Couldn't sleep so come downstairs.

The only thing I wanted for Christmas is a fleecy cushion with arms. DH spotted one in Tesco yesterday and bought it home for me

The dog has ralphed on it!

Not the best start to the morning!

Merry Christmas everyone! I was woken at 4.00 by the DC who were "whispering" to each other in bed.....a very non festive grumble sent them back to bed until 7.00!

My DH is working today so we've all opened presents, had bacon sandwiches and will now happily graze through selection boxes all day until he gets home. The present pile was smaller this year which I was feeling guilty about but the DC have been very happy playing with stickbots for ages.

Looking forward to Christmas Dinner tomorrow when everyone here. For now, carols and chocolates!

Up at 6 this morning to find our dog had peed all over the new rug in the hall - he’s toilet trained so I can only guess that he’s out of sorts with all the excitement yesterday 😣 He’s been bouncing about since DS woke and started to open presents, I’m expecting a disaster soon tbh. He’s not usually this excitable!

Whattheduck · 25/12/2023 08:37

Dh is still in bed he works away and flew back yesterday so having a lie in
Dd 18 is also in bed she has worked over the weekend and is full of cold and has a hacking cough
I’m up with the dog I’ve put the presents under the tree and had a tidy round now enjoying a coffee then going to take the dog for a walk
Off to my mil’s for lunch so have a nice relaxing morning
Happy Christmas to you and your families

@fatandhappy47 never believe social media - guarantee there'll be guilt, resentment, disappointment etc lying beneath their #soblessed content

JFDIYOLO · 25/12/2023 08:43

"Oh .. thanks ... I didn't think we were doing cards ... I didn't get you one .... Sorry ..." 😶

My DS5 is unwell, if his fever gets any higher we will be spending Christmas day in A&E, he's finally drinking some fluids but I'm still concerned. Hoping showing him the presents under the tree will cheer him up. We can always do presents tomorrow if he's not up for it today. DD2 is still asleep, me and DH have been up since 4 although not slept very well due

Poor little mite. I hope he's better soon.

LadyJingly · 25/12/2023 08:45

Just me awake here, as I have been most of the night after an emergency tooth extraction late last night. Feel like I have done 10 rounds in a boxing ring and won’t be gracing any Christmas photos with my swollen chops this year. No Christmas dinner either. 🙄

Dc won’t be up before 10 as they have a pact to wait until the earliest their chronically ill sibling is able to cope with getting up.

Dh is still deeply asleep and my little dog keeps sticking his head out from under his blanket, looking at me in disgust for disturbing him, then burying himself again! 😂

Despite all that I am just happy the tooth pain has gone and looking forward to spending a quiet day with dh and the dc.

Merry Christmas everyone! 🎄

CeratopsofthePharoahs · 25/12/2023 08:46

I was up at 7, thanks to my bladder. Everyone else still asleep!
DS2 woke up later and then very politely asked why there were presents at the end of his bed.
Him and his brother have had chocolate orange for breakfast.
Now they're both at work on the Lego kits we got them and it's so quiet!
They both helped me prep all the veg yesterday which made everything so much easier and quick. Today they can have as much chocolate as they want!

AmeliaEarhart · 25/12/2023 08:47

I got woken up by a child vomiting 😭 She waited until 7.45, which was very considerate of her! She was absolutely fine last night, but has now gone back to bed after opening her stocking. Her 13 year old brother thinks it’s great as it gets him out of going to church this morning. DH has gone out for a run, and I’m sitting on the sofa trying to mentally rearrange plans for the next week which involved travelling and visiting family (trains and accommodation already booked)…

shellyleppard · 25/12/2023 08:49

I'm sure they will appreciate what they do have. Have a very happy Christmas x

BlueBell50 · 25/12/2023 08:54

Just me up at present, DH will emerge much later. Have both had the lurgy all week and didn’t get to sleep until early hours. Waiting for adult DS to arrive, DIL is working until 7pm so we shall eat late and open presents even later. Lovely lazy day ahead other than a couple of visits to relatives, some sadly no longer with us 😢and another who now does not know what day it is.

No animals or small children in the family- I used to love the excitement and “has he been” mornings. DS still gets excited he’s 30 going on 6 so it will be wonderful when he turns up.

