I'm just drinking my first cuppa, in my usual spot. The boiler and fridge are humming away but it's lovely and peaceful down here, for now.

I've just announced up that it's time to think about moving so we can get up and out fairly soon ish. We're off to Ikea on the train, and then getting the tram into Sheffield to have a wander of the Christmas market there. I haven't found my new glass bauble yet so hopefully will find something there.

I'm hoping to be home fairly early afternoon so we can all chill before tomorrow. We're Christmas ready apart from our market trip in the morning 😊

Hopefully we'll eat out so I don't need to think about cooking later on & can just relax with a glass of something nice and my crochet balloon dog, before a nice early night ready for the morning.

What about all of you? 🎅

Me and Dd were woken up by DP going to the loo this morning at 5.30am before he started work. I'm on my 2nd coffee and we've had breakfast. Im in work at 11.30 this morning. I've got a few more presents to wrap but I'm still waiting for one to arrive. The wrapping will have to wait until after work. I'm not sure what time I'll actually finish tonight. I've been late every night so far this week.

Baneofmyexistence · 23/12/2023 08:37

Taking the kids to see Father Christmas at an NT place this morning so looking forward to that. Got a Sainsburys shop coming later which has 10 subs so might walk down to Morrisons if they are no good. Other than that just washing, cleaning ready for visitors tomorrow and containing the excitement of two 6 year olds and a 7 year old!

Ragwort · 23/12/2023 08:41

Got back from my (small top up) Christmas shop at 7.30am ... surprisingly quiet, bumped into a friend I hadn't seen for ages so had a lovely chat. Now having an indulgent breakfast in front of the Christmas tree. Will walk into town later to catch up with a couple of other friends, then a bit of housework .. probably clean my silver which is a once a year job. Christmas drinks with neighbours later. Quiet night in, chilli from the freezer.
DH watching football on the tv later .. his team is doing quite well so hoping for a win.

mommatoone · 23/12/2023 08:47

Morning all. Bacon sarnies all round first, then off to get nails done and some last minute gifts. Im desperately trying to avoid any form of supermarket, but have a feeling i will end up there! Pub lunch, then Xmas films. Merry christmas 🎅 🎄

PermanentTemporary · 23/12/2023 08:47

Morning all. A big moment here as we lie in bed with my two male cats encountering dp's female cats for the first time... tis the Cat Brady Bunch here. So far no fighting. Off for a local preChristmas walk in the morning, and then a short supermarket trip for key protein only. Then an afternoon of unpacking boxes while ds meets up with his girlfriend. It is very nice having dp here, he moved in yesterday ❤

Morning @lucysmam and everyone.
i love these threads
I’m just having 1st coffee in bed in order to get energy to do the Big Xmas Clean. However I have a house full of sleeping teenage girls everywhere in the main living area - judging by the noise at 2am I don’t think they going to rouse any time soon so will start the cleaning at the top of the house.
Then will drop them all home, pick other DD up who has been on another sleepover and then go visit my mum and dad.
Back home to pick up DH from work as his car is in the garage then a bit of wrapping/prepping food for Xmas Eve.
Then out with friends later for dinner - don’t want to be out too late as need to be fresh for Xmas Eve as will have to hit the ground running with baking. But excited to be having a proper Xmas night out - planning to get a bit dressed up - hope I don’t bottle out of wearing my lovely new dress and end up in jeans instead!!
Merry Christmas everyone.

JMAngel1 · 23/12/2023 08:50

@PermanentTemporary love the phrase “key protein only” 😂

Enjoy your newly loved up Xmas!

ShipshapeShore · 23/12/2023 08:51

Tidying, cleaning and washing so I can sit down in an ordered house tomorrow evening.

I have to go to Pets at Home which shouldn't be too busy, however the entrance to the car park is shared with Tesco... 😭

Happy Christmas Eve Eve everyone!!

WhatWouldHopperDo · 23/12/2023 08:51

I’m all set for Christmas apart from a red cabbage and wine!

I’m having a cheese croissant and a coffee in peace.

I’m off to the Saturday morning pics at 10 to see the Muppets. By myself. It’s my own small Christmas tradition that I’ve been doing since the DCs refused to come with me!

Dh is meeting me afterwards and we’re going to our favourite Sushi place for lunch.

Not much on this afternoon. A few chores and a dog walk. Both DCs out tonight so DH and I will watch some Masterchef Australia and have Naan Pizza for dinner.

KnowThyself · 23/12/2023 08:54

Dropping in 4 Christmas cards locally, cooking a Christmas dinner as we have a relative here for today as they pass through on a business trip as they live overseas., then I will do my actual one on 25 December.

bunniesandguineapigs · 23/12/2023 08:55

DH has gone last minute present shopping. I've walked DDog, just drinking tea whilst deciding which household task to do first, just want to to have a quick clean through as I did a Big Clean last weekend and DH did all the floors yesterday. Also have wrapping to do and neighbour Christmas cards to write and deliver.

I finished the food shop about 11 last night so unless I think of anything last minute I've forgotten I don't need to go anywhere now thank goodness!

Sohereitissuddenly · 23/12/2023 08:56

Sat in bed with a cuppa, looking through some photos on my phone which just made me cry because this is my first Xmas without my Dad.

I'm really tired. Finished work yesterday, and have chronic fatigue syndrome so my body is a bit unhappy with me.

Not going to leave the house today. I need to clean, sort laundry out, and start wrapping! Once it's clean , I can wrap downstairs with a Xmas movie on and hopefully make it seem lovely for my boy who is back from his Dad's tonight.

