My dog has a little sack with his name on hung up on the mantelpiece. He will be getting a ball, a packet of doggy cheesy nibbles and a fleece tug toy. (but mostly he will enjoy flinging wrapping paper about)

Madam has already got her present - a very cosy new bed and blanket. Her old ones were falling to pieces and she's always stealing my knitwear to sleep with. She absolutely loves it! 😍

Absolutely adorable 😍

@iloveeverykindofcat Happy Christmas to you and your beautiful Ddog. I too have rescue dogs. Breaks my heart to think what they went through before they came to live here. Looks like your lovely dog is now living their best life just like mine.

The cheesy nibbles were a big hit they looked like proper shortbread biscuits I'd happily have eaten one myself ! he's now fast asleep on the sofa after a busy morning organising the wrapping paper into random heaps.

Merry Christmas to all our DPets, who bring us so much love and joy xx

They had goat legs yesterday and today, they have flashing balls and large solid chew. They are worn out from playing and trying to steal each other’s. Currently heads next to each other chewing the toys. They’ve had a big walk and someone in all day, probably the best present for them, although they’re never alone more than a few hours.

He’s having the best time with his new toy.

He got from DP

  1. Catnip Christmas fabric stocking.
  2. Dreamies - strictly limited to no more than three at a time, as overeating those leads to some spectacular puking incidents and several flesh wounds when he gets over excited.
  3. Fake grass that I can only describe as being like paper tinsel. Considering he's been sleeping in the decorations box on the actual tinsel since they came out of the loft, it wasn't a bad idea. There's now a square of green paper fake grass with a cat-arse sized crop circle in it, as he slept on it or two hours. Before getting back into the tinsel box.

There's something else with catnip in hidden for the fluffy old cat, as she spent six hours sleeping peacefully upstairs in the study on DP's chair instead of joining in with the present giving. She's just decided to announce that she is still alive by coming down to sleep on the back of the sofa, which she will inevitably tumble off onto my shoulder at some point.

Apparently last year UK shoppers spent £873m on presents for dogs and cats. Imagine what a massive difference it would have made if that money was used to support animal shelters and neuter cats instead.

It is not either/or.
I buy stuff for my dog, and also donate to the rescue she came from. I also put together a shoebox of xmas goodies for the local dog rescue.

Imagine the good that could be done if people did not spend (what I would assume to be a huge amount more than on pets) money on their kids at xmas too.
