great music

Love country music! My latest favourite is Zach Bryan. I’m 40 this year and my other half is treating me to a holiday to Nashville and tickets to see Zach while we are there. It’s a dream trip for me as I grew up listening to my Mum’s favourite country music!

Are you going for CMA Fest?

Polgara2 · 08/01/2024 18:56

Yay more country music fans! I am all alone in my love for it here.
I first got into in the 90s when I could get CMT channel on the tv and just had it on repeat in the background. So I do like the old songs from that era as well as new.
My absolute fave is Reba. Also like Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.

PToosher · 08/01/2024 19:38

I grew up with country music, so I tend to like old school country styles. Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, Waylon, Buck Owens.
I don't like much modern country pop / rock but there are a lot of good Americana artists and those influenced by them. First Aid Kit come to mind.

I haven't been on trustpilot for ages.
Last time I looked through I found a load of shops I buy from have very low scores which is.. worrying.. 🤣

Amazon is very low...

Crack on then - but a Stetson Silver Belly Open Road is about £350-£400. Selling it at £83 should make you pause and reconsider. Not my money so 🤷‍♀️

Ineedanewsofa · 08/01/2024 19:58

Love this thread 😊 loads of my faves already mentioned but I haven’t seen Sam Hunt, Ingrid Andress or Bailey Zimmerman mentioned yet so I’ll throw them into the mix.

I have a Resistol rodeo rider straw hat that I bought in Wickenburg Arizona 20 some years ago.

Itsnotme33 · 08/01/2024 20:02

Watch Colter Wall sessions on YouTube, his voice gives me shivers. Also a big fan of Pistol Annie's and Miranda Lambert on her own.

Love Gretchen Peters

We go to the Cambridge Folk Festival end of July/early August - you see some great acts there

TheMotherSide · 09/01/2024 00:38

Great thread. I'm going to check a couple of new things out, for sure.
Tonight on repeat, 'Straight Tequila Night' by John Anderson. Also can't get enough of Gillian Welch and Dave Rawlings and am re-listening to all the old albums.
Found a great young country voice by accident on YouTube recently; Kevin Smiley, very sweet.

JustACountryMusicGirlInCowboyBoots · 10/01/2024 09:45

I've found a hat in a charity shop! It's too big so I need to attach something inside to make it fit.
