Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa, in my usual spot. The boiler and fridge are humming away but it's lovely and peaceful down here, for now.

I've just announced up that it's time to think about moving so we can get up and out fairly soon ish. We're off to Ikea on the train, and then getting the tram into Sheffield to have a wander of the Christmas market there. I haven't found my new glass bauble yet so hopefully will find something there.

I'm hoping to be home fairly early afternoon so we can all chill before tomorrow. We're Christmas ready apart from our market trip in the morning 😊

Hopefully we'll eat out so I don't need to think about cooking later on & can just relax with a glass of something nice and my crochet balloon dog, before a nice early night ready for the morning.

Morning all. Been out with doggies, now we are all chilling on my bed while I relax with the iPad.
Going to sort the dog beds today - I know how to party! And generally do a bit of pottering. It’s been a looooong year and partner is going out so I am looking forward to peace and alone time for a good potter.

I’m in bed having a coffee and enjoying the peace and quiet.

DH went out about an hour ago to get a few last minute bits from the shops.

Teens are still asleep, but I’ll wake them up soon as we are going to the cinema a bit later. Off to see Wonka.

Doing some Xmas food prep this evening and then going to have a bath and do some beautifying bits .

I’m going to work shortly. DD is already there! DS1 just came home for Christmas, DS2 at his girlfriend’s. The three kids are all going out together later, after DS1 has been to the match, and DH is going out early and then to the match!! I will have a lovely empty house for films and then taxi to bring them all home 🤨

Husband's birthday today so he was opening his presents in bed with DD then we all got up.
DD had a bath, splashed everywhere and now water dropping through the ceiling in our new kitchen.
Marvellous. Thankfully not alot and I think it'll be ok as it was just a broken seal on the bath.

Got a few people visiting today as we're going on holiday on boxing day for two weeks so everyone wanting to see us before we go.

Still haven't packed, so doing that in between visitors!

I’ve had bugger all sleep (thank you peri-menopause), so everything I do will be done slowly.
I’ve done a wash and collected my book club book.
DH and DS are at Lidl getting Christmas Day veg.
We need to bake the gammon and wrap presents.
Late lunch, then pantomime.
Finish watching Die Hard if I can stay awake.

DP is at work, kids and I are in the process of cleaning and getting ready as we're having a family gathering at the in-laws this afternoon (about 20 of us and we're having a buffet so I'm in charge of potato salad and pasta salad)

Won't be a late one so we'll be home for either National Lampoon's or Home Alone later. Whatever we don't watch tonight will be our Christmas Eve film.

Everyone has been knackered to be honest so this is about as hectic as it is going to get. Although we are out for Christmas dinner but just with local relatives.

I've been up, made breakfast for my PIL who stayed last night after we did an early Christmas Day yesterday with them. They will go shortly then I need to brave going to our local M and S to pick something up and get some last minute bits for my dad. Then an afternoon of wrapping everything. My least favourite thing in the world. DD's have gone to the football with their Dad and we won't see them now til Christmas Day. I will drop the DSS's at their mums an hour away at 5, back for 6, then DH and I will either go to the pub or to see Napoleon at the cinema. I'm worried it's a bit long and I'm not sure I can be bothered to sit through it!

A lovely friend is taking me for afternoon tea at a posh hotel this afternoon ...such a treat.

We did our Big Clean yesterday, so are settling into being festive and relaxed today. DS and I normally make a gingerbread house each year, but have decided to try making a Yule log this year, so that may or may not be a success!

We need to get the decorations boxes out of the loft again because we forgot to put the baubles on the tree by the back door that we normally decorate. I've got a couple of cards to write for local neighbours, and we are having some Christmas drinks with friends this evening.

DH has a supermarket shop to do, and (despite my advice to go early) has decided that everyone will go early so he will go late morning. Time will tell whether that is a good strategy!

I’m planning to start the baking this afternoon. So will spend the morning doing a last quick flick of the duster and vac, change beds etc.

leaving this afternoon free to make mince pies, sausage rolls, shortbread, and a snowman cake for tomorrow!. I also have promised a dozen cupcakes and some sausage rolls for my daughter to take to work tomorrow, she’s a veterinary nurse and on shift over Christmas so they all try todo something each day to make it special.

Dd2 has woken up feeling rough so we're spending the day mooching here instead. I'll make pigs in blankets and maybe more mince pies instead.

Was looking forward to a wander of the Christmas market stalls too but would rather she sleeps it off if she can 😢

Might suggest Wonka later on, or text my dad to see if he's free to exchange gifts today rather than tomorrow.

