Country music appreciation thread

Just watching the 58th Academy of Country Music Awards on Prime presented by my first two country loves Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks.
I love country music and Lainey Wilson is my latest love. I don't see many music threads in general (except Taylor Swift ticket threads-love TS) and thought I'd start one where we can share our love of l things country music. I'm going to start wearing my cowboy boots again and go to the local country festival in the summer. I'm autistic and music is my main stim where I play the same song over and over for hours if not days. They then go on my songs of the week playlist.
I'd be hard pressed to choose my ultimate favourite but current favourites are:
Lainey Wilson
Jason Aldean
Blake Shelton
Luke Combs
Cole Swindell
Carly Pearce
Jordan Davis
Kelsea Ballerini
Luke Bryan
Carrie Underwood

Wildflowers and Wild Horses by Lainey Wilson is my current musical stim. I wake up singing it in my head.

I love the way country songs tell a story. Not all, but most of what I listen too is a story. Some are just good fun but I love the story telling. Blown Away by Carrie Underwood for example. The Thunder Rolls by Garth Brooks. Proper goosebumps songs.

Come share your country music love with me 🥰

The country music states tend to be red states and hunting seems to be a big part of the culture. The USA is very different to the UK in general. What do they say? Two countries divided by a common language or something like that. I've unfollowed a few on Facebook after hunting pictures were posted. Different lifestyle to here, different politics. I didn't realise how many states have legalised cannabis, something I'm totally against. Politics should be kept out of music I think. I just want one thing in my life that's enjoyable without politics coming into it.

@Pyri He’s absolutely vile. The controversy around his last video was very telling. Him and his wife being so pro- trump was revolting. I’ve got rid of his cds and unliked all his music on Spotify.

Loving Bailey Zimmerman now I've listened after hearing about him on here. It's great for me to listen to new music because I listen to the sane ones over and over and it's good to have a change every few songs.

I listen to a LOT of country but mostly more of folkier/americana type artists

Brandi Carlisle
Zach Bryan
Chris Stapleton

usually listen to Smooth Country in the car!

Riverlee · 12/01/2024 18:42

Through listening to Bob Harris on Radio 2, got more into country over the last few years, although have always enjoyed folk music. Quite enjoy Smooth Country now.

Not very good at naming artists, but ones I can name include Tim McGraw and Lady A. Saw Gretchen Peters at Cambridge folk festival a few years ago.

Have booked to see The Shires later this year, and also Black Deer festival, an Americana festival near Tunbridge Wells.

"Before He Cheats "by Carrie Underwood ,used to be my anthem when I may or may not have caused a little bit of accidental damage to the luxury car of my ex husbands floozie Grin (and caused £5k of damage he had to cough up for )....oops !

Now "Beautiful Crazy "by Luke Combs as my DP spins me round the kitchen to it and says it's his song about me !
Not too sure about the beautiful ,but his eyes aren't as good as they used to be so will take it as a win Smile

Serencwtch · 13/01/2024 18:47

Big Dolly Parton fan & now discovered a whole lot more country thanks to Spotify playlists. Never would have seen myself as a country fan

"We saw Garth Brooks in Dublin in 2022, have never heard a huge stadium sing every word so loud. Fantastic concert."

I think half the country went, everyone had a great time by all accounts.

Charlingspont · 14/01/2024 16:09

Well I've seen Steve Earle, Nanci Griffith and Shania in concert many years ago. Now kids are older, starting to get back into stuff and currently enjoying Tyler Childers.

Sorry it's just called More Like Her. I love Miranda and also really like her with Pistol Annie's for some really fun and mostly happy bouncy songs 😊

FourLeggedBuckers · 14/01/2024 17:16

I love a bit of Cody Johnson and ZBB. And as my username suggests, I rather like a bit of Chris Petersen too 😂

Abigailandthefoxes · 14/01/2024 17:24

Massive country fan been going to C2C for about 8 years it’s my fav weekend of the year. No one has mentioned Kip Moore who is one of my favs.

Riverlee · 14/01/2024 19:07

I love Country singer names. None of your Tom, Dick or Harries, (there probably are these names) but Cody, Kip, Kane, etc.

Sarvanga38 · 21/01/2024 09:39

Ashley McBryde on superb form last night, with two great support acts - particularly Corey Kent. Great night.
