I cannot bear to read or speak or hear some food related words. It is difficult for me to write them as I feel so ick about them but here goes:

Tasty
Delicious
Sweet treats (or just treats)
Snack
Yum
Nom
That slurpy face emoji (I refuse to put it here)

Uuuuuuurgh I feel ill now

What is wrong with me? Anyone else or am I a massive weirdo?

Easy peasy lemon squeezy makes me want to run around stabbing people. There is no reason that phrase needs to exist.

Ointment is a cringer.

I went on a professional training course once where the trainer said easy peasy lemon squeezey. I just switched off after that

'Poorly/very poorly' in news reports. To my mind poorly is a baby word. What's wrong with 'ill' or 'unwell'?

HelpMeGetThrough · 03/01/2024 13:52

Should of, could of, would of.

Will never understand how people get it wrong.

FestiveFruitloop · 03/01/2024 13:52

Also, 'spendy' or even worse 'spenny' instead of expensive.

ently · 03/01/2024 13:52

One I'm curious about is "wintry" in weather reports. Why not wintery?

fluffyduvetcover · 03/01/2024 13:53

Brew
Plate up
Meal
Anywho

ently · 03/01/2024 13:54

Piccies for photographs

donteatthedaisies0 · 03/01/2024 13:54

Boobing for breastfeeding , just why ?

fussychica · 03/01/2024 14:00

Hubby
We are pregnant. No only one of you is pregnant. We are having a baby. Is that what you meant to say?
Uptick, you mean increase or improvement.
Daddy and Mummy when used by an adult.
Grub when used about food. My dad used it all the time, I hated it.
Lots of the common ones on here like scrotum, moist, etc.

squinker45 · 03/01/2024 14:02

also, 'to snack on' or 'to nibble on' or actually, 'nibbles'

Hate it!!

I can’t stand the word smash when used in a political context, e.g. smash the patriarchy, smash capitalism, smash the system etc.

I’m all for getting rid of the patriarchy, bringing it down, it even just phasing it out. I just don’t want to smash it Hmm

Rainbows89 · 03/01/2024 14:07

‘Mouthful’
’burst into tears’
’gently’

I'm sure there is another one I was thinking of but I can’t recall it now!

bakedpotatoforlunch · 03/01/2024 14:10

I think it's already been mentioned but gifted.
I've heard it at least twice over Christmas "We were gifted this or that or the other".
No! "We were GIVEN this, that or the other."

Thank heavens for the ability to let off steam on MN!

hogmanayhoolie · 03/01/2024 14:10

Messy

As in "this could get messy". Usually means a couple of blue Wkds too many

LetsDanceTheNightAway · 03/01/2024 14:15

Most of the buzzwords used on MN, including
Grim.
Naice.
Ick.
Vile.
Vom

GonksAreNotJustForChristmas · 03/01/2024 14:17

Howling instead of laughing.

No, you weren't howling.

Icantbedoingwithit · 03/01/2024 14:22

Deceased. When talking about laughing. HATE it.

CharliesAngles · 03/01/2024 14:24

And I’m back! 😆

’Doing the deed’, even the abbreviation ‘DTD’

Urgh.

Icantbedoingwithit · 03/01/2024 14:24

Also Handhold on here drives me insane.
could I have a handhold….ughh.

bakedpotatoforlunch · 03/01/2024 14:26

Thought of another one.

"Hey", instead of Hi or hello.

Grrrr.

Kwam31 · 03/01/2024 14:29

Poorly; cannot stand it, used for a mild headache to terminally ill.
I'm Scottish and we don't commonly use it and I cringe hearing it reading it.

Winifredduck · 03/01/2024 14:30

'Bits' when referring to food or, even worse, 'picky bits'. I don't know why, but it irrationally makes me shudder when I read it on here. I've never heard anyone in real life say it though.

Kwam31 · 03/01/2024 14:31

@Icantbedoingwithit
Usually when they go in to reveal they've been an utter horror

Boopeedoop · 03/01/2024 14:33

Lush
Nom

CharliesAngles · 03/01/2024 14:33

CharliesAngles · 03/01/2024 11:34

Also ‘boobies’ or ‘boob fed’.

And as an extension of those, I give you…

’Boob juice’

Dear god!
