Couldn't sleep so come downstairs.

The only thing I wanted for Christmas is a fleecy cushion with arms. DH spotted one in Tesco yesterday and bought it home for me

The dog has ralphed on it!

Not the best start to the morning!

Sorry, a cushion with arms on it? Like the arms of a jumper? Do you wear it? Cant figure this one out at all

GoodnightJude1 · 25/12/2023 05:57

I was up at 5am. Just me and DH at home today (everyone here tomorrow)
So I’m enjoying a cup of coffee in peace while Ddog snores loudly. I’ll take him for a walk about 7am then come and wake DH up and do us a nice breakfast. Pub with all our friends from 12-3 then home to watch rubbish tele and prep for tomorrow.

Have a lovely day everyone, whatever you’re doing!

That sounds like a really nice day. Enjoy!

cashmerecardigans · 25/12/2023 07:08

We're up, having a cup of tea whilst the dog snores on the sofa. Doing some prep for tomorrow's buffet then will take the dog out.
Off to see adult DCs and grand children this morning, then pub for a couple of drinks and a lazy late lunch. Really looking forward to tomorrow, as all adult DC/SDC descend for the afternoon, along with my mum and sister. I miss the madness of the old days but cherish the fact we still all manage a day together en masse every year.

MerryChristmas23 · 25/12/2023 07:10

My DS5 is unwell, if his fever gets any higher we will be spending Christmas day in A&E, he's finally drinking some fluids but I'm still concerned. Hoping showing him the presents under the tree will cheer him up. We can always do presents tomorrow if he's not up for it today. DD2 is still asleep, me and DH have been up since 4 although not slept very well due

makeminealargeoneagain · 25/12/2023 07:10

Happy Christmas. Just me and the dogs awake at the moment. DH and adult children all still asleep after drinking lots of wine last night. I've just sorted the leg of lamb into the slow cooker and got back in bed with a coffee. The rest of the dinner prep can wait til later. Have a lovely day everybody.

Els1e · 25/12/2023 07:14

Another dog one. I’ve been up a while. Dog come and woke me needing to go out. He’s had diarrhoea. Mostly in kitchen but bits in other areas including his back legs. Done a major cleaning up. Now sat on sofa with a cup of tea. Dog asleep on the rug. Merry Christmas Everyone.

DumpedByText · 25/12/2023 07:15

I'm awake to, I've had the cat sat on my head for an hour telling me he's hungry!

DD is at her dad's this year so I won't see her until Friday, so it's just me.

No presents for me to unwrap either, my mum passed last year and my dad doesn't buy for us. 😕

Have a lovely day everyone.

Readingineading · 25/12/2023 07:17

Well, after 10 days of work I forgotten to turn my alarm off and woke myself, DH and the dog an hour ago 🤦‍♀️.
Just us today, we live abroad, DC's are adult. So we will set off soon to meet friends for a dog walk , then home for a nice breakfast. Later on it'll be zoom calls to family, Xmas dinner then another dog walk then round to friends.
Merry Christmas everyone.

Popetthetreehugger · 25/12/2023 07:18

Morning all 🫖 just had cuppa in bed , DH has nodded back off . Today we have DH family for lunch . Not an early start as lunch not till 4 , but think they will start getting here from 12 . We have a river walk and park on our doorstep, so DH can walk the grands down to run off some steam and stop them eating their body weight in quality street before lunch .and maybe carry on a bit to the pub . Have a very merry Christmas 🤶

Birchvalley · 25/12/2023 07:19

Merry Christmas morning All. Eldest dog woke me at 5am all last week but gave me a lie in this morning 🎉.
The pup was sniffing round the stockings so I’ve just given her one of her presents and she’s whirling round the rug with it.
DD11 is still asleep - she’s having a growth spurt and keeps sleeping till lunchtime.
Hope she gets up soon I want to open my presents!!!

ladygindiva · 25/12/2023 07:19

Didn't get to sleep until gone 130. Woken up before six by 7 yo with the shits. House stinks. I've just got rid of COVID so about to test her but allowing her to enjoy her presents before possibly breaking the news to her she won't be going to grandparents will have to stay home with daddy who also has COVID. Merry Christmas!

KinS24 · 25/12/2023 07:19

Merry Christmas all you lovely people.
Up with the cat at 06:30 and enjoying the peace before my three young adults emerge.

They all work now and buy presents so I have started to not know what everything is under the tree!

I live in a little cul de sac and have stood on the drive and watched the lights coming on in all the houses and remembered all the frantic christmases of the past when mine weee small.

Adeil · 25/12/2023 07:20

Merry Christmas, everyone!

I really love the sense of calm and anticipation in this thread.

I've been awake since 6.50- DD1 and my husband are fast asleep and snoring - both in bed next to me as DD is poorly and not breathing too well and DH stayed up late to keep an eye on her.