Good morning lucysmam & everyone. I wasn’t feeling well when I woke up (churning tummy) but a bit better after an omeprazole. I think some of it is ibuprofen & also that I didn’t eat very much yesterday.
DD15 has her girlfriend staying - not sure what they’re doing today. I might ask if they fancy dragging the board games out, unless that’s not cool! We might go to see some lights tonight. There’s an estate not far from us that is famous for the displays & one house that featured on the local news. I have a few cards to deliver locally & some presents to wrap. Still need to buy surprises for DH ( we know what our main gifts to each other are). We haven’t done our big food shop yet. DH will get the veg in the morning then after I finish work, we’ll buy the rest. Only two of us this year as DD is at her girlfriend’s. Will be strange but nice to have no drama! I accidentally bought a huge turkey crown so we’ll be eating it for weeks!
I have a list of household stuff to do which includes finishing off clearing the kitchen table, moving the mountain of bags for life, shifting a load of stuff out of the lounge, clear the stairs, sort out the shoe basket in the hall etc etc. Also have a boot full of things to go to the charity shop. Usually go to the hospice one but I think I’ll take it to the Air Ambulance instead. DH will put the Christmas cards up on strings later. We were given 2 extra pieces of chicken in our KFC delivery last night so I’ll have them for brunch then tonight we’re having steak pie, double cream mash, carrots & petitpois.

Knee-deep in Christmas prep (and snow, its been snowing non-stop since yesterday morning)
Right now I'm sitting on the kitchen stool next to the hob so I can stir the rice porridge from time to time. It's been cooking for about 3 hours now. I cooked the potato casseroles and they are cooling. I've done the ironing and washed and hung up the laundry. Once the rice porridge is finished I'll have lunch and then I need to vacuum.

OH is playing guitar in the basement but soon he'll clean the sauna and perhaps do the snow work, but might leave that for tomorrow as the snow isn't letting up.

DS is pacing around waiting for a message from our neighbour to say their grandson has arrived and is ready to play.

DD is still in bed.

This afternoon we'll go to sauna, then have pizza and nibbles and watch 8 bit Christmas, then children to bed and I get everything ready for tomorrow. We celebrate on Christmas Eve so tomorrow is the big day.

The weather is absolutely horrible here, blowing a gale and pouring down. I wanted to go into town this evening to see the xmas lights and the market but we won't bother if it doesn't calm down.
I'm getting my food shopping tomorrow, lots of supermarkets around so i should be ok.

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone, all’s quiet here. I’ve walked the dog with my neighbours, the dogs enjoyed a chase around so ours is snoozing.
dh is faffing around, I’ve cleared the ironing pile and put most of it away.
about to tidy the kitchen then I will do some sketching I think.
Absolutely nothing else planned so a peaceful day 🙏

DD1 is coming home for a week. She is 27 and lives with her boyfriend but still wants to spend Christmas Day with us. He is going to his family who live just down the road to us so he is nearby and will be around on Boxing Day.

We have very specific family traditions for Christmas Eve but can't do them tomorrow as DD2 (25) has to work so we are doing it today! Looking forward to games, a takeaway and The Polar Express later (which we have watched every year since it came out on DVD! )

Every year I think it might be the last time we are all together for Christmas as at some point they might ( quite rightly) want to do something different, but they still want to spend it with us! 🎄

Morning all.

I had a lovely lie in until 9.30 as DH finished work yesterday and it meant he could get up with the kids.

Still sat drinking my first coffee watching 2 year old play with her puzzles and blocks. The older two are out with DH getting some bits for dinner tonight. We're having chilli.

We are off to see MIL after lunch and later have a friend and her kids coming for some crafts, biscuit decorating and gift swap. The elves left us stuff to make gingerbread men so that's what we'll be doing after we get home.

House is clean, food is in for Christmas Day and our traditional Christmas Eve party food buffet. Gifts are all wrapped.

I'm looking forward to a fruity cider tonight with a Christmas film and lots of mulled wine tomorrow 😀

I was up early and had a nice peaceful bath then headed to church to help with christingle making for tomorrow. Sick of the sight of oranges now 😂

Currently queuing in the butchers to pick up our Christmas hamper there's a big queue so MNing while I wait! They have samples to taste in the queue so it's not al bad!

This afternoon we have some family coming over for exchanging gifts and some food, keeping it simple with cheese and crackers, crisps and dips, and party food that just flings in the oven 👍

Early evening we will watch polar express with hot chocolate 🎄

Morning everyone everyone. We're off to my sisters for a pre Christmas meet up/present exchange as we won't all see each other on the day.

Still got a few bits of wrapping to do and the lounge needs a tidy round and hoover so will do that when I get back. Hoping to prise DD off YouTube so we can watch a Christmas film together

Parkrun, hair appt, cooking ham, take the bird out of the freezer, cleaning the house, coffee with a friend this afternoon.

Then laziness, and start on the Christmas food & wine. 😊

Just got back from the gym and now sat with coffee. I am not moving from this sofa lol My next assignment is due on 30th December so will start that later on today, after a nice film.
Then it's movie night tonight 🙂
