Couldn't see a recent thread showcasing Christmas tat for sale and I just had to share this - described as a Christmas Shrimp.

I help the SIL at several festive craft fairs every year (she sells honey). It never ceases to amaze me the amount of homemade crap people continue to lovingly display on stalls, only to stand sadly by for the next three hours, waiting for someone (anyone) to buy their crocheted/knitted/painted/sewn/tortured tat. Most we never see again, but some will re-surface next year in an effort to claw back some of the money they spent on supplies. Pom poms were a big thing this year, strangely.

I go to a local craft fair several times a year solely to buy one stallholder's fantastic chutney and jams. The last one I went to was a couple of weeks ago and oh - the endless Christmas homemade tat. And you're right, nobody buys any of it. Nobody was buying any of the scented candles in little tins either. Stall after stall of those, and all lovingly 'home made'. Course they are. 😂

Shock Shock Shock

Can't see it if I click on sold items though, and all it says is "listing ended"

Maybe hiss family - utterly sick of seeing it - have flung it in the bin?? Grin

ScottBakula · 29/12/2023 03:08

Nah I recon its got packed back in to its box and shoved in the loft to be brought back down next year.

CaravaggiosCat · 29/12/2023 11:58

No it says its no longer available and a little green sold above the picture. It's been on my watch list for the past few years so this is new.
I reckon someone's given them a heads up of their celebrity status 🤔

SingSongVerilyTheSky · 29/12/2023 13:03

Bless them they could just dismantle it surely, clean any glue residue off and sell the expensive figures in groups 😁

SingSongVerilyTheSky · 29/12/2023 13:03

Unless it really has sold in which case I hope it is enjoyed for years to come 🤣

@MinnieCauldwell Can you post a link to the SIL prawns thread please? Advanced search throws up (!) a lot of prawns but I can't find that thread - I am so enjoying the madness on this one.

Well, on my watched items it says the horror's been relisted ... and so it has, with "expected delivery" down as 6 January on a Buy It Now basis

I don't sell on ebay any more and when I did nothing was ever left up for sale that long, but maybe there's a limit and then it has to be renewed?

Buy it Now items are listed for up to thirty days and you can auto relist up to eight times for free if things don't sell. (Source: I sell on eBay tons).

Omg, the Christmas frogs! I remember those! My aunt made loads as presents back in the early 80s, I loved mine!
