Just about to look for a new diary. Anyone have anything to share they’ve already bought? Halo

I love to see the different colours that people like to get - there seems to be a lot of green on here; my favourite colour is purple so all of my notebooks tend to be a shade of purple or, at least, dark pink.

Wow the circle planner looks amazing

Dustnbones · 30/12/2023 13:15

A couple of years ago I treated myself to a William Hannah A5 notebook after a recommendation here. The inserts are amazing - so many different types of calendar and then plain, dotted and lined paper so my diary is exactly what I need it to be. Not cheap but I love it

Thank you v much everyone for your thoughts!

I’ve ended up getting the BoxClever diary again (linked)

the pattern was much prettier for 2023 but cest la vie.

looking for pens now! Especially anything with a juicy thick nib. No smirking in the back please!

Talking of pens, DH just gave me an Ellington fountain pen that he’d forgotten that he’d bought me for Christmas.

It’s so beautiful. I got the Nautilus in a medium nib. It writes wonderfully.

I like biros, papermate inkjoy pens are lovely to write with. (Are they biros or roller balls? I can't remember!)

SapphireSeptember · 02/01/2024 19:26

Incidentally I'm still waiting for my new diary!

MotherEarthisaTerf · 03/01/2024 10:08

My Diary has arrived but I'm waiting for my new pens before I get properly stuck in Blush

I already like this but invariably lose all my favourite colours so I've rebought a small set - they're brilliant. Very smooth to write with but most people I know hate borrowing them! (Added bonus) https://amzn.eu/d/7qy1xll

I'm still waiting for my diary but my new pens have just arrived and I love them! The Sarasa Vintage ones recommended up thread. Lovely

A very silly question, but as someone who adores gorgeous stationery, how do you cope with ever-changing meeting and appointment times? The appointment style diaries would be perfect but I'd hate to spend time laying out a week's worth of plans and work meetings only to have to scribble them out when they're inevitably rescheduled last minute.

Do I just need to get over my desire for a beautifully laid out diary for this year and come to terms with the fact half of all the pages will have some form of scribbling out on them?

I only use my paper planner for a glorified to do list. Meetings all have to be online for me as they change so frequently. But you could use stickers and move them?

BookShark · 03/01/2024 16:49

I'm another who only uses diaries as scheduled to do lists - I'd probably be better with a bullet journal but I can't get my head around them.

Work is constantly changing and I have multiple meetings every day, so easier to do that in Outlook, even if it's not as nice as writing things down.

My comments on the Busy B - it's okay from a layout perspective and gives me space to do what I need, but the paper is too thin - I use a fountain pen and it's bleeding through. I'll live with it rather than buying a new one, but will go back to my personal planner site next year unless anyone can recommend something with thicker pages.

MotherEarthisaTerf · 03/01/2024 19:59

Love the box clever - room for a to do list next to the days time slots. I write out my to do list and then move items across to the times to do them.

the next time I use my diary - next day or 2 weeks later, I’ll go over my previous to do list and write out anything undone including anything new etc.

I cannot use something everyday due to forgetfulness (adhd) and this system has worked really well. Doesn’t matter how infrequently I use the diary - as soon as I’m wanting to be organised again I’ll pick it up, brain dump all my to do list and briefly plot out my day.

i use the calendar on my phone for every single appointment. My diary is more of a to do.

I meant to say I like the page quality. I HATE cheap paper.

If anyone likes Smythson then check out TK Maxx as a branch I visited today had a lot of Panama notebooks and also had some small accessories like purses.
