So sick of the constant rain…

There is torrential rain outside right now where I am (London). It sounds like a hurricane. But in general it feels like it has been a really grey and rainy winter - worse than usual…. Am I just imagining it or has it been really wet and miserable?

It feels like it's been raining since August with a few nice days chucked in to give me false hope. My garden is horrendous, I had wooden borders and they've rotted and my borders generally look ravaged. I had someone come to do a grass treatment yesterday and he told me off for not mowing the grass fortnightly - but we've barely had 2 dry weeks for ages!

User135644 · 05/01/2024 08:03

Been mostly grey, wet and miserable since July. Should brighten up a bit in April.

LightSpeeds · 05/01/2024 08:19

It's grim. Went to a pub yesterday (just two miles away) and there was loads of flooding: some major roads closed, flooded houses and mobile homes. Even heard about the flooding in the local area mentioned on R4 just now!

Oh for some sunshine (did see some briefly on New Year's Day)! 😫

ssd · 05/01/2024 12:08

Its actually dry and sunny in Glasgow. Everyone in shock.Shock

ThePoshUns · 05/01/2024 12:09

The sun is out in south wales, it's quite painful on the eyeballs

Fae1234 · 12/03/2024 14:02

Just revisiting this now in March 2024. We had 4 dry days last week I could've cried with happiness. Now back to rain. Will the torment ever end?

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 12/03/2024 14:53

It was dry and sunny in Sheffield too. Felt like spring! Sat outside!

I do think we missed a lot of the rain. We had some lovely springlike days at end of Feb. About to start pissing down now of course.

the80sweregreat · 12/03/2024 14:58

South east and it's poured down all day today
Stopped now , but I doubt it'll last

Mollyplop999 · 12/03/2024 17:34

Fae1234 same here. Back to filthy ponies, filthy car and my hips are killing me from trying to stay upright in the mud.

Pixiesgirl · 12/03/2024 17:52

I was going to say it doesn't seem to rain that much here, just looked at the forecast and apparently it's rain for the next 6 days solid. It's pretty boring though weather wise, can't remember the last time we had a thunderstorm and no snow either.

Echobelly · 12/03/2024 18:01

It's the same-ness that gets to me... I'm in London and the next 10 days are forecast to also be grey and mostly rainy like about the last 10. Ugh!

BrandNewSofa · 12/03/2024 18:33

It’s fucking depressing. We have had one day of sunshine here in what feels like weeks on end. Me and the neighbour were chatting outside and we just both stood and enjoyed the sun on our faces for a minute.

Supersimkin2 · 12/03/2024 21:24

Pigsick of concrete skies and slippery pavements.

piscofrisco · 12/03/2024 21:31

Northern Home Counties. I think we had two days of some sun last week. Before snd since more incessant rain and grey. It's really starting to get me down in a way I can never remember feeling before.

user8800 · 12/03/2024 21:32

I'm considering building an ark

TeenLifeMum · 12/03/2024 21:34

I’ve told dh that when dc are out of school I plan for him and I to holiday in the canaries for a week at the end of January every year to top up my sun levels. I’m so over winter. Dreaming of lazy Saturday mornings drinking coffee in the garden.

GentleGentileschi · 12/03/2024 21:38

Miserable. Makes me miss my winterless village in my home country in the antipodes terribly. Cannot wait to move back at the end of the years, the summers here have been getting wetter and the winters grimmer in the ten years I’ve lived here

April now and cant do nothing with garden as rain is making it boggy. And its a cold wind on top. Yeah,, england sucks for good weather. .. Mostly rain and damp here. We get more cold then hot weather...

Letmehaveabloodyusernameplease · 03/04/2024 16:22

Raining and grey in the North, just so bloody sick to death of it now.

IwishIdidntlikesugar · 03/04/2024 16:23

Rain rain go away

AlisonDonut · 03/04/2024 16:32

We are in the south west of France and are now 2 weeks away from 6 months of rain every day. We've had about 10 days when I could do stuff outside since the end of Feb.

It is quite unbelievable.

Mollyplop999 · 03/04/2024 19:15

It's seemingly never ending

KittensandPerverts · 03/04/2024 20:04

I think that you all need to learn be a bit more zen about the weather. I wouldn't be surprised to get a bit of backlash to my comment but it's not going to change anything. Namaste.

Unfortunately not all areas benefit from hotter summers! Certainly the last summer here in the NW England was not very warm, we only had a few hot days compared to the SE.

I was going to say this. I’m in the NW and the last time we had a decent summer was lockdown 1 in 2020. It feels like it’s barely stopped raining since, except for the odd few days over the summer in between weeks of rain.

I went to London a couple of weeks ago on the train and the fields were like lakes, all the way down!

ssd · 03/04/2024 20:17

Dreich in Glasgow today but we did have a nice weekend
