He isodd.
At Princess Diana's funeral he was smiling and waving at the public as though he was on a red carpet.
Quite bizarre.

That's interesting. Why would he throw someone over his shoulder?!

I know someone who used to work for him very closely. Apparently he is very nice and looks after his employees like they are family.

Also watching to see if anyone has met Ricky Gervais.

I haven't but my Dsis has worked with him for long periods. Not a very nice guy, unfortunately. She doesn't often say negative stuff about people at work, but he was fairly problematic.

David Jason isn't a nice guy either, apparently. I've heard that from three people who have worked with him, from the producer to the security guy.

Also Jennifer Aniston...she can seem very friendly, but is capable of unwarranted rudeness to non-set people (hotel staff etc) once there are no cameras around. Fairly diva-ish.

For balance, the good guys: Bob Mortimer, George Michael, Minnie Driver, Julian Clary, Tilda Swinton off the top of my head.

Not unpleasant but keeping a cool distance from everyone else: Richard E Grant.

I met James Morrison (singer 'You Give Me Something') a few years ago and he was absolutely lovely. Really chilled out, down to earth, and was just awesome. The way he took time to speak to fan's and have photo's with them, was so nice.

I'd love to have an evening with him, singing our hearts out together 😂😍

I, like many others, was saddened to hear the news of the death of his wife yesterday. A terrible shock for her family and friends.

Emma330912 · 08/01/2024 03:57

My teenage son & his friend met Ricky Gervais when Gervais was leaving a theatre. Apparently, the friend ran up to Gervais and reached out to get his attention (which definitely could of been annoying or seen as intrusive/intimidating), security told him to move away but Gervais said it was fine & the took a photo, asked how they were & told them to have a good night. My son said he was really nice about it.

Oh gosh how awful! I had no idea.

jasminocereusbritannicus · 08/01/2024 07:20

I didn’t meet him, but I had to speak to him on the phone…Paul Daniels…horrible, horrible man! Practically brought me to tears over something that was totally beyond my control! Very much the “Do you know who I am” sort.

I met Elton John, when I was 14 at a Watford football cub family day. He was standing all alone while supporters were milling around Graham Taylor and the players, so I (and my cousin ) went and asked him for his autograph. He seemed quite relieved that we took the time! 😊

jasminocereusbritannicus · 08/01/2024 07:33

I’ve also met Richard Briers, as part of my Job in a hospital…. Lovely person! Also Brian Connelly ( ?spelling) from Sweet, not that long before he passed away, and he was absolutely smashing! He brought in some pictures for the staff ( at our request).

BigBrightStarz · 08/01/2024 08:33

@HeartandSeoul I had no idea 😔absolutely heartbreaking.

Rokerwriter · 08/01/2024 09:53

@beautifuldaytosavelives Gary Lineker ate at the restaurant my son used to manage and was always lovely, apparently. The first time he went back after Covid he Tweeted about how great it had been and how if we all support hospitality, hospitality will get back on its feet etc.

Actually, worked in a job with a lot of staff and where you’d routinely, usually briefly, deal with celebrities. A few from colleagues:
Nirvana, nice polite young men.
Noel Gallagher, polite, could have passed by unnoticed had he not been accompanied by Kate Moss!
Brandon Flowers, Very good natured when friend said he looked like he should be on TV. He said he was ‘a musician’ and she then asked if he was any good 😂
Ricky Wilson, bit drunk but apologised for being confused and was grateful for directions/offers of assistance.
Tom Hanks, loudly and cheerfully greeted someone by name who had helped him a few weeks prior: ‘hey, it’s Terry, nice to see you again’.
Jarvis Cocker, politely introduced himself by name as though no one knew who he was. Despite most of the room gawping at him.
Princess Anne, on being paid a compliment:’oh I do believe you’re taking the piss’ and laughed heartily.
John Hurt, made a point of stopping to compliment colleague effusively for his fairly routine job.
Gazza, said he was nervous about being alone in a waiting area and offered to pay for treats for staff if they would keep him company.
Kevin Costner, queued patiently but caused quite the stir with as more and more people recognised him.

Awhh the Jarvis Cocker story is adorable!

EachandEveryone · 08/01/2024 10:47

I would be make a fool of myself if I ever met him. I met his friend last week Richard Hawley who is a niche celeb I guess. I love him and I’m going to see his west end musical next month. He was a laugh and was a very entertaining drunk 😀

Oh I can’t have it about Gary Lineker. Someone come on with something nice about him.