I hope there are no more incidents for everyone else, have a lovely day x

Twobigsapphires · 25/12/2023 09:15

Just me up here. Up at 8am to put the Turkey on. Made chocolate croissants and now taken one back to bed with a coffee. Bought the dogs up with me for a snuggle on the bed (they sleep downstairs). Dh is dozing next to me. I’m knackered as didn’t get to bed until 1am after hosting big family party last night. Teen dc still asleep. Adult son will be home for dinner later.

Theseventhmagpie · 25/12/2023 09:22

Amazing start to the day here too, the hoover has eaten my decorations 😡

Christmas Day. And so it begins
slavetothekittens · 25/12/2023 09:43

One cat knocked the tree right over and another had an early morning mad half hour in the lounge so knocked any other decorations flying. Just one reindeer missing, I'm sure he'll turn up somewhere unexpected!

Merry Christmas everyone! 🎄

Hope you feel better soon, LadyJingly. Sitting here drinking my second coffee of the day and enjoying the relative peace! The busyness starts a bit later on!

Merry Christmas to all - whether you are with family, friends or on your own I'm wishing everyone a happy day and hoping we'll have a much better year to come in 2024 - and perhaps a kinder world. Good luck and good health, everyone. ⛄🎄

DecafOatMilkCappucino · 25/12/2023 10:04

@Theseventhmagpie Oh no! Those robot hoovers always seem to cause chaos! 😂

Unbelievably, the dc didn't wake up until 8am. I actually had to go in and check on them. Ripped open their presents and now playing on their devices while I have a quiet coffee. Ddog got a duck stick for a christmas present which he ate then promptly threw up while the dc were in the middle of present opening.
Merry Christmas everyone!

OnlyOpenMouthToChangeFeet · 25/12/2023 10:30

Well I don't have a vomiting dog..... yet.
I'm bed bound, and was woken early by DDog being very restless, with very audible tummy noises. I checked my cameras, and turns out my son when visiting last night didn't close the lounge door. So DDog sniffed out her present and scoffed the lot, she's looking very sorry for herself!

Other than that, will be an odd day for me. Last of adult DC moved out recently, so apart from a visit from one of them this afternoon, and carer popping in, I shall be on my own.

How I wish they (and I) were young again. 😢

maldivemoment · 25/12/2023 10:53

@TheseLegsDefinitelyUsedToBeLonger thank you for your kind words. ❤️

ElectiveAffinities · 25/12/2023 10:56

Just me and DH to ourselves today. We've been sitting in bed doing a giant Christmas cryptic crossword while a loaf of sourdough bakes in the oven - thus heating it up for the big piece of lamb that’s about to go in for our Christmas Day dinner.

We'll open presents once we’re up. DH has already apologised in advance for the dearth of gifts for me. He’s bought the two things I told him I wanted; other than that he’s completely unable to think of anything off his own bat. I’ve got used to this after 30 years. I think….

Thoughts with everyone who's missing their Mums and Dads this Christmas 💐

Poinsettiasarevile · 25/12/2023 11:53

For the love of christ @fatandhappy47 or anyone else please put me out of my misery and send me a picture of your fleecy cushion with arms. I cany figue out if you mean arms like a jumper or arms like a sofa, i dont know why a cushion would have either. Help a girl out.

Outwiththenorm · 25/12/2023 11:56

DC had a bug and vomited all over stocking gifts this time last year 🤦‍♀️ This year has gone more smoothly - so far!

Iggi999 · 25/12/2023 12:01

@Poinsettiasarevile Since it's Christmas, I will Google it for you... 😂 presumably something like this

Christmas Day. And so it begins
GreatBigBeautifulTommorow · 25/12/2023 12:04

@OnlyOpenMouthToChangeFeet merry Christmas, hope you manage to enjoy some of today x

Poinsettiasarevile · 25/12/2023 13:04

Thankyou @Iggi999! I didn't even know what to google.

Now i can enjoy my Christmas dinner.

Merry Christmas 🎅
I'm up with the dog. Decided to give the kitchen a good clean & I smashed my glass coffee pot 😭. I'm currently trying out all my jugs to see if any of them fit the plunger thing so I can make a coffee. Everyone else is fast asleep.

If you're still desperate for coffee, you can make a rudimentary coffee bag (like a tea bag) out of filter coffee and a clean kids sock. Or a pop sock, or cheap tights.

I broke my cafetière last year and got very creative.
