Just that really.. (Kind of lighthearted/maybe not!)

I was replying to your reply to me, @Sexlivesofthepotatomen. I can only do that by tagging you as you are replying to a quote. You realise a reply is the same as a tag?

All about the faux sex positivity, fuck the facts, eh?

There could also be a Clare, but there was definitely a Pamela in June/July who many thought was fake. Her husband came to the thread after she’d died.

Pamela and Clare were both real, the death notices were easily found on Google.

The flack those poor families attracted on Reddit and Tattle will live with me a long time.

Sorry wait, someone’s DH wanted to use their stoma as an orifice to f**k?

That throwaway comment is the most shocking thing I’ve read on here, and I’ve been here years.

Oh my god, me too.
Made me push my chair away from the desk 😧

Bahhhhhhhumbug · 19/12/2023 10:07

The family who have a pack of pate as a treat tea but struggle to use the entire pack…

honeysuckleweeks · 19/12/2023 10:07

I completely believed Pamela and Clare's mum. That it's possible that one or both were a troll is definitely the most shocking thing I've red on MN , and I'm not at all convinced that either were.

Northsideoftheriver · 19/12/2023 10:09

My husband is very non confrontational and says the bamboo will keep growing and eventually she won’t be able to see over it, but I think this will take year as she must be hitting the 20ft mark at full jump height.@ALittleTeawithmilk
I laughed so much at this, I nearly choked. I can remember that one.
I found the screaming in the chapel thread both shocking and funny.
There's been a couple of DV threads that have shocked me. I must skim over or miss the very shocking ones.

KeepSmiling89 · 19/12/2023 10:10

I remember reading a thread a couple of years ago about a woman asking if she was being unreasonable to leave her abusive husband during lockdown as she wasn't sure if she would be breaking lockdown rules by running away, taking public transport etc. I remember she made it to her sister's house. I often wonder what happened to her and what she's up to now...

That American cheese is all somehow "fake" and rubbish.

This is your most shocking thing? When women are posting about domestic abuse, rape etc?!

ehb102 · 19/12/2023 10:11

The time Sir Stephen Whittle (a transexual man who has been instrumental in forcing gender self identification policies into place) came and posted here. I was absolutely shocked by (1) the lack of clear argument and facts from a supposed academic and (2) that Stephen refused to listen to, acknowledge or even consider any points made that didn't suit what Stephen wanted. I was entirely prepared to be confronted by a clever argument I couldn't match, but there was nothing at all apart from arrogance and entitlement that everyone should get in line and believe their beliefs.

OfcourseitsaNC · 19/12/2023 10:11

2 crazies from today:

Should I ask my parents for £50k? (They gave her £40k 8 years ago and apparently they can afford it)

Should I send my child to nursery without a packed lunch? (They aren't eating the food inside, so why bother?)

They weren't, they were real.

And if its consensual and nothing goes wrong then no one will ever know. But abusive or careless men will never again be able to hide behind "consent" as a defence for the women they kill.

I've been around along time and there isn't much I haven't seen/heard/done, but the one thing I cannot fathom is why some women are are happy to let their OP strangle them.
Nope no nada sorry no way

BettyUnderswoob · 19/12/2023 10:13

I remember the dognapping, I was on the thread. The poster was Andrewofgg (I remember the name because I had a friend Andrew who lived on a street with the initials GG so it used to make me think of him) he was a long term poster and previously pretty inoccuous. He seemed to think it was a hilarious anecdote; and kept defending himself with "it was a long time ago", even when it was pointed out that the dog would have starved to death, and his elderly neighbour would have been distraught.
He left and said he wouldn't return to MN.
I wonder if he did.

As an aside, I rember eating nice cheese when I was in California many years ago. Why wouldn't there be good cheese there? The anti-American sentiment in here is embarrassing.

HolyZarquonsSingingSeals · 19/12/2023 10:13

The number of people who expect free child care from anyone vaguely related to them.

Mazuslongtoenail · 19/12/2023 10:14

The woman who’s DH was wfh and being live-streamed onto a tv on the office wall all day while he worked and almost everyone said it was fine!

WetTowelsWillRemainOnFloorWhereTheyHaveBeenLeft · 19/12/2023 01:29

@ShortMotherfuckerWithTheIvoryHair i remember her. You could feel the warmth from the other side of the internet.

I think her name was something like Earthmother? I’m pretty sure it began with an ‘e’ anyways.

That post was both heartwarming and heartbreaking. I think it was earthmotherimnot although I could be wrong.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 19/12/2023 00:23

That a poster said they share a small portion of fish and chips between a family of four as 'that's plenty' along with a massive salad. I think of them every time I go to the chippy and tuck into my dinner 😱😂

Its like on TV when they get ONE pizza for a party/sleepover/large family etc... between like 6-8 people.

You best believe I'm getting a whole damn pizza to myself, chowing down and eating that whole sucker in one.

I mean unless its Margarita (dull) what pizza do half a dozen+ different people even all want?

IBegYourBiggestPardon · 19/12/2023 10:18

time4aNC · 19/12/2023 02:10

This thread was so long ago I’m not sure I’m remembering it correctly but a poster let their holiday home to a neighbour for free. The neighbour in question had been harassing them about it and OP gave in.

When OP went to their holiday home for a holiday the neighbours family was in there! They had made a copy of the key.

The Mexican house thief one?

It's personal choice, if two people in a consenting relationship want to explore strangulation then it is totally their choice

If one of them croaks, it will be handy to have a legal handle to prosecute the other.

Wisterical · 19/12/2023 00:45

That over 50% of readers would NOT make their child give up their seat on the bus to someone elderly or with mobility difficulties!

Many young children do not have formed balance and co-ordination.

As someone with a neurological disability that effects movement I have the abilities of a pre-schooler. For me its is classed as a disability because I'm 'delayed' to the level of a small child when adults should be way more developed but for a small child its average ability.

Why would my disability come above their equal as yet undeveloped ability?

MsRosley · 19/12/2023 10:21

That people can be seriously triggered by cheese.

Pookerrod · 19/12/2023 10:22

There are obviously horrible shocking ones but given the time of the year I’m going to try and keep it light-hearted…

The one that I was gripped to was the random old Korean lady in the back garden 🤣

It's always the same with trans activists. There's nothing there, it's like drawing back the curtain on the wizard in the Wizard of Oz.

I have just sat and read through this (Not every comment, just Earthmothers updates) Angels do exist, so humbling. What an incredible lady (and her husband). Now to sort the mascara out before my Teams call in 10 minutes.....

@enchantedsquirrelwood

The government said more or less exactly this yesterday: Spiking to be targeted in raft of new measures - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

If you go right to the end it says "The government has also created new offences to criminalise acts such as non-fatal strangulation"

And I'll continue to have (as a married for 17 years, 40 year old woman) the kind of sex with my husband that we want whether someone tells me it's a criminal offence or not. After all, my body, my choice right?!

Posts like this, been about 5, that show why men continue to kill women when some people perpetuate this idea women want to die during sex. What about your kids of it goes wrong which can happen in about 15 seconds? So unbelievable. It really is a terrible attitude that encourages sadism.
