If anyone gets it then they are a genius! Can’t remember any lyrics or who it’s by but it’s a female singer, very similar vibes to moonlight shadow by Mike oldfield. Maybe about a failed relationship but I can’t remember. So basically I’m asking what songs are like moonlight shadow 😂
the longest shot ever I know…

OP I’m impressed you know all the songs suggested and have had time to listen to the ones you don’t!

It’s more that as soon as I see the song title and artist, I’ll know! I do know the name of it somewhere in the deep recesses of my mind

Whiskey in the Jar

Thin Lizzy

Definitely goes to jail in song

Quarterofanonion1 · 02/01/2024 22:11

Is it Luka by Suzanne Vega? Sure this has something about noises at night and don't ask me what it was suggesting violence of some sort?? Quite a gentle song too in Mike Old field style?

2pence · 03/01/2024 00:27

Is it Wild Rose sung by Kylie written by Nick Cave?

BaronessBomburst · 03/01/2024 00:35

Fleetwood Mac - Everywhere
The video fits your description.

MsMaraschino · 03/01/2024 00:39

Kate Bush Army Dreamers
Fleetwood Mac Everywhere
Suzanne Vega The Queen and the Soldier

Filthyslattern · 03/01/2024 00:45

Northern lights by renaissance
I BET you it's this!

DrFoxtrot · 03/01/2024 00:49

But what if you have actually forgotten and it doesn't ring a bell? Could we still be here, guessing songs, 900 posts deep before you realise it was actually a song mentioned on the second page 😬😂

AllIsWellish · 03/01/2024 00:53

I'm just place marking as some of the songs are really good 🤣

Botanica · 03/01/2024 01:00

This thread is like my dream playlist!

Can I suggest Bob Dylan - Hurricane? Fits the storyline...

x

Also could it be a song by The October Project or Propaganda? I was listening to a lot of them both around the same time as Moonlit Shadow.

Well as we're now on the second go round of the same songs already mentioned because people didn't RTFT the OP won't have to scroll back too far!
😛

For the being in trouble and possibly going to jail thing...

Indiana Wants Me - R Dean Taylor

gillybombilly · 03/01/2024 01:21

Ode to Billie Joe - Bobbie Gentry.

Probably not, but you never know 😄

PuppyMonkey · 03/01/2024 07:29

I said Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac about a week ago. Grin

Plus it actually sounds like Moonlight Shadow which was I believe the original brief.

WiseUpJanetWeiss · 03/01/2024 08:56

But Everywhere wasn’t early 80s - it was 1987.

I think OP needs to look through all the top 40 hits from 1979-84 and see if any of those ring a bell.

PuppyMonkey · 03/01/2024 10:57

I think given the updates, we can safely assume OP’s description of the release date of the song may not necessarily be accurate at this stage.Grin

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 03/01/2024 19:27

Was it definitely a song, or might it have been a different form of creative output?

Was it The Haywain or The Mayor of Casterbridge? Grin

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 03/01/2024 19:29

Las Ketchup or The Cheeky Girls?

meatbaseddessert · 03/01/2024 20:07

So it was like Moonlight Shadow.
Then it may not have been a woman singing
Then it was probably not like moonlight shadow.

So its name a song... any song! Grin

Spanish Eddie by Laura Branigan? He comes to a bad end.
