Plus it actually sounds like Moonlight Shadow which was I believe the original brief.

But Everywhere wasn’t early 80s - it was 1987.

I think OP needs to look through all the top 40 hits from 1979-84 and see if any of those ring a bell.

I think given the updates, we can safely assume OP’s description of the release date of the song may not necessarily be accurate at this stage.
