LTB (obviously)
A spa day
A bubble bath
A glass of fizz
Posh chocs

For children;
Hot chocolate

I can't think of any more but I am sure there are a few!

Have you tried a hot wash and leaving it to dry in direct sunlight?

sprigatito · 19/12/2023 15:47

You forgot "take in ironing" for the short of cash

WallaceinAnderland · 19/12/2023 15:48

Tinkly laugh

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 19/12/2023 15:49

Get him privately assessed for autism/ADHD.

Mildly curious to know if anyone has ever done this? Many people I know cut back hugely on ironing during (and since) Covid. DH irons his work shirts, I hardly iron anything these days!

Reins

Slings

Write a list of all the household chores to show him how much you do, then agree on which jobs you’ll do, and which jobs he can take on.

Wishimaywishimight · 19/12/2023 15:52

I forgot;

Therapy / counselling / "speaking to someone" - for even the smallest issue
Just move house / downsize - ah yes, this one is so easy
Just change jobs - as above
Get new friends / new partner - as above

Some people make suggestions as though it's a matter of pointing your magic wand at these 'new friends', 'new job' etc and it will appear.

Get a lodger in.

Always weirds me out that a solution to a hard home life is to introduce a stranger to it.

This brings to mind the genius suggestion to "invoice" a tightwad DH/DP for childcare, cleaning, cooking etc which enables him to carry on with his "big job" while the OP tries to survive on Maternity Pay / savings.

If anyone's DH/DP has EVER looked at such an invoice, said "oh my darling, I didn't realise" and pulled out his wallet then I'll eat (all) my Christmas jumpers.

Always rear facing car seat. (Yes I acknowledge they are safer for most)

Something the want, need wear and read

GodblessHookyStreet · 19/12/2023 15:55

Co sleep with your child until they are 10

AngelAurora · 19/12/2023 15:56

Spa day tops the list for me 🙄

TrashedSofa · 19/12/2023 15:56

Get your free half hour from a solicitor, you're entitled.

Always weirds me out that a solution to a hard home life is to introduce a stranger to it.

My sister tried this a few times after her divorce, over a period of a few years. Out of maybe 6 or 7 lodgers, 2 of them were fine, the rest ranged from a bit weird to completely bonkers or downright unpleasant.

I just don't get the appeal - I have tried several times but I cannot relax enough to enjoy being mauled by an oily handed stranger while my face is pressed into a hole in a table. I hate the forced small talk or, even worse, the silence while allegedly 'soothing' music plays in the background.

Definitely log it with 101.

Esgaroth · 19/12/2023 16:02

Go back in time and don't have children with him. Why would you have children with him? This is your fault.

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis · 19/12/2023 16:05

Soak it in really hot water then plaster it in magnesium sulphate.

ItAintGonnaGoDownEasyIfItAintCheezy · 19/12/2023 16:07

Go NC.

BethDuttonsTwin · 19/12/2023 16:08

Dog walking for cash shortages.

Dog walking is like any other business, you have to build a client base, which takes months/years. You also have to…know something about dogs and like them! It’s hard work with total responsibility for actual living animals, yet presented as on the same level as ironing a load of shirts!

AmyandPhilipfan · 19/12/2023 16:08

On threads about children's behaviour

Seek an autism/ADHD diagnosis - now yes, I realise that lots of children do have these conditions, but we seem to be moving to a time where children can't display any negative behaviour without being labelled. Sometimes kids are just naughty!

Can you send him/her to boarding school? - I would say it's only the elite few for who this is a financial possibility and as 99% of boarding schools are private I very much doubt a child with poor behaviour would be accepted into one or last there very long.

Cancel the cheque

Move closer to a city, but NOT London. In fact, everyone needs to move out of London immediately.
Breastfeed until 15. Oh, you gave up at 6 months? Re-introduce it anyway to your 8 year old
