Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa, in my usual spot. The boiler and fridge are humming away but it's lovely and peaceful down here, for now.

I've just announced up that it's time to think about moving so we can get up and out fairly soon ish. We're off to Ikea on the train, and then getting the tram into Sheffield to have a wander of the Christmas market there. I haven't found my new glass bauble yet so hopefully will find something there.

I'm hoping to be home fairly early afternoon so we can all chill before tomorrow. We're Christmas ready apart from our market trip in the morning 😊

Hopefully we'll eat out so I don't need to think about cooking later on & can just relax with a glass of something nice and my crochet balloon dog, before a nice early night ready for the morning.

What about all of you? 🎅

Good morning Lucysmam and others. That sounds like a busy day ahead for you. I'm heading to Tesco soon for food. Later I'll meet up with a friend to exchange gifts. I had a bad night - too much rich food - so I might have a nap this afternoon. I'll do some washing and ironing and housework as well. Enjoy your day!

Good Morning and Merry Christmas all. DD16 and I were up at sparrow fart to go to Sainsburys when it opened. It was silly busy at 6am!
We are now having the reward of a McDonald's brekkie.
Rest of today will be last tidying and making some mince pies. Maybe an afternoon nap!
Then we will light the fire are stick a film on.

Family arriving later today - in droves, all ages from 6 to 81. For a week. Will be lovely but a running buffet and constant washing up begins shortly. Am hiding in bed for another 30 mins 😬

Enjoying my coffee, dishwasher is on, so I'll give the kitchen a once over in a sec.

Off out at 11 for a surprise...Dd is trying to get it out of me, but I'm not telling ( much to her annoyance)

Good morning all. Slept well last night which has been a change since this dreaded cold started on Monday. Christmas shopping done, dropped off presents to family yesterday, so no plans today. DD13 says she doesn't want to stay home all day, which I can understand, so will try to pop to the local town to have a hot chocolate? Would like to hear some carolling but don't think that happens anymore?

I'm nursing a slight headache after Christmas drinks with a friend last night. I've had 2 paracetamol and a coffee so should be raring to go shortly.
DH is picking MIL up today and she's staying til the 28th, I've got a few bits to wrap and the usual cleaning and tidying but other than that a chilled day ahead

Currently trying to get motivated to get out of bed (volunteering at parkrun so I really do need to move soon!). After parkrun I'll pick up the turkey and drop it to my parents, then take the teens ice skating. Once DH finishes work at 3 we'll settle in for some films, including the official start of Christmas - Die Hard 🥳

Wrapping up gifts this morning in the Tea household, whilst awaiting the food delivery this afternoon (maybe get started on my jigsaw) before heading to the pub for a glass of something and then home to meatballs for dinner 😋

I'm still in bed. Will get up shortly to put a load of washing on. Dp's last day in work today he should finish at 11 been in since 4am. Dd's and I will walk down to the local shop to pick up the bits I forgot from the supermarket later this morning - if dd2 doesn't sleep in too late. I have booked dd's for swimming this afternoon, while dp has an afternoon nap, will pop in to supermarket on the way home if we don't manage to get to the shops this morning. We are all watching a movie together this evening.

Sitting in peace with DH with a cuppa waiting for a call with my friend. Then board games all day with my two lovely DS (23 and 25) who have come home. Shopping done, presents done, just films to watch!

Morning all 😊, yoga followed by a quick lunch with a friend, need to write a few Christmas cards for the neighbours I never really see but just wave to now and then.

Washing, ironing, wrapping.

We are not at home for Christmas Day so no food stress, although my fridge is bursting regardless.

I’ll encourage teen DD to walk into town for a coffee later on to try to get her out of the house.

Taking my dog out round the block, then doing my one paid job of the day today - a short dog walk.
I’m (briefly) swimming in the river today and I’ll take my dog out for a longer walk this afternoon. Need to put some decorations up as we’ve none yet and then out for a dance at a disco (sadly, I’m too old for nightclubs now) later.

Not much of a busy day for me - I usually do a lot more!

I'm sitting here thinking about a quilt I'm making as part of a Christmas gift. It's very nearly finished but I'm debating whether I'm going to run out of thread before the end and will need to go to buy some more.

This morning will be a bit of present wrapping and then later this afternoon I'll probably pop round to see DSis and DM.

I'm still in bed, which never happens! I'm ready for my silent tea by the Christmas tree now though. DC were still at school yesterday so I can't see them surfacing this morning. I did all the jobs yesterday so we are clean, tidy, prepped and ready to go!

I'll get out with the dog once I've enjoyed some silence then we've got pizza for tea while we watch a Christmas film. We started with Home Alone last night and tomorrow will be Muppets so not sure what we will go with tonight.

At least it's a balloon dog this week.

Morning everyone. My older teen has been properly ill for 2 weeks but on the mend now so taking her in to town so that she can at least get presents for her bf and her grandparents. Then sending dh for the last bits of food shopping. Think it will be movies and board games after that. Enjoy the day everyone.

Morning! I've missed these threads for a few weeks.
I was in bed at 7:30 last night so was up at 6. Currently in the bath having a tea.
Got to brave town to get a Christmas present for exBIL and something for both DC from father Christmas. Then will pick DCs up from their dad.
Can't decide what to do with them as we have had a couple of very chilled out days as we are all knackered but I am feeling a bit guilty about all the screen time. We do need to drop some presents off to various friends so we'll go for a little car journey at least.
I'm cooking a curry for dinner and then hopefully will persuade the DC into another Christmas film 🎥

Morning all

Was up early for a saturday as i wanted to do the last of my food shop, got to sainsburys for 7.30am and it was rammed! Everyone must be thinking the same with going early.

Going to now make breakfast before i go the gym then onto mums to drop presents off then home, shower and relax for the rest of the afternoon. Pie, mash, veg and gravy with wine later

Being nice to myself. Finished a busy term yesterday. Kids ill all term and now have ANOTHER cold, as do I. Plumbing emergency yesterday evening, husband has invited mad relatives to start arriving from 10ish and I've no real idea what is in the present box.

Food will be whatever looks most exciting reduced at M&S just before closing tomorrow, supplemented by random stuff squirrelled away in my cupboards and freezer over the last year.

But first, Calpol all around!

Sat in bed drinking coffee,had a lazy day with DH yesterday, after cooked breakfast went to the cinema and saw Wonka then cocktails in the city and train home. DH went to work at 6am and he’s not off now until Boxing Day.
Dd 16 is still asleep as she got in from a party at midnight and is working 2-10pm today.
Need to do the final clean and get the spare room ready for DF arriving tomorrow.
Going to DS and DIL this evening for mulled wine and snacks.
Starting to feel Christmassy now 🎄
