The only thing I wanted for Christmas is a fleecy cushion with arms. DH spotted one in Tesco yesterday and bought it home for me

The dog has ralphed on it!

I'm currently hiding in the hotel bathroom waiting for DHs alarm to wake him up so we can get ready to go to the families 😶 I've been awake on an off since 1am.

Been awake since 5:30 thanks to DH's snoring. He has a cold so I'll let him off but I still want to cry! I decamped to a toddler mattress in DD9's room, but she's now fidgeting and I can hear DS5 fidgeting about in his bed next door. They get up at 7:30 but today they might as well get up at 7. Not a minute earlier though!

Morning, Merry Christmas! Just dh & I at the moment, dsd coming for lunch but then heading to her boyfriends this afternoon.

Dh snoring upstairs so just me and the cat, have lit my candle sitting with a cup of tea enjoying the peace.

I'm up with the dog. Decided to give the kitchen a good clean & I smashed my glass coffee pot 😭. I'm currently trying out all my jugs to see if any of them fit the plunger thing so I can make a coffee. Everyone else is fast asleep.

My bladder woke me at 5.45 as per usual. I’m enjoying some peace and a cuppa before everyone awakens. I always like this time alone on Christmas morning (it means I can have a little cry that my Mum isn’t with us anymore without feeling silly, it’s 10 years but Christmas is not quite the same without her). However, I am surrounded by other family and friends and DH is the kindest, funniest person I know. I have though spotted a small gift of Go-cat inspired cat vomit on the rug in the hall 🤣🤣.

I've been up for an hour or so with just the dogs for company. I've got the dreaded holiday lurgy so have been coughing like an old man all night.

DD is home and we've got a friend and her two little ones staying, so I had thought they'd be up by now, but it seems my friend has trained her children better than I did and they won't be up for ages!

The house smells like garlic because I decided to cook the Turkey slowly overnight. It's already looking good but has a few more hours to go yet. Im
not sure garlic was the scent I wanted to use wake up to though.

I love these threads.

I love the sense of calm from folk already up, having a quiet coffee, anticipating the day ahead. I love the sense of excitement waiting for little folk to wake up.

And for those of you concerned about the number of presents, know that you’ve done well. Our kids don’t remember the size of their pile or the amount of gifts. They don’t compare to others. I think it’s just us adults who do that.
Our kids will know that they are loved. That’s beyond measure.

Marry Christmas all. May it be filled with peace, love & joy. If this is a difficult day for you, know that you are loved too.

Just dh and I this year ...saw adult dcs last week. Had the best Xmas Eve afternoon in a great bar yesterday, followed by a curry, home by 7.
First cuppa in bed, going for a 6 mile walk then home for a cheeseboard. More of the same tomorrow.
No stress, no cooking...perfect after a manic December of seeing people and a trip abroad.

I’m messaging DS who is far away so hours ahead.
I miss him but he’s happy and safe, a couple of fiends have lost their DS’s this year so I’m feeling grateful.

DH is whistling Christmas songs which is a good sign.

Just woke up. Going to work this morning I work in supported living. Finish at 12 then round my son’s for lunch. Off tomorrow going to my daughter’s. Merry Christmas everyone. I’ve got some book shaped parcels under the tree that’s me sorted.

Just me up so far. Up early because I popped my hot water bottle and awoke in a damp puddle. I’m googling can I pre boil carrots and what to substitute for goose fat. We have drinks with cousins this morning and then I’ve been roped into hosting and cooking this afternoon. I am a pushover. Wishing you all a lovely Christmas X

I’ve been up since 5am with period cramps - 6 days early!! 🙃 DH has left a very interesting looking stocking on the end of the bed for me which I’m looking forward to opening once he’s awake.

Morning all and Merry Christmas! DH woke me "sneaking' out to go to the gym at 6.15 (loudest sneak ever,he was well happy when he found out the gym is open today as it wasn't last year). Back in bed with a snoozy Ddog and a cup of tea, we will head out for a walk once it's a bit lighter. Quiet day today its just us three.

Up since 5:30 with the baby. Trying to get him back to bed so I can shower before dd (8) wakes. But might go and light the fire instead now if I can get him down.

Morning all, Merry Christmas! We’ve been up since 1.30am with DS1 vomiting. So not the best start to the day! Contemplated getting an hour or so now that he has just fallen asleep but feel that will only make me feel worse as DS2 is already starting to stir!

Remind me, at what time is wine acceptable on Christmas Day?

Remember a lot of it is tat or chocolate.

I remember seeing that article about the woman that gives each child 500 gifts or whatever it was. She was wrapping individual tat items from the poundshop, for a lot of it. And it was all for show. That to me, means nothing, just giving for givings sake, and I'm sure your children feel the love behind the presents they do have.

One of the dogs has a filth-eating habit so thought I might come down to a poo-fest. But all OK. They are fed, took a cup of tea to DH, now sitting quietly. Just us and the dogs today. Merry Christmas, everyone.

I'm awake, 20 month old has slept through for about the second time in his life.
DD said that I can wake her when her brother wakes up, so she can see him open his presents.

Merry Christmas all! Sat with just the tree lights on with the dogs cuddled up and a coffee. Everyone else is asleep in bed (adult DC and partners) it's peaceful but I'm looking forward to a family day of dog walking, gifts and nice food cooked by DH,then a nap this afternoon. DH and DD still in bed- she's very ND and going through a night waking period, so it was a late one last night- already looking forward to a post-present nap!
No vomit tho, so that's a win

I've been awake since 5ish but that's a better night's sleep than many I've had recently so I'll take it! Got up to get the turkey out of the fridge, caught a whiff of the cheese and had to dash to the bathroom to be sick (am pregnant). Now just waiting for 3 yo DS to surface 🙂
