@StarDolphins he pleaded guilty to 2 counts of sexual assault, I'd have shoved him out after he'd done that to my cat 😂😂

Lolaandbehold · 07/01/2024 19:22

I met Ashley Roberts when she was filming Portrait Artist of the Year. Think it was 2019. Didn’t love her.

linsey2581 · 07/01/2024 19:25

I bought meet and greet tickets for Jack Whitehall for my son. He was lovely but very shy and reserved, you could tell he was nervous around meeting people, but he chatted to everyone.
My daughter met Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley at comic con. She said Ian was lovely and chatted away but Paul was an arse and seemed like he didn’t want to be there.

Met a fair few through work (mainly TV actors), but best which was last summer was Robert Plant who was in a pub in Pembrokeshire, just having a pint with the locals!

I live near RP, and this is the way he is,

ohdamnitjanet · 07/01/2024 19:29

Sold Benedict Cumberbatch veg at a market.
Had a v brief chat with Judi Dench about sofas in Ikea.
Many years ago sat in between Dickie Davis and Googie Withers in make up in a TV studio. Dickie had a roller in his hair setting his quiff.

Wishfulthinking1977 · 07/01/2024 19:31

Brother used to work behind the scenes on a TV show, Lee Evans was vile would let a door swing in your face and treat everyone as beneath him, Jack Dee very quiet but friendly, Alan Carr one of the nicest people you could meet! Would rather have a coffee with the staff than the other celebrities. Different situation Ralph Little lovely and a total gent, Ricky Thomlinson friendly and unassuming, Nicolas Cage very down to earth and friendly happy to have a pint with the locals, Nick Berry arrogant!

I was in the same year as Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent from Ted Lasso) at school. He was a bit of a wally. Not unpleasant one on one but easily led, and just played the fool a lot. Didn't come across as particularly into drama! - and wasn't exactly a teenage heart-throb, though I think the beard helped with that in later life...

Met quite a lot of celebs through various work-related things. I once had lunch with Michael Palin who was lovely and polite, and chatted to me for quite a while about the symbolism of toilets. Also Ruth Jones who was warm and friendly as others have said. I once had to attend an event where I knew no one and it was excruciating - pretty much the only person who deigned to talk to me all night was Simon Bird (I think this was pre-Inbetweeners or right at the start) who was at least civil. I also interviewed Peter Stringfellow once and his fluffy white cat sat on my lap throughout! - then at the end he politely said that if I ever wanted to come down to the strip club and audition then I was very welcome! I, er, declined that offer...

Also worked at the BBC for a bit and saw many people in the corridors round and about... Jeremy Paxman was quite sleazy, always used to look you up and down very carefully. Bruce Forsyth always said hello to me because when I first saw him I automatically said hi because I felt like I knew him, and I think he assumed that we did know each other and he'd just forgotten - ha. I was in the lift once with David Walliams and he was very silent but had the flattest face I have ever seen - really weird, no angles to it and almost 2D.

More recently knew Nigel Harman through local stuff... he always seemed to want to fly under the radar but was always friendly to me and chatted quite a lot about work etc.

Kerensa70 · 07/01/2024 19:32

He’s lovely! When I knew him, not v well he was going out with a bus driver in S London. I know then he suffered badly with rheumatoid arthritis.

Livinginanotherworld · 07/01/2024 19:34

Cilla Black was on our flight once, we weren’t allowed to address her or look at her, we had to go through her assistant.

Middleagedspreadisreal · 07/01/2024 19:35

I met Antony Worrall Thompson around 25 years ago when I was working as a hotel receptionist. He was incredibly rude and dismissive!

I always loved Gordon Ramsay's description of him as a squashed Bee Gee.

Charlize43 · 07/01/2024 19:44

Nicole Kidman. She was quite haughty (and wore too much power - meow). Not particularly friendly and blanked me when I said good morning to her.

Stanley Tucci, although slightly reserved in demeanour, was very lovely and we talked about food and his Italian cooking show. His wife was very, very nice too. I was taken aback at how small he is.