DS4 woke up minutes after I did and I'm listening to him happily chatting away to himself playing with his duplo in the next room- he may have forgotten it's Christmas as he didn't come into our room, just woke up and started playing.

I'm going to put the side light on and read my book in a minute and enjoy the sounds of contentment - before travelling to MIL's for a beef lasagne for me and roast for everyone else - MIL, having purchased said beef lasagne ready meal for me as I'm vegetarian - and after 10 years of being with her son she still hasn't worked out I eat vegetables but not meat as she doesn't eat pasta so it must all be vegetarian. 😆

MrsRetriever · 25/12/2023 07:21

sympathy for everyone who’s dealing with vomit, unwell children/selves, or is hosting and doesn’t want to.

It’s just us and 4yo DS this year, the rest of my family aren’t visiting until the 27th which I am looking forward to. DH isn’t keen on Christmas foods apart from a roast dinner - hates cheese, chocolate, mince pies, Xmas pudding, and doesn’t drink, so I am just trying to please myself until the others arrive!

Lovelycupofcoffee · 25/12/2023 07:21

Good morning everyone. Just been rudely woken up by the cat screaming to be fed . Teenage son won’t be up for hours so it’s just me for now . Have a lovely day everyone

EATmum · 25/12/2023 07:24

Awake with the cat for about an hour now, the rest of the house sleeping and still. It will be a lot of fun later, but this quiet time is for me to remember my mum. I miss her so much today. Christmas, with so many memories of other years, just sharpens grief somehow.

Mummyoflittledragon · 25/12/2023 07:26

Merry Christmas everyone. I’ve not been well with a nasty cold and cough. Feeling better today but not great. I slept the afternoon away yesterday and have been awake since about 3am. Dd (15) asked me yesterday if she still would be getting a stocking. I’m getting antsy now. She’s not up and I suppose won’t be for some time.

The magic of Christmas has largely passed in our household unfortunately. We have my cousin, her dh and my mum here so a full house. I’ll wake dh at about 9.30. Just wondering if I’m well enough to walk the dogs this morning.

CrackersCheeseAndWinePlease · 25/12/2023 07:27

Morning!
I woke up at 6.30, dd8 just after so now we're up with DH and MIL.
Older teens still in bed so I'm watching The Snowman with a coffee.
Gave DH his presents, yet to be reciprocated 🤔🤔

CeriB82 · 25/12/2023 07:29

Happy Christmas! 🎅🏼🎄

been up 35 mins. Put the stockings by the door, presents in the sacks and now having breakfast. Kids wont be up for a while (15-22) and DH is sleeping .

i need to make the batter for Yorkshires and the white sauce (menyn melys in Welsh) for my Christmas pudding. Not sure what it is called in English, (mix of flout, sugar and lots of butter).

im gonna get changed after coffee and go for a quick walk up the mountain.

Oppositioblue · 25/12/2023 07:30

Morning. I’m back in bed with a coffee. When that’s finished, I’ll jump in the shower and get my Christmas pjs on, the living room sorted and get another coffee while I wait for the family to waken up. It will be a couple of hours before they are up I think.

Beignet · 25/12/2023 07:30

Morning. Everyone is still asleep at mine. I woke up at 7am to let the dog out. DC's are all teenagers now so won't be up until later. They still love Xmas morning though.

We had Xmas eve guests so tidied up late last night so the house is clean. I'm hosting this year and lots of family and friends arriving at lunch time. All th3 veggies are prepped and dh cooks the meat so we are all ready to go!

TheCaddieisaBaddie · 25/12/2023 07:31

Happy Christmas everyone. Just me and the dog so far, DH has been up and gone back to bed.

Mydogisagentleman · 25/12/2023 07:33

Up since 05.45, just off to work, home by about 14.00.
Very hungover, I hadn't had a drink for a month, 2 glasses of prosecco and a gin and tonic and I feel shocking

Redcherries · 25/12/2023 07:34

Happy Christmas everyone.

Im very surprised to be awake as I’m on American jet lag time but Santa woke me when he got up to deliver stockings at 6. Adult kids still asleep but did hear ddog stirring a little while back. He’s on palliative cancer care and we didn’t think he would still be with us so very excited to be spoiling him today, he has many dog treats and a blanket to open. His favourite thing (besides the roast) will be the wrapping paper though.

just us 4 and the hound today, roast, cheese wine and we need to finish the game of monopoly started last night, I reckon I’ll be out of the game quickly, I have about £20 😂

Philandbill · 25/12/2023 07:37

Good morning all and Merry Christmas. Sympathy to those dealings with poorly children or pets. I was up at 5.30 as DDs hot water bottle (we're a bit retro here) had sprung a leak and her bed was soaked. DH migrated to sofa bed, DD came in with me and after a wide awake half hour I came down to put the ham in the slow cooker. Now enjoying multiple cups of tea in the quiet. Oven about to go on to heat pain au chocolate.
