Anyone want to shares there’s? I have a few but the that upsets me is swapping 4 pizzas for 2. Come on Tesco do I not feed the adults or not feed the children?

Fucking Asda substituted every single Christmas food item on our list. Sent a bog standard beef joint instead of the port soaked one, fucking gingerbread biscuits instead of the chocolate orange bomb, two jars of bisto instead of the pouches of beef gravy, and worst of all, substituted every single one of the eight different party food packs for tempura prawns. Eight fucking packs of prawns for a party. Twats.

And to add insult to injury, we sent it all back then went to Asda for replacements and got every last item we ordered with no problem at all.

SadlyACupOfTeaDoesNotSolveEverything · 23/12/2023 07:56

Only one from Sainsbury’s today. 1 twelve pack of eggs instead of 2 10 packs. Off to the local shop I go.

Catsknowbest · 23/12/2023 07:57

YouAndMeAndThem · 23/12/2023 07:42

I had 19 substitutions and 9 items unavailable from Asda including my fancy corn fed chicken, all the alcohol, Christmas pudding, gravy... Essentials!!!! Spent last night 10pm on Tesco trying to salvage what was left and still need to go back today for booze as couldn't buy it after 10pm.😡😡😡 Should have just done it all on Tesco, will know for next year

I would have rejected the whole order that's terrible and why I stopped using Asda for delivery

The room for error is far too big for us to risk a Christmas food delivery. Sainsbury’s and M&S last night was great fairly quiet too, plus you get to pick out the dates and odd looking veg etc.

BigGapMum · 23/12/2023 08:00

I haven't read the whole thread, but wanted to warn those of you who are relying on a delivery to get your turkey. I've been out shopping this morning and there seems to be a shortage of turkeys this year. At 6am in Sainsbury's there were only a few turkeys left and they were organic free range ones, cheapest was £67. I went on to Tesco, and it wasn't a lot better there. Staff both places said that there were supply shortages this year.

Combusting · 23/12/2023 08:04

This is why we got the delivery booked for last night and not Christmas Eve or something. Because they have substituted ……

Seafood mix with crabsticks
Sausage meat stuffing with Yorkshire puddings
Crisps with peeled potatoes

So…

Ostryga · 23/12/2023 08:04

Just got my delivery order confirmation and Sainsbos has subbed wrapping paper with CLEAR cellophane. Great stuff 😂

Spirael · 23/12/2023 08:14

I've had my receipt from Ocado for the delivery coming this morning. 1 reasonable sub and 1 that isn't ridiculous but the volume drop means I'll need to reject it as it won't feed everyone.

But then there are 4 missing items... Bread, eggs, orange juice and chocolate milk.

They really couldn't find any subs for those? 😒 Fortunately DH has popped out to Morrisons and acquired the missing bits easily enough.

They did the opposite for me. I ordered 2 boxes of 12 and they are sending me 5 boxes of 6 instead! I don’t really need 24 eggs but got extra as we tend to eat cooked breakfasts when we are off.
30 eggs is a bit silly though 😆

satelliteheart · 23/12/2023 08:33

Got my asda delivery last night

1x 600ml double cream unavailable so they sent 4x 300ml...evidently maths isn't a strength of that picker

And very similar to @Aposterhasnoname all four of our party food packs replaced with frozen pigs in blankets...on top of the two packs of fresh pigs in blankets already ordered. So we now have 6 packs of 12 pigs in blankets. But to be fair it is the one food I am very happy to have a surplus of as it's my favourite Christmas food

Gribbit987 · 23/12/2023 09:17

Mine are all very sensible. Ocado and Morrisons orders coming this pm. Always choose 23rd so I can fix problems on 24th if necessary.

Been doing Ocado Xmas for the last decade and find them very reliable. Never had to go shopping.

Was in Marks yesterday and they’d ran out of trolleys and the car park was full with a queue. Utter carnage. Hadn’t expected it and was only there for some pottering 🤣 Very glad my Christmas shop is delivered!

