The funniest thing you’ve read on Mumsnet

A relative latecomer to Mumsnet, I’ve read posts that have been heart-breaking, sad, fascinating, terrifying.

There have been lots that have been funny and a few that have made me howl with laughter. A few that spring to mind:

’You’re the chicken carcus’

Snapped and farted

And the one where people posted about the reality of clothes bought on line eg leather jacket made one poster look like Suzi Quattro’s nan. And the Monsoon top with a collar that looked like a triceratop.

And so many more 😁

I AM CANADIAN

I use it occasionally when I'm being manspained to in a work situation. One day, one amazing day a woman I the room will laugh.

That wasn't the context on the thread but I hope the poster would appreciate it.

Oh god - thank you all. Bloody needed a laugh and have just cried with mirth through the last 5 pages of posts.
Bookmarking for my Christmas Day reading.

This thread is making me really sad as I recognise both my parents and my ILs in so many posts . I have read it before and laughed along with it - but they have all passed away now - and thinking of their funny ways makes me sad (sorry for spoiling mood of the thread!)

Ah, I'm sorry Apple - the similar little ways of my late grandparents and PIL are also remembered with sadness but great affection in our house, as well as still giving us a good laugh.

💐 to you.

The family who couldn't finish a tub of
Pate despite eating it over the week. I
I'm sure it was found to be a "joke" post but it makes me smile every time I eat Pate.

The cat stuck in an empty house was brilliant but some people thought the OP was trolling 😂 it went on for about 3 threads, all with the maximum 1000 replies on them 💀

Hugo

This thread and the Fashion Reality vs Expectation one occupy a permanent fond space in my brain. Hugoslavia and Hugogirl 🤣 "Are you still there OP or did Hugoaway?" after the OP had flounced is one of my all time favourite MN comments. Absolute genius 👏

Long name for Hugo? | Mumsnet

Are there any names that Hugo could be a nickname for?

Can anyone link "your minge"?

Loved all these - penetration man, cubes of poo, penis beaker, Suzi Quattro's fat Nan still haunts me every time I put on a leather jacket, Mexican house thief, sex in the hedge

Min you, I'm still giggling over something I heard on Radio 2 this morning, I think it was on Zoe Ball's show ... a mash-up of Jessie Ware's 'hello love' and Jane McDonald www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001t8x6 at 1:57:30

@Defiantlynot41

i think it was pulled years ago.

im not sure if the poster has come back under another name/account, but i really miss her. I still think of the thread & laugh!

the other one that stills makes me laugh us I AM CANADIAN

Good days.

Rickenbackergoodgrief · 21/12/2023 06:36

A good few years ago on a thread about kids clothes.
One poster was describing her difficulty in getting tights on her little girl, who was around 2 years old.
She went on to say that out of frustration, she gave the tights an almighty yank which resulted in her daughter looking like a blonde haired maggot.
For some reason, that line ' blonde haired maggot ' sent me into uncontrollable laughter.
Every now and again if I see a little girl in white woollen tights, that line pops into my head and sets the giggles off again.

" Paul... is that you? "

The one where you discover an inordinate amount of people undress completely to have a poo 🥴

what?!?

ssd · 13/03/2024 09:59

I loved the comment from a poster talking about menopause and how you get angry for nothing and she said she had an emotional argument with her dh over his use of the tesco clubcard

That really made me laugh

chickenwings2 · 13/03/2024 10:02

The lady who wanted her cleaner to hoover lines in her carpet like WTF

Think of it when I'm hoovering like what a waste of time it is to do that

RenoDakota · 13/03/2024 10:03

There's a new contender going on right now, with the OP's boyfriend constantly talking to his teddy bear.

CeciledeVolangesdeNouveau · 14/03/2024 17:05

Beansandneedles · 13/03/2024 08:56

what?!?

TBF that would explain why it takes my boyfriend twenty minutes.

There was a thread about embarrassing yourself and there was a post about a woman who go at Amazon package from an incredibly tall delivery man and as she shut the door she meant to shout 'Thank you!' but for some reason she blurted out 'TALL MAN!', which just totally cracks me up every time I think of it.

Also a thread about getting excessively angry with inanimate objects and all the dumb things we've broken/shouted insults at while in a mood. There was some hilariously creative swearing involved.

I dud not see this first time round, so thank you for sharing, I literally have tears rolling at this...😂