Friend is hopefully popping in later too.

And an easy dinner...pizzas!

pushbaum · 23/12/2023 08:56

I’m out to get some last minute gifts, then to look in on my DSs who are both sleeping out in aid of charity and collecting for said charity all day, then restaurant lunch with PILs, drink with friend, cinema and home to wrap gifts and make sure everyone’s clothes are clean and ready for Christmas Day!

DixiePeach · 23/12/2023 08:57

Up at 5 to make tiramisu as ddog is scared of electric mixer so did it while he slept!
dropping dd at work then onto my yoga class and then trying to pimp up some supermarket flowers for my mil.

OldTinHat · 23/12/2023 09:00

Morning everyone and happy Christmas weekend!

I'm still in bed. Can't be bothered with anything and I think I'll stay here until 1st January when I have an invitation to a friends house for lunch. No reason to get up till then!

Funkyslippers · 23/12/2023 09:01

Worked yesterday & working this morning but it's been great so I don't mind & extra money. Just popped to Home Bargains (it was quiet) for a sieve as we lost ours so that's an extra present for OH 🤣. This afternoon walking friend's dog then going to spa with DD1 then out for meal & cocktails with OH & 2 DDS 😊

soupmaker · 23/12/2023 09:10

I'm still in bed. DH got up at stupid o'clock to go on shift and won't be back until this evening.

I'm contemplating the gym although would prefer a long walk but it's horrible weather here.

All the wrapping, food shopping and cleaning done so well ahead of where I usually am although do need a few extras for DD1s stocking so she has the same number of parcels to open as DD2. Leaving that until tomorrow as suspect shops will be hell on earth today.

Might make a banana loaf or banana pancakes as we have too many ripe bananas and need to get laundry done. Chilli for tea made from left over bolognese.

Right, I need to get off here and get a cup of tea on the go.

onwardandupwards · 23/12/2023 09:11

Morning everyone, I'm taking my 2 youngest to a christmas on the farm event, with wooden reindeer making, hot chocolates and lunch in their lovely cafe, its a really small local farm but my 2 youngest love it so much, their grandad has bought them a year's farm pass each for christmas as we go so much, ( one has asd other suspected to be, so hard to find places that don't cause meltdowns!) Everyone's days sound lovely, hope everyone has a lovely Christmas x

QueenMabby · 23/12/2023 09:13

DH and I were up early. In big Tesco by 7 but it was still really busy! Home by 8.30 and everything put away.

I'm just finishing breakfast then I'm meeting a friend for a coffee and present swap.

I need to make lemon possets, sticky toffee puddings and a lasagne today as well as giblet stock. Dd will make mince pies. Ds has mocks after a Christmas so will be revising.

Pulled pork in the sc for dinner tonight so need to put that on shortly.

Dbro probably arriving this evening and then my dps tomorrow.

Presents are all done and wrapped so I feel reasonably chilled. Will treat myself to a bit of list making time later to keep everything on track!

Simonjt · 23/12/2023 09:18

Good morning everyone.

We all went for a early swim this morning, so of course we had to eat chips afterwards in the pool cafe.

At the gurdwara we all have a thing we’re in charge of for the christmas meals, mine is breads. So I’ll be spending a lot of day maki roti, naan and little bread rolls. In Sweden a lot of homes have a drying cupboard, it looks a bit like an american style fridge but its warm to dry clothes, so I think that may be the best place to prove dough.

My husbands taking the children to a reindeer husbandry thing, I think they get to walk them etc.

Later tonight we’re heading off to a light trail and then we’ll have tea out I think, I’m not sure the kitchen will be fit to clean, I imagine it will still be a huge flour bomb.

Peopleareconfusing · 23/12/2023 08:06

Sitting in peace with DH with a cuppa waiting for a call with my friend. Then board games all day with my two lovely DS (23 and 25) who have come home. Shopping done, presents done, just films to watch!

That sounds lovely. My DS are 10&11, I hope in the future they come home to do the same.

Sunsetred · 23/12/2023 09:26

This thread makes me feel bad 😅 I wish I had an enjoyable day planned for the kids however, I have to get all my food shopping today, pick up a click and collect and go to the shops to buy a few more gifts. I also have lots of tidying to do but maybe I will do that tomorrow morning.

MysweetAudrina · 23/12/2023 09:29

Yoga class, followed by food shop. Meeting friend for a walk later. Lots of last minute housework and present wrapping and hopefully some time to chill out later.

Purplerain0505 · 23/12/2023 09:32

Having a nice chilled day at home! It’s very much needed. I’ll potter around a bit and get some washing sorted. I need to finish wrapping presents and nip out to drop some at relatives houses. We’re going elsewhere for Christmas for the first time in 6 years so we haven’t got as much to do and prep.

DS slept in for two hours longer than usual which is unheard of but now he’s very bright eyed and bushy tailed and jumping around the house like a frog. DH has popped out to buy sausages for breakfast and I’m in front of the fire enjoying a coffee. I’ve got a very sore back at the moment so I’m easing myself into the day.

We’ve decided to get a Chinese for dinner and I’m already looking forward to it!

TrumpetOfTheMatriarchy · 23/12/2023 09:35

Just surfaced, yawn. Lying in bed listening to the radio. Plans today are to finish wrapping and.....paint the bannister ( don't ask). We then have a family trip to the theatre at 2 pm. And this evening I have a meet up at the local wether spoons with a lovely group of mums I've known for years. We meet up for coffee fairly regularly but a drink drink only 2-3 times a year. So looking forward to a good catch up.