And so the Christmas food shop substitution start…

Slightly disappointed as I was hoping to be able to report a strange substitution, but all very sensible when I got my receipt this morning! 6 substitutions, all fine, the only one I will reject is my lovely honey roasted cashew nuts have been swapped for Essentials salted cashews 🙄 that is of course typical because it’s only me that wants these, anything DH or DC want are all coming!

captainsudoku · 23/12/2023 10:08

I don't have any missing items or substitutions in my Ocado order for tonight. This is a relief as the supermarkets round here are either rammed or short staffed.

I might have to pop out tomorrow morning to get some extra veg and chocolate though.

Doggymummar · 23/12/2023 10:09

Tesco had everything!

TinselAngel · 23/12/2023 10:25

I’ve been sent beef gravy instead of turkey gravy FFS.

autienotnaughty · 23/12/2023 10:27

Ok so Asda food shop is due in a hour. 12 substitutions including-

Chestnuts - substitute is beef gravy
Single cream- substitute is dairy free cream
Pizza dough- substitute is puff pastry

To be fair the other 9 are all workable.

@BigGapMum Yeah I agree with this. We always go to our Morrisons on morning of 23rd and pick up our Turkey with no issue. Usually buy a breast or crown as there’s only 3 of us. 7.30am this morning there was 2 shelves of turkeys left. All XXL turkeys for around 16 people. Not even a joint left. All shelves filled with small chickens 😅 Staff said there won’t be another delivery.
Drove half an hour to our nearest Asda and managed to get just a plain crown. 2 left. A few huge turkeys and a couple of very expensive organic ones at £60+. Again, staff said they’d be getting no more in.

Musicaltheatremum · 23/12/2023 11:05

I am awaiting delivery of seafood sauce as a substitute for cranberry sauce 🙄. Fortunately I found the jar I thought I had bought so it's not a disaster!

Loopzy · 23/12/2023 11:34

Just got my receipt and Tesco have subbed my gluten free mince pies and biscuits for normal ones...this may not be a bad thing, but I'm disappointed! Thankfully they have everything else.

Trez1510 · 23/12/2023 13:07

Tesco receipt now received. Two substitutions - both to my advantage and eminently sensible.

Two unavailable items for which there were no suitable substitutes. Disappointed as these were basic items - Hovis Bloomer loaf and multi-flavour Boursin pack. In all honesty, I imagine the bread and cheese areas were so crowded the picker could not afford to enter the fray due to their limited time to pick.😗

Overall, very good. Just means Bloomer and Boursin added to partner's Christmas Eve mad-dash shop. 👍

SophiaElise · 23/12/2023 14:02

I've just got my receipt for my ocado christmas delivery, expected later this afternoon. No unavailable items. Just 2 substitutions but they're one brand for another e.g. Ocado eggs for M&S eggs. Same quantity. So no substitutions as far as I'm concerned...

Let's see if they actually deliver what's on the receipt!

ODFOx · 23/12/2023 14:40

We collected (couldn't get a delivery) this morning: no subs snd nothing missing 🙂. Very pleased !

Ohmylovejune · 23/12/2023 14:58

I did a normal shop.

No Clotted Cream. Any attempt at substitution would be impossible to accept. I'll buy some downtown tomorrow when I collect my Christmas Eve fish platter.

No plain large ham or gammon joint. They would probably have substituted it with one of their boxed pimped hams and that would have been acceptable. Ive left it in hope we will pick one up after Christmas.

No lychees. No acceptable substitution. We can live without lychee raspberry lemonade until the summer to be honest.

My turkey is a separate collection of Christmas food to order- you pay a deposit and can't change it after a certain date. Never had an issue doing it that way before.

I've always seen dozens of frozen turkeys left whenever I've collected mine. Not ideal but would do if that's all that was left.

We noticed that when we were in Asda earlier. We get our turkey from the butcher, but were there getting party food as I didn't trust them to pick it without subs I won't eat as I'm fussy and the frozen turkey section was decimated

Sniggering at @Aposterhasnoname's 8 packs of tempura prawns 😂 there wasn't much selection for party food when we were there (we have it Xmas eve even though it's just us) however there was plenty of tempura prawns 😂
