Anyone want to shares there’s? I have a few but the that upsets me is swapping 4 pizzas for 2. Come on Tesco do I not feed the adults or not feed the children?

We got hot chilli jam rather than chutney for my cheese board. That will likely kill off my elderly relatives who think a korma is the equivalent of munching on a scotch bonnet.

😂😂 this did make me laugh!!

Crunchymum · 19/12/2023 18:15

Another one with an Xmas eve slot (although I've got an early slot so still have time to get to the shops if I absolutely have to).

We aren't home for actual Christmas dinner but the plan is to do it on Boxing Day so I am putting a lot of faith in Sainsburys (I'll be going out to get the meat on Saturday so it's just the rest I'm leaving to chance)

BeansOnToast32 · 19/12/2023 18:23

Ocado delivery this morning just substituted Gu Zillionaires Pots with Gu Salted Caramel Cheesecakes. Nothing drastic. I get Ocado every week and hardly ever get substitutes and if I'd do it's usually swapping one brand of crumpets to another.

I will be doing my fresh food shop on Friday morning.

Im picking from 3am tomorrow. Ill try my best not to sub anything Grin

CrystalTitsBoss · 19/12/2023 20:53

I'm slightly disappointed that I've never received any odd substitutions. Last week though, Asda delivered an £86 shop and the cream that I ordered had spilt out onto a couple of bits and they automatically refunded the whole order. I could not believe my luck. I was only expecting a refund for the small pot of cream.

Sainsbury's this morning substituted 4 Lindt santas at £3 each for one single milkyway reindeer thing costing £1

YABU. One pizza should suffice for a family of 4.

Always one 😂

Oh mate. Joking. Obviously, I thought.

YABU. One pizza should suffice for a family of 4.

Both my teenage son and husband would eat a whole shop bought pizza to themselves. Myself and pre teen daughter would share one. I would love to see my husband and sons face if I served them up a quarter of a shop bought pizza for dinner.

Ok, I give up (it was a joke, FFS! Bangs head against wall)

It tickled me 😁

As did all the replies!!

My ticking of the 'no subs' box now feels very dull.

SequentialAnalyst · 20/12/2023 02:05

@MrsSkylerWhite, we need a MN emoticon for "deadpan."

Ladyj84 · 20/12/2023 02:25

The funniest sub we had from Tesco was I ordered potato wedges and they substituted for a bag of frozen peas....but quite often our substitutes are more than or better than what I ordered so I love our Tesco lol

Xmastime2023 · 20/12/2023 10:05

Had the receipt for tonight’s delivery and our Xmas chicken has been substituted for a garlic chicken OH hates garlic 🙈

So I did an early morning trip to my local Sainsbury's superstore in north London this morning because I prefer to shop in person and it makes more sense where I live. I pretty much got everything I needed – shelves were overflowing – but it was a nightmare because there were so many pickers jumping in the way and grabbing – and I mean grabbing – stuff off the shelves and chucking them in their massive four-tier trollies. Most were late teens barely looking at the products, let alone "best before" dates. In the end I was getting so fed up at being elbowed out of the way that I jokingly asked one of them if they were on a clock – and he told me the Sainsbury's management expectation is for them to pick 200 items an hour or they get in trouble! It's no wonder there are such mad substitutes in online orders - they literally have to grab the nearest thing to meet the deadline!

Trez1510 · 22/12/2023 11:15

Not too bad from Tesco today (for my elderly aunt's delivery).

One sub - half of the strawberries with cheaper strawberries.
Short date - raspberries use by tomorrow. (Those now go on my partner's last dash shop on Christmas Eve.)

Funny thing is one of the items was showing as out of stock late last night. I usually check just before close-off time to make my own choice of sub if necessary.

Did that last night for a joint - replaced it with two smaller joints that cost less in total.

The online receipt indicates they've subbed the replacement cheaper joints with the original request at the price of the two cheaper joints.

Good old Tesco!! 😀

I’ve got Ocado coming al8-9pm tonight. They better not fuck about with my meat!

Vitriolinsanity · 22/12/2023 12:17

My picker is going to be in big trouble. My confirmation is showing a £25 sub of salmon on the £8 I ordered.

Waitrose? They'll be fine if so!

CrochetMadRosie · 22/12/2023 12:40

Phew!
Just had the receipt through for our delivery later and although there's 9 subs, 8 were just lemons for lemons type things and only 1 will be going back; I'm being sent sausages instead of stuffing which isn't too bad!
Good luck to everyone else waiting!

Loopzy · 22/12/2023 13:31

I recently ordered a storage box, which was subbed with an ironing board cover!

Last week, I ordered 8 pints of milk from Tesco (2x4 pints) and they sent 4 pints (2x2 pints) and charged me £2.40 for it! The driver couldn't understand why I was sending it back, because it was cheaper than the £2.90 I should have paid🙄 I've added notes on quantities this week.

I particularly liked this recommendation 😂

And so the Christmas food shop substitution start…
MotherofPearl · 22/12/2023 14:26

Ocado shop just arrived with no subs and just two missing items (porcini mushrooms for a vegetarian pie I'd planned for a dinner we're hosting tomorrow so time to make a dash to the shops, and a box of cereal which only the DC eat). I'm pretty happy overall.

yoshiblue · 22/12/2023 14:53

Another thumbs up to Ocado. Only missing item was salt and pepper combo mix which you often struggle to get in store this time of year anyway! Everything else correct and good dates especially pork pie and meat.

BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn · 22/12/2023 16:41

Order collected from local greengrocer today: 1 sub. Cranberry sauce with port replaced by cranberry sauce without port.

Think we'll manage. Can always nip out and buy some port.

SonicAllanKey · 22/12/2023 16:59

@BinturongsSmellOfPopcorn you mean you aren’t already halfway into a big bottle of port!? 😜
