My dog has a little sack with his name on hung up on the mantelpiece. He will be getting a ball, a packet of doggy cheesy nibbles and a fleece tug toy. (but mostly he will enjoy flinging wrapping paper about)

Cats are getting, a tub of cat nip, a mouse toy with catnip in, dreamies, new jingle balls and a new brush to share. They will also get a slice of turkey and a slice of beef each. Dogs are getting a box of bonio, Xmas poo bags, pigs ear treats to chew, a new small tennis ball each and a box of Dentisticks to share. They will also get a slice of turkey and a slice of beef each.

PieDog used to get a toy to rip apart and some treats. He would unwrap his own presents and LOVED Christmas. He would have to be given his presents as otherwise he would try and unwrap ours!! Sadly he's gone over the rainbow now. I've bought MIL dog a multipack of Pom Bears. They were PieDogs favourite and MIL dog doesn't destroy toys so he's got too many now to buy him another!

HardcoreLadyType · 24/12/2023 08:23

A new snuggly blanket, and an edible dinosaur chew.

He has so many toys, and doesn’t play with them as much as he did even a year ago, so we thought it would be nice for a change.

Our cat is getting a pet towel for when she comes in from the rain and a dreamies stocking. She had a Christmas cat toy with a ball in one of those cardboard things shaped like a Christmas tree earlier in the month.

Weirdly adverts for dog beds and horse blankets are now appearing on my page Xmas Grin

Naff all!! The horses will have some extra carrots and the dog will get a nice meal of roast dinner leftovers with beef in!

Apparently last year UK shoppers spent £873m on presents for dogs and cats. Imagine what a massive difference it would have made if that money was used to support animal shelters and neuter cats instead.

I’m a fosterer for my local shelter so plenty of my money goes on that already but I agree - that would be brilliant. We always need more money.

The Pets at Home foundation supports local rescues & charities, particularly at Christmas. I was tin shaking in my local branch a few weekends this month and people were very generous, despite the cost of living

Purplepeopleeaterz · 24/12/2023 16:53

Both dogs are totally spoilt as 3 friends and our neighbour buy for them. Lots of squeaky toys, lick mats and some treats this year.

slavetothekittens · 24/12/2023 16:54

I've got the cats a new scratching pad ( the old one was destroyed by a massive hairball) and some treats. They'll have a tuna Xmas lunch as that's their favourite. And they can have all the boxes to sit in and all the wrapping paper to scrunch.

TeenDivided · 24/12/2023 18:00

Next door's cat has just sent his slave round with a present for DD Smile

IKnowAPlace · 24/12/2023 18:02

Madam has already got her present - a very cosy new bed and blanket. Her old ones were falling to pieces and she's always stealing my knitwear to sleep with. She absolutely loves it! 😍

DCat has a new fishing rod toy and a new kicker. Also got her some nice cat food for today and tomorrow (she’s been on a strict anti-obesity diet recently). She pretty much inhaled her breakfast this morning 🥰

Shadowsindarkplaces · 24/12/2023 18:43

Talk buttons for ddog, treats for cats..
Might just regret teaching Ddog to 'talk'🤣

Xiaoxiong · 24/12/2023 23:11

The puppy is getting a new lead from his granny, a Christmas dinner and Christmas treats from us and a new teddy to shred!

Spaceman101 · 24/12/2023 23:26

My cat is getting a catnip banana, his favourite toy. His had it early because he has no idea what day it is.

Dog is getting some santa biscuits and a turkey toy, guinea pigs are getting a new wooden house and some fancy nibbles

Erberts · 25/12/2023 00:40

A new little wooden house for the tortoise and the dogs have a fresh turkey leg and a new bed each.

ladygindiva · 25/12/2023 00:43

Gravy bones, a funky bandana, a new bowl and a large squeaky toy shaped like a reindeer 😁

WetBandits · 25/12/2023 00:44

Cats have got a stocking full of balls, catnip mice and crinkly-sounding things that they will delight in bouncing down the stairs at 3am.

Dog has treats and toys. He found one of his presents (a Christmas tree tough toy) a few weeks ago and has been playing with it every day - well worth letting him have it early Grin

iloveeverykindofcat · 25/12/2023 04:37

The cats will have wrapping paper screwed into little balls, which is one of their favourite things.

This boy is having his first Christmas in a home. We rescued him in February from Dogs Trust and (sad post incoming) he'd been abused. He was approximately 1 year old, but so underfed and underexercised that his thigh muscles had failed to develop normally and he fell just trying to walk down steps. His coat was greyish and his ribs and spine stuck out. He was terrified of everything and had clearly never been inside a house or on a lead. The vets diagnosis from his state was that his life so far had been either chained up or confined to a shed, and barely fed.. After much food, plenty of exercise, and a lot of love, he became the fabulous strapping specimin you see here.

(He and other DDog will also have some chicken)

Nothing. They are guinea pigs and don't understand. A few people have tried buying them treats, but they hate processed food and refuse to eat them so they just get thrown out after a few days of being weed on!!

They will, however, get some left over courgette from lunch prep and extra snuggles and nose strokes.

As long as they get a Papa snuggle they don't care about anything else - including me!!

SnobblyBobbly · 25/12/2023 05:27

I've just made up little goodie bags of treats with a squeaky Christmas cracker toy in each. It was so funny because as I was in the front room splitting the treats, all of a sudden I could hear two little noses sniffing under the door! 😄

doodlepants · 25/12/2023 05:32

Santa brought a huge box of his fave kong treats!

covidforchristmas23 · 25/12/2023 05:52

They're getting a new equafleece each in neon yellow (the little dog has a habit of bolting in the woods) and a tug toy to share.

They also have a special edible doggy Xmas card from Aldi, which has had to go on a high shelf because they've been sniffing it out under the tree 🤣