He lives locally and always stops my best friend to play with her dog and say nice things.

(Re: Depp. Anything Amber Heard did or did not do, doesn't change the fact that Depp is a serial abuser with a history of uncontrollable violence, numerous convictions and out of court settlements for violently attacking people, and rumours of domestic abuse, going back many decades, who talked about wanting to murder his wife and rape her corpse.)

OShoey · 08/01/2024 10:54

I went to the BAFTAS last year and sat next to Martin Freeman at the dinner. He was absolutely lovely; charming, funny and kind to me, the provisional sahm flapping about at an event I couldn'tquite believe I was at.

I think bigger stars often are. Some of the younger/smaller ones didn't engage with me at all. That might have been shyness or nerves, though in some cases it could have been the rudeness it came across as.

What would / could the production company do about it? Seems pointless to me

The two specific incidents I remember, DT was starring in a very low budget indie film about a man who started the anti-psychiatry movement, and the production tweeted an on-set photo (just DT and some of the other actors in costume, listening to the director, nothing controversial) and Georgia phoned the production office to have a good scream because the production company had posted it without consulting her. Not sure why she felt she should have been consulted. DT didn't care at all. They also had a contract clause added to his contract saying the production company had to provide first class plane tickets for the whole family and a hotel suite anywhere in the world they planned to do any kind of premiere screening, which destroyed the film as they had offers to screen it at various film festivals around the world and had to turn most of them down, as each screening in a new country would have counted as that country's premiere, and they couldn't afford to spend £20k on flights and accommodation to give the Tennant family a free holiday just for one screening at a small film festival. That's not a normal demand for a low-budget indie.

The other incident was when DT was promoting the film on Radio 1 (pre-record, not live), and I don't remember what happened exactly, only that Georgia came to the studio and spent the interview searching Twitter for DT's name and saw that someone from R1 had tweeted about DT being in the studio and hit the roof and demanded he be fired.

Just a right little madam, but maybe she's matured.

I sat opposite Nick Knowles on the tube once, probably around 8-10 years ago and he looked quite aggressive and in a really bad mood. Always remember that when I see him on tv acting in a completely different way.

🍷🍷🍷🍺🍺🍺🍺 problem

AppleCrispMacchiato · 08/01/2024 11:18

The only celeb that was really horrible was Michael Winner. Absolute arsehole to everyone around him.

I threw a cup of Ribena over him when I was about 5. He was on our patio right below my bedroom window very late at night, chatting to my dad and smoking, and my mum didn't allow smoking because of my asthma, so I got very indignant that he was being allowed to break the rules.

I reckon his partner, Jane Fallon, is on here.

Perhaps she does research for his observations 😂

justasking111 · 08/01/2024 12:25

We've a very exclusive hotel in acres of parkland. Friends children have worked there. The bookings are in another name but when the helicopter lands out come a Hollywood/British star and a guest, not their partner/spouse.

Locally word does get out but the paps have never caught on.

Some have booked AIRBNB at isolated beauty spots for assignations . Again locals spot them but keep schtum.

If you're famous and want privacy this area will keep your secrets 😂

EachandEveryone · 08/01/2024 12:45

I danced with Richard Branson once. He was a very odd person. He picked my friend up and threw her over his shoulder. She was not pleased at all!

She was lucky. When he was high chased his PA my friend around the office with a pair of scissors because he thought she was a daffodil. Sensibly she never went back after calling her OH to rescue her

Not in England

Femalefootyfan · 08/01/2024 13:24

I met Marti Pellow back in the very late 80’s in a restaurant overseas. I spotted him and brazenly went over to his table, sat myself down and had a chat about football as he was in the country to support his football team. Really nice guy who was perfectly fine about me plonking myself down at his table (he was eating alone).

GellerYeller · 08/01/2024 13:38

There’s a video online of Noel Gallagher in a restaurant, trying to look good natured, when they start playing his songs over the PA. He’s with his family who look more amused/polite than he does.
He looks quietly mortified actually.

I met him when I auditioned for him - a horrible, self-important, rude man (I didn't get the job!). He wasn't interested in what work I had done, only if my parents were influential and what connections they had - so a crashing social climber as well!

A friend of mine supplied electronic equipment for a film that Winner was directing. He said that Winner would smoke these enormous cigars and when he wanted to tap the ash off, he would simply stick his arm out and tap without looking, expecting that a minion would dive forward with an ashtray.
