’Short’ as in ‘abrupt’ or under 5’ 5”?
(I doubt I’ll be the only one to ask 🤣)

Which is funny considering she has come out saying she was horribly bullied at school. I always find it strange how people remember things. I had a girl like that at school, awful bully but then later complained to people how horrible school was and how she was badly bullied.

Most recently, Paul Hollywood standing at the station waiting for a train, he was very pleasant.

Nancy Sorell at the gym - friendly, absolutely stunning.

Vic Reeves with Nancy Sorrell out shopping.

Gemma Collins at a spa hotel - had no idea who she was at the time, loud, ignorant, thoughtless and out for all she can get.

Over the years;

Kelly Brook and Danny Capriano at a spa hotel, very loved up at the time, seemed pleasant.

Charlotte Church in a club - v self important and surrounded by hangers on.

Shirley Carter made a fuss of my dog in a pub in London, she was lovely.

Used to see Jenny Eclair, Helen Lederer, Joanna Paige, Lesley Sharp, and Tracy Mcdonald frequently as they all lived near me when I lived in London - they all seemed pleasant.

Stayed at the same hotel as Elaine Lorden during height of Eastenders fame in Austria, she was a bit self important.

I was at school with Phil Gallagher's sister - does that count 🤣🤣

When we lived in London we frequently came across famous people, I am useless at spotting anyone and usually got told after the event! I did came across Jude Law with his kids at London Zoo v early one morning, he was very handsome and came across well.

Many years ago on a school trip to the Tate Gallery (I think), poor Chris Packham was there with his girlfriend and had a school trip of 16 year old girls following him around 🤦‍♀️(these were the days of The Really Wild Show).

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 07/01/2024 22:53

I page-turned next to Una Stubbs once. Absolutely adorable lady. Nearly completely deaf and blind by that point but SO nice to everyone.

flashmcdoodle · 07/01/2024 22:56

Jennifer Saunders when I worked in an upmarket (overpriced) furniture shop on Fulham Road in the 90's. I grinned at her before I realised who she was and just thought she was someone I knew and recognised. She was immediately offended & snooty with me. I was tempted to ask her to switch on the Christmas fairy lights in the window I was dressing, just to irk her further 😭

flashmcdoodle · 07/01/2024 22:59

Also Gazza but he was exactly you would imagine. I was called to the personal shopping area as the token northerner in the hope I could understand him. I could and he asked for "a canny smelling candle or summat" for his nan 🥰

I once spent a very happy evening getting slowly wasted with Thelma Barlow (Mavis Riley from Coronation Street, for those old enough to remember). I was dating the lighting director of a play and she was in the audience as she was friends with the star. A few of us went for drinks after a performance. She was lovely and can hold more whisky than you would give her credit for!

I'm glad people have good experiences of Elton. He had a bit of a diva reputation for a while (probably the drug years) and I've always loved him. He did an incredibly generous thing for a friend of mine.
We saw him at the O2 last year and the fact that he's still got the same band he started with speaks volumes, I think.
I'd love to meet Victoria Beckham. I think she's a scream. I saw a documentary of her and Elton going round a record shop and she was telling him how football fans would since 'Posh Spice takes it up the arse' and he said 'Well, that's something we've got in common!!'

My sister won a competition for a Spice Girls meet and greet years ago. She said Victoria and Emma were the nicest and so lovely to her

I wasn't trying to be nasty. He was obviously shy. Roger was friendly it's just that Parfitt was charm personified and just overwhelmed us a bit.

Sorry, I wasn't trying to suggest that you were at all; just adding a bit of background.

Is this in Hampstead Heath or somewhere else?

Hasnt he famously got a cat? He must borrow the dog.

Rather jealous of those who've met Ian McKellern. I've had a crush on him for decades.

deedeemegadoodoo · 07/01/2024 23:31

Richard Ashcroft. Very charismatic and funny, silly sense of humour.

I met Jimmy Saville in the 1990s in a hospital corridor.

He was wearing a metallic union jack string vest. He was very small.

It was a disturbing encounter and this was before any of the information came out about him.

My friend worked for a firm of solicitors who were sponsors of a charity run/race. Jimmy Savile was the celebrity runner. As one of the “office girls” she had to stand with a tray of juice and water at the end of the race, Savile took a glass with one hand and put his other on her boob. She told him to fuck off , she said he didn’t bat an eyelid, just walked away, didn’t seem to care if anyone had seen. This would have been early 80s I think, maybe even earlier.

I met my idol Richard E Grant. He was beautiful. Unfortunately I tried to kiss him on the cheek and he pulled away from me (understandably) so some might say I attempted to sexually assault Richard E Grant! I was mortified. He smelt amazing though.
I met the author Jaqueline Wilson and she was so lovely. Had fabulous jewellery.
Also met Gloria Hunniford. She was a cunt

This makes me happy as I love Richard e grant!

JoBrandsCleaner · 07/01/2024 23:44

Gregor Fisher - He came down my till when I was part time on the till one evening; I didn’t even know who he was. When he’d gone another lady who worked there came over to me all ‘wowee do you know who that was’?! (Oh that’s why he asked me a couple of daft questions and then glared at me, obviously pissed off that I didn’t know who he was 😬)

HowDidThisHappenDinesh · 08/01/2024 00:04

Was at a party once with the guy from Bastille (Dan I think). He was very tall and very shy.
Eleanor Tomlinson was really nice.
Vivienne westwood once came into my work but I didn’t have the pleasure of serving her ! She was unassuming iirc but even if you didn’t recognise her you’d know she was famous. Incredible hair and outfit of course and just oozed the star factor.
Also once had a pint next to Gavin from Gavin and Stacey but didn’t say hello as you could just tell he knew he was being recognised and wanted nothing more than to be ignored lol.

I met the Queen and Prince Philip at a Reception at Buckingham Palace. I shook the Queen's hand after being introduced and curtsying. There was no conversation. What stood out to me that evening was meeting Prince Edward. He spoke to me for about 20 minutes. I’ve never met a kinder more polite person. I’m sure my conversation was dull but he was attentive, interested and so lovely. So immaculately dressed too.

I was at a party years ago (Uni do) and was dancing - turned round and Edward was dancing next to me. He was very low key all evening, wanted to blend in. Didn't tell him I'm a republican Grin

MushroomQueen · 08/01/2024 00:25

I met Rik Mayall after a show in Cambridge, I was a teenager with my friend and we were massive bottom fans, he signed our pics and took pics with us and called us great 'birds' in character of course nothing pervy just his character is, he was great!

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 08/01/2024 00:43

Princess Margaret had had a very good lunch and was a little tired I remember.

Was she just tired, or, as per her reputation, 'tired and emotional'?!

Snead808 · 08/01/2024 00:57

I have met Ricky Gervais!! I met him at the premier of the David Brent film so I guess he was 'working' and in a mood to meet people, but he was absolutely lovely, went into the cinema for the start of the film but then came back out to the red carpet and made sure to speak to everyone who was there waiting, took pictures, signed photos etc.

Firefly2009 · 08/01/2024 01:29

@Snead808 I am SO jealous!

How on earth did you get into the premiere?

I don't know if this is true of her or not, but I've noticed some people who are bullies are very quick to believe themselves bullied when others stand up to them or distance themselves.

Of course, some people become bullies because it stops them being the target so both perspectives can be true. Children and teenagers aren't great at knowing how to handle things.