Missingpop · 07/01/2024 19:45

Anthony worrell -Thompson complete knob.
Paul Daniel’s -arrogant arsehole.
Carol Decker - tiny & so sweet softly spoken
Matthew Pinson -Rower not sure I’ve got his name right - the guy is huge so tall, very polite & gracious.
Steve Redgrave - really nice guy
Ronnie Corbett - So lovely & extremely funny a lot shorter than I’d expected.
George Michael - incredibly talented & a complete gentleman polite; very funny & interested in what you have to say & incredibly good looking.
Billy Ocean - An absolutely beautiful natured man a true gentleman who chatted for far longer than I expected by far my favourite absolutely loved him x

Fred12345 · 07/01/2024 19:49

Completely failed to recognize Jude Law in Lock & Co. Hatters in St. James St. He was buying his mum a hat for Ascot and just seemed like a nice, ordinary bloke.

afrogirl9 · 07/01/2024 19:53

I met Jeremy Kyle when I did work experience in a bookshop and he came to do a signing. He asked a pregnant woman who was getting her book signed if she knew who the father was.

HappyBinosaur · 07/01/2024 20:08

Contrary to a previous comment, I’ve met Anna Friel and she was lovely. She’s a good friend of a good friend of mine and we all went out for dinner a few years ago. She was really friendly and funny.

DillDanding · 07/01/2024 20:11

A friend of ours worked with Anna Friel. He has nothing good to say about her. Quite the opposite.

HappyChick23 · 07/01/2024 20:15

I met Take That in 2006 - they were thoroughly lovely. I have met Mark Owen a few times and he is the nicest man.

StarDolphins · 07/01/2024 20:15

whattodoisthequestion · 07/01/2024 19:20

Haha🤣🤣 made me laugh!

Abouttimemum · 07/01/2024 20:17

Not many these days but back in my journalist days I used to meet them all the time,

Gordon Ramsay - exactly how you would imagine but very sweet. I like the fact he is basically the same as you see him on tv.
Lots of footballers and sports stars - all fairly samey, nothing sticks out. Kris Akabusi was hilarious and I loved Sharon Davies. Jonny Wilkinson was also nice, I door knocked him after the World Cup and he let me in for an interview. Still aghast at that.
Magnus Magnusson, very lovely and very intelligent.
Nigel Havers, he was so nice. We made him lean out the back of an ambulance about 20 times for the photos and he was very gracious.
James Woods, again very pleasant.
Clare Balding. She could not have been nicer. Really interesting conversation, very welcoming and chatty.
Loads others, can’t really think of them all.
Vicky Pattinson had me help her retrieve her mobile phone from the back of an Uber at 6am at my local train station and then sat with me on the train to London. Very random. I then saw her on this morning an hour later 😂

The only celeb that was really horrible was Michael Winner. Absolute arsehole to everyone around him.

MrsG31811 · 07/01/2024 20:17

I've met Patsy palmer.. she was so lovely.. Katie price and Peter Andre a few times.. not unusual for living in brighton.. 9ne of the times i was nearly run over by them 🤦‍♀️this was 20 years ago or so.
Ray Winstone and Amanda Redman when I was 16. I absolutely love Ray Winstone!! He was such a gentleman.
I also had Tabitha Wady as the registrar and a guest at my wedding. 😊 she is just lovely!

bitteroulbag · 07/01/2024 20:20

My very judgey but wonderful best friend (of 60 years this coming September) is an actress and had a tiny part in Afterlife. She said Ricky Gervais was a total gentleman. Kind, charming, welcoming, interested in everybody, even those with just a cough and a spit. Also funny and delightful. Believe you me, she’s met some stars and has rarely talked so positively of anyone.

Abouttimemum · 07/01/2024 20:22

Oh also met most of the current royals and nothing really to report. I’ve met (now King) Charles many times and he’s always been very pleasant, interesting and interested. But Anne was my favourite.

I also bumped into The Beast from the Chase at a Premier Inn in Rotherham - I felt sorry for him as he couldn’t eat his dinner in peace - constantly hassled!

ErinAoife · 07/01/2024 20:23

Plenty in my first job. I worked for a record company so i met plenty of musicians, singers, song writers.

HappyBinosaur · 07/01/2024 20:26

I’ve also met Ian Mckellen and Alison Hammond who were very friendly, and I went to school with Jess Phillips who was also a lovely person and seems very much herself when I see her on tv.
